RISING GAS PRICES

$8.25 gal for plus/premium for Memaw's high compression engine in a 25yr old Mercedes. LOL! She once tried to be thrifty by filling up with 87 octane. She didn't get far.

Gas at my local Kroger affiliate was $2.78 last time I filled on my own dime on Feb 28, using my January fuel points for 65¢ off per gallon.

I was just in N'awlins over spring break from classes for a family wedding. Gas is now $3.69 down the street 2.5 weeks later.

I've got an overnight loop starting Thursday centered around a $300 non-targeted audio apartment shop for Grace Hill. They are the only ShopMetrics site where I search the 150+ range as I can usually turn up some more remote complexes with some really nice fees.

I filled in with 4 Shells, and I'm waiting for the 72-hour windows on 3 Exxons, and the 12-hour windows for 4 Green Dinos on the app with the friendlier reporting process. Dunno if those will come through as the current last date on the host MSC's site is tomorrow.

I will need to buy a bit of gas on my own dime to get me up to the apartment complex after I do a 4-stop loop of credit unions today and a narrative-heavy Italian lunch that I booked for Thursday before I left on spring break.

I'll be heading to Costco @ $3.25. Read an article over the weekend about how they do not lower their prices as aggressively when prices drop, allowing them to raise them less aggressively when they go up, giving them a sizable edge in the market.

If the Green Dinos hit I should be able to make it back home with about the same amount in my tank as when I left.

Have synthesizers, will travel...
Up in lower NW Mi. Saw gas from 3.35, cheaper than I paid in Detroit proper, and up to 3.99. My guess I will see 4+ on the way home.
We had a high of $3.29 for unleaded in NEOK, yesterday dropped to $3.16.
We're at almost $4 in Indiana, diesel is over $5.
Oklahoma has one of the lowest gas taxes in the U.S., generally totaling roughly 20 cents per gallon (19-20 cents excise tax). This tax includes a 16-cent gasoline tax and a 13-cent diesel tax, intended for road construction and maintenance. The state is currently studying a per-mile pilot program for future funding.

As of July 2025, Indiana's total state gasoline tax is approximately 54.5 cents per gallon, ranking it among the top five highest in the nation, according to the Tax Foundation. The tax includes a 36-cent excise tax and a ~17.5-cent sales tax, with automatic annual increases for infrastructure funding until 2027.

34.5 cents attributable just to sales and excise tax difference. Its hard to tell what the rest of the difference is.
