I am braising 2 large lamb shanks. There will be plenty of tender, lean lamb to shred and freeze in small batches. Plus two meals tonight and Saturday: lamb, yellow rice or couscous, chopped olives and tomato, maybe some fresh spinach. ETA, and, of course, crumbled feta cheese.

The meat that I just pulled out of the freezer. Will look at it later, when it is time to cook. I am certain about the veggie curls but not about how I will dress them. They are always good, no matter how I vary the dressings. smiling smiley

I have a very long route today, leaving soon. I don't much care for take out or fast food but I do have a hungry and kitchen impaired wife to feed. I think I will swing by KFC when I get home. She likes that.
Akron, about 40 miles south of Cleveland. They also have something else that's weird and specific to the Akron area: Sauerkraut balls. They take sauerkraut, bread crumbs, and bits of ham with egg, roll it into balls, and then roll it in bread crumbs again and deep fry them. Served with cocktail sauce. Some people love them. I am not a fan of sauerkraut in general, but I can eat almost anything when it's fried (except chicken livers, gizzards, feet, or okra).

Not too much I don't like, carrots I use a lot in my soups or a stew. I used to make a carrot/raisen cake, but forgot how and don't bake anymore. I do believe it has some awesome healing properties, I really do. I know it's great for digestion and maybe as a blood cleanser/detoxifier?
I would much rather have cheesecake over carrot cake any day. I have had some carrot cake before that was okay, but it didn't taste much like carrots, really. I will skip the raisins. I like raisin bran but I don't like raisins in desserts or other things very much. Gawd but I sound like a really picky eater, don't I?

I never said I didn't like carrot cake, I said I would prefer cheesecake over carrot cake. If I was in the mood for something sweet, I would eat carrot cake (mostly just the part near the icing). But no, I don't really care much for zucchini bread, though I have actually made it for others in my family who do like it. It's ok. I would eat it if I was starving and there was nothing else to eat.
I must have Sauerkraut on my (Chicago style)y Polish hot dogs, nothing else, and I want to start using ginger for health reasons, don't know how to cook or what to use it in...tips please!!

From what I understand, it's best raw, straight from the root. Get it in juice or smoothies at Whole Foods, they can make you up a concoction with ginger root juice in it. I understand that celery juice is also super good for you.
Here in L.A. smoothies are made with celery are supposed to be good for you, better than just eating the celery,
Kim Kardashian uses it, so, will I look like her, doubt it. We have so many food fads, who knows, everything fresh
is good for you. Doing the new and improved Whole Foods next week, so will look into the ginger root thing.

I would think apple, celery, and ginger in a fresh pressed juice would be good. I couldn't do it in a smoothie I don't think. The pulp would be too much for me.
Maybe you could get the ginger squeezed and add it to the smoothie. The ginger root has a tough outer layer that is like tree bark. People do chew on the pulp, and some cultures pickle the insides in slices, which is supposed to be super good for you.

I'm cleaning out my fridge and had so many veggies, I decided to make a lentil, carrot, veggie soup...kitchen smells great and it turned out good throwing everything but the kitchen sink in it, including Turmeric....healthy.
Going to ask Jill (daughter) how she uses ginger, she told me about it.... will give suggestions later.

I make juice with ginger in it and it adds a nice flavor. It has celery, cucumber, apples, kale, and a little knob of ginger. It's pressed juice. I couldn't drink all that pulp. YUCK LOL. It's called "mean green" if anyone wants to google the actual recipe.
From what I understand the health benefits are from raw ginger, not cooked. Coffee Queen's idea about ginger juice are spot on, from what I have read. But your veggie soups sounds great!

Maybe if I ate them (the sweet potatoes) roasted and just plain, maybe I would like them. The problem is, everyone I have ever known who cooked them did something weird to them, like put brown sugar and butter or with marshmallows on top, or in a butter brown sugar sauce, UGH!!! Maybe I never just tried them plain? I wonder if there is a way to make them savory so they aren't sweet and I would like them? BUT there are so many other healthy foods out there that I like, why would I go through the trouble of trying to turn them into something palatable and risk the chance I am going to hate it? I would hate to waste the food and dump it in the trash. Food waste is a sinful thing.

I would prefer to make my ass smaller, not larger, thank you. And I like my blonde hair and green eyes just fine.
Well I don't like all the sugary stuff. I like butter, a little salt and some pepper. You should try it. It transforms them.
