Gas Prices?

What the heck is going on? A bunch of stations here went from $3.49-$3.59 to $3.99 per gallon yesterday. So when I saw a station had it for $3.54, I filled up. Today that station is at $3.79. I usually see 10 cent increases, but never 40-50 cent increases in a day.

SE WI. gas is $4.19. It went up because "of a leak at a refinery and a fire at another one, prices are expected to come down in 2 weeks.' Right, and I believe in the tooth fairy, and the check really is in the mail. I also work part time as a commission only courier and these prices are killing me!
gas prices are high in the midwest and west right now. East Coast for a change is seeing the lowest prices with south carolina having gas at 2.79-2.99 at a number of stations and many east coast states well under 3.50 a gallon

Wish I knew where that 2.79 to 2.99 per gallon is. Myrtle Beach has some of the lowest gas prices in the state and we're at 3.10-3.25.

here too ( Montréal-Canada) , yesterday it was 1.34 $ L, today 1.39 $ L for regular.
Been jumping around from $3.99 to 4.07...with summer around the corner, I'm expecting it to go up (for no reason).

Live consciously....
Keeping track of gas prices makes my head spin. The bottom line is I need to buy gas to get my work done and since my bonus requests are not based on "a little extra for gas money" it doesn't matter right now. A significant increase would make me rethink my rates, but not the 20 to 75 cent fluctuations.

I do use the Gas Buddy app on my android phone to check prices. They're mostly accurate, and it tells me the going rate in an area.
Prices drive me crazy too. I have to use high octane in my car, so it gets really expensive. sad smiley
It is summer and vacation time and with Canada day coming, gas will go up again in Canada.

expect the unexpected
I live five minutes from a Costco gas station and that is the main reason I am a Costco member, since I also live five minutes away from a Sam's Club (with no gas station) and am a member there, too. Much shorter lines and easier parking at Sam's Club. Gas prices just went down a little. It is about $3.77/gallon at Costco. Many name brand stations (Chevron, Shell, etc.) in my area are charging more than $4/gallon.

Every summer, prices go up. Several times a year, one refinery or another around here has a fire or some other emergency and prices go up even when it's not summer. Ugh.
Holding steady at 3.99 (for now). Costco is only a dime lower here, so, not close enough to warrent driving there.

Live consciously....
Most of the gas in my town is at $3.59...but then there is BP who is holding out at $3.99. I can't understand the people there getting gas when 200 feet away it is 40 cents cheaper.

But then again, people probably think the same thing of me as I am pumping my $6 of gas into my car for each BP shop. If they weren't paying for it, I wouldn't be getting it.
Right now there is no justificatio for the price of oil and gas on the market.

There is zero reason it should be near 100 a barrel and gas alittle under 3 a gallon.

Oil reserves are at the highest level they have every been in history.

I think now they are holding it high as long as they can because the
European Union opened an investigation into price collusion among
oil companies and traders. Something we all knew has been going on
but no one in the U.S. would investigate since we know how inbed
u.s. regulators are with corporations...need to make as much profits
as possible before it comes crashing down...

Always takes the european union to solve things...expect changes
come the end of the year.

Just as they were the ones to uncover the bank frauds and the newest
bank fraud announced a couple days ago, they will solve this one too...
They just fined several the big U.S. banks and forcing them to carry
more "real" cash on their balance sheets as punishment

I heard the Midwest prices are a result of a refinery issue. Some are shut down and there is more competition. There was a fire at one near Detroit.
Gas prices in this part of the Midwest are below $3.50 and in some parts of town, below $3.40. When you get around 40 miles out of town there are even a few at $3.26 or so.

I almost can't believe this, but I filled up for $3.18 today. I did have to wait in line, but that was the lowest price I have seen in a long time! I wish it would keep going down.
Gas hit $4.40 in south central Illinois two weeks ago. That's the highest I've seen (and that was just for the "cheap" gas -- 87% octane). It's back down to $3.79 today, but still. You guys with the just over 3s are some lucky folks! winking smiley
For a trip to Indy last week I managed to fill up at home for $3.31 and Kokomo Indiana for $3.26. I never get gas in Illinois unless it is an emergency. Sunday it was down to $3.15 here.

I just passed a corner with three stations. Two of them had it for $3.34 and the third had it for $3.16. This is so wierd. I passed stations on the way home that had it for 3.21 and 3.18. It is hard to believe that when I first posted this, gas was at 3.99 at some of the same stations.
have no fear....it will go back up within the next week.
Oil went over 100 dollars a barrel for the first time in a
year this week and everyone knows what follows right
behind that....higher gas prices. Wholesale is up about
15 cents right now so expect with their next deliveries
for it go up...and if oil holds above 100 -wholesale will
rocket to over 3.00 pushing gas back to near 4 dollars.

I've seen prices on the east coast of below 3 dollars.

There was a price war for a few days in the tourist
areas of Florida and they were as low as 2.96 at a
bunch of stations. Also in the carolina's stations
have been below 3 dollars for a couple weeks.

Jeepers criminy! I'd salivate over $3.18! LOL!

I hear ya, Lisa. I will occasionally go to Indianapolis or to Lafayette, etc., etc. and the gas is always $.40 to $.50 cheaper a gallon (sometimes even more)!! There's this little town, I can't remember the name off the top, but it's .. I want to say it's Attica, and they have the cheapest gas I've ever seen, every time I'm through there (without fail!). There are times when I think it might be cheaper to bip on over to Indi to fill up. winking smiley
Because of the high prices in Illinois, the stations closer to the bridges tend to have the highest prices on the MO side of the metro while still charging quite a bit less than drivers will get near home. Same thing in Kansas City because of Kansas prices.

they should do what they did in NY. In order to go to NJ you need to pay
a toll on every crossing, that stops people from crossing over
and getting gas for 50 to 75 cents a gallon less since the toll
can run as high as 15 dollars one way...

Too many people have to cross the bridges to work and could not afford that. The major business and entertainment districts are in St Louis. You have to keep in mind the huge difference in the cost of living here and subsequently the wages. Here you could support a family, send your kids to some of the best school districts and have a large home in a good neighborhood making $100,000 a year.
