Did your Timestamp Camera app stop populating addresses?

I used one of the free Timestamp Camera apps (same one I've always used) on Monday, and everything was fine. Go to use it Tuesday, and the addresses are gone. No matter which selection I choose in the scrollable options menu, I can only retrieve the date, time, and GPS coordinates. Did anybody else run into this?

I eventually downloaded an entirely different app, which had the typical "address is close but not exact" shenanigans.

I thought it was only me. Then I downloaded maybe 5 different apps, none of which I liked. But maybe 2 hours later, and in a different location, the automatic address note on the picture came back.

Yes, same experience with Timestamp Camera Free; flaky. Is that the app you are referencing? Exiting and returning works, sometimes, but not consistently. I definitely have learned to focus on getting images needed while it's functioning and to double-check that address has populated every time.

That's probably one of them, yes. There are 5-6 that all have the same icon, and I couldn't get addresses off of any of them yesterday. I'm not in love with the one I ended up with (Timemark), but it got me what I needed.

YES! I was doing a Boar's Head shop and noticed that my edited location (to add store name and street address) wouldn't default. I took a picture outside of the store and the edited location showed. When I left the location and checked my pictures from outside, the entire app had messed up. I submitted my report and THANKFULLY it was accepted. The address on the pictures from the shop report was not specific. It only said "SW---CITY."

I just opened the app and the written address appears.

It works for me. I have an iPhone, and it only stops working if I disable location services. When I re-enable it, I need to restart my phone and then look up the location information on a random photo to get the address to populate in the app again. This may not apply in your case, though.

It is hit or miss. I have had issues many times and it is frustrating. A few times I just restarted my phone and that really seemed to be the only way to fix it.

I use Timemark and don't have issues with it. Not sure why you dislike that one but it's been reliable for me.

I take a few test photos when that happens and the location reappears again or updates to the correct one as opposed to somewhere else nearby.

Glad to stumble into this discussion.
I'm seeing some jobs require this app, but they do not specify which of the multiple ones with the same name. A link to the one they want us to use would be helpful.
I'm also not going to pay for it when my Iphone already provides all of that information, and so does almost every MSC report software unless it's pre-Y2K.

I think you may be talking about the lunch meat shops in which case ANY time stamping app is OK, it just needs to display the required information. I asked specifically about this before choosing a different app because I had a preference for both free and not bogged down by pop up ads.

There is a location icon on the picture screen, I access that and it gives me a bunch of addresses to access invariably the correct address is there and I select it...weird.

I have had the same issue with one particular Publix for the Boar's Head shops. Its weird because later when I get home or go somewhere else it works just fine.

I really need to find an alternative to the Timestamp app. Half the time I'm just waiting around to see if the address will populate. Takes it from a simple and easy shop to an annoying one.

I found that I can't get an address under a gas station canopy but as soon as I move out to the open, the address shows up. Maybe this is an issue with being inside the store where the signal is being blocked somehow?

I was going to mention the reception issue.

I've had simply awful experiences with other assignments because of this, and spent hours in my car sitting outside sites in the parking lot trying to figure workarounds because you're disqualified if you leave the location before you submit.

If it's a "big box" location or inside a mall or strip mall, the infrastructure blocks reception unless there's a strong wifi signal you can piggyback on.

If it's satellite- based, you can sneeze and it will go south (or if there are clouds, the direction of the sun changes by the season, or any sunspot, military activity or you're near an airport or...), and the schedulers and editors "have no control over" that as so...we're outta luck.

I’m working on an assignment that’s made this app mandatory and am having terrible luck.

There’s no faq or instructions about how to set it up even in app settings and it doesn’t appear in my app list on my phone so I can’t approach it that way.

The photos are in the app gallery but there’s no way to upload them to the report as required.

I reached out to support but didn’t hear back and had to abort the mission, which I don’t ever do.

Any insight is appreciated.

Mine (Timestamp Camera-Free) has a settings icon to the right of the phptp buttpm. Once selected, it shows options at the bottom at the botoom of the screen, one of which is "Advanced". After selecting that in settings, there is an option called "Interval of refreshing address". It offers a drop-down menu. I selected "As soon as possible", then "ok". Now the address shows up regularly. If it doesn't, I just click the area on the screen where the address should be, and it usually shows up. Hope that works for you!

So, I finally had a small issue with the Timemark app but it is probably true of all of them. If a business is on a corner, it may default to the "wrong" address based on proximity to that other street. And, if you are in a strip mall, it may default to the address of the mall itself rather than the specific store within it. However, clicking on the "wrong" address took me to the place in the menu where I could see the choices for that location and the "right" address was one of them. Once selected, it remembered my choice until I'd finished the assignment and departed the location.

The main flaw in these programs is a lack of support so I share in case someone else has to figure this out while on site and is feeling annoyed that it isn't doing what they want.

Thanks for sharing. I had my first instance of no address showing, just the date and time. I closed and reopened the appvand the address showed up.
