My Mom got me into cross stitching too. I've made some beautiful pieces. My grandmother was an expert crocheter, knitter and seamstress. Unbelievable what she could create. Cross stitch is relaxing.

Super relaxing….

I taught myself to cross stitch when I was ordered to be on bed rest/disability (from the stress of a 60-hour/week position in…health care) during my second pregnancy.

I started with a kit and evolved into large framed custom Holiday gifts people still have hanging on the wall. The family trees I did were very popular.
Yesterday we had staggered Holiday arrivals so I created a charcuterie platter on ice and served up a main course of cold shrimp and grilled teriyaki tuna on fresh chilled greens, tart blueberries and veggies with sesame tamari dressing and sliced home made baguettes with home-made iced tea, chilled bottles of grapefruit Kolsch and Pinot Grigio, Mojitos, and still warm brownie sundaes with fresh raspberries for dessert.

Chili (one of hubby's fave dishes)

Making your Christmas cake in September is perfect, as too fresh a cake crumbles when cut. (Mary Berry)
“ tzimmes “ please enlighten me?

sure, tzimmes is a traditional Jewish dish....it can be made in so many ways....but usually involves a combination of carrots, orange juice, sweet potatoes, butter and dried fruit, baked in a casserole.
I find it delicious with roasted chicken or turkey, mostly in colder weather....but had a hankering at that time.

lots of online recipe variations...

peace & passover smiling smiley

Why wasn’t I invited?
I made a potato salad for the 4th. My one big contribution. I’m not into cooking in the summer unless I’m forced to produce something. I don’t like a lot of egg in it and it’s got to be cold, on ice! I add capers and tiny squares of ham. It was a hit but I was still bored. I find most gatherings a bit tiresome. I’m good for an hour - 2 tops if I had my way.
Cold Mexican pasta salad with avocado, jalapenos, chopped tomatoes, green peppers, corn, red onions, black beans, lima beans. Grilled halved zucchini and chicken breasts. Waiting for DH to get out there and grill.
nice cold supper of cold Croghan bologna
NYS cheese curds
water crackers
sliced cucumbers
cold beer
Ha, ha. DH made us the most delicious watermelon martinis, LOL. Eggplant caprese with lots of fresh Italian bread, parmesan and mozzarella, arugula salad. Eggplant and tomatoes from the garden, yay! Peaches, pears, grapes and blueberries. I've got a ways to emulate my Mom's eggplant as well as everything else.
Met #1 after work for a fine dining shop. So delicious! We had great conversation and a lot of laughs too! Report tomorrow morning. :-(
Mapo tofu sans meat, jasmine rice, baby bok choy. Strawberry ice cream with sliced strawberries and pound cake.
las night: my grandmother's young potatoes and green beans simmered in milk
sliced tomatoes and cucumbers
leftover bbq chicken from the firemen's fair

coincedentally, had mapo tofu over the weekend since MTS and I share a similar palate smiling smiley
Was invited to have lunch with an Amish family who live nearby.
Their grandma made Lebanon bologna sandwiches
sliced tomatoes and cukes
we drank Kutztown sodas.
I am loving this! We were invited to a Seder years ago. It was beautiful. We so enjoyed.

I would love to go to a Seder....I love different traditions....
do you recall the menu, MTS?
Scallops wrapped in bacon (along with peppercorn sauce) with steak fries. Simple and quick on the grille. Easy clean-up. Great on a warm summer night with a cold adult beverage.
making a raw tomato sauce for pasta
will also make a baked zucchini dish
bought a watermelon, farmer said it's yellow inside
Pasta night yesterday. Pasta e Piselli topped with fresh grated Pecorino Romano cheese, 4 cheese ravioli, sauteed asparagus, Italian bread with dipping oil. Wine, Prosecco, H2O, chocolate mousse cake (bakery), sliced strawberries. Compliments to Chez Mama and her 2 sous chefs. Tonight, DH and I are meeting another couple for dinner at STK. Outvoted. Not my choice but I'm sure we'll have a great time.
I remember delicious matzo ball soup, brisket, gefilte fish (I did not eat), delicious potatoes, wine, macaroons, chocolate matzos and a slew of other delicacies. I remember the rituals and cultural aspects. Loved it! So honored.

That sounds downright lovely! thanks for sharing the details. I spent many years living in the NYC metro area so many of my friends while living there, were Jewish and I learned so much from them. Especially the soup smiling smiley

Today, I am trying my hand at ratatouille.

Tis the season lol
Homemade cheese steak on an Italian seeded roll w/ provolone cheese, fried onions and pizza sauce.
Cold tortellini with red onion, broccoli and tomatoes. So delicious! Garlic bread and the rest of the chocolate mousse cake.
I had a birthday a while ago and just found a package I had misplaced and forgot to open. It's a birthday gift from a friend in Europe: Dutch licorice - wow, it's wild, doesn't taste much like American licorice.
