"Staked" by Kevin Hearne. It's the 7th or 8th book in his Iron Druid series.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

I just finished The Girl on the Train! Wow! Great book that keeps you reading and keeps you guessing. Now I'm going to treat myself to see the movie.

Yep. Free flight, free hotel, free VIP pass to Tom Petty in Hyde Park. Quite excited.

Full disclosure I am only spending points for the hotel. The flight is a benefit of my closest friends being 40 year employees of AA. And the Petty ticket i may or may not pay for. They're weird like that.

That was a good one!

I just opened "The Peculiar Life of Sundays" by Stephen Miller. Apparently, Sunday has not been equally or universally loved. I will find out why... smiling smiley

I am a compulsive reader and want to suggest to those who love to read to download Overdrive and then after you get a library card you can check out books via Overdrive and read them in your browser. Before I started doing this I was spending a fortune on books although I eventually started buying books at garage sales for about .25 a piece and then trading 2 for 1 at the used bookstore. I love Overdrive. Keep a little notebook by my computer so that when I see a title of a book that sounds good to me, I can make a note of it. Every once in a while I take the time to visit the library via my computer and select any of the books in my notebook, put them on my library "wish" list and then when I need a book to read I just pick one of the ones I've marked. Haven't spent a dime on books for 5 years.
I never heard of Overdrive before, but you can link it to your public library account. Thanks for the info!
I've just completed the last of Jeffrey Archer's Clifton Chronicles, "Mightier than the Sword."

I could not put down John Grisham's Rogue Lawyer which was a birthday present. I thought I had already read it but realized I confused it with Grisham's 'The Street Lawyer.'

Thanks for the tip on Overdrive. I will try it.

It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life of Love and War by Lynsey Addario. Reading if for my Veterans book club. I now read all my books on my Kindle and use Overdrive. In addition to my local library, the Navy has an online Overdrive library as well. I was able to sign up since I'm retired. Not sure but a veteran may be able to do the same. They have a huge number of books available. One of the great advantages of the Kindle is the ability to get definitions on the fly. Also never need a book light.

Occasionally, I dip into "The Summer Book" by Susan Branch. Today, I randomly opened this whimsical treat to the page that featured "The Summer Table". It begs for a real tea party (with grown-ups, children, and/or teddy bears). Just for me, I would like the linen napkins tied with ribbons, the admonishment to sprinkle summer salads liberally with petals: pansies, nasturtium, roses, & violets, and the drinks. "Freeze borage flowers in ice cubes for lemonade or tea". "Float petals of scented (rose) geranium, fruits, & berries in a glass of champagne".

On another page, there is a lesson from a 9-year old on how to go to tea party. Oh, my. Of course, we would not serve the tooty-fruity champagne to the children and teddy bears. grinning smiley

I am also reading "Rouging It" byt Mark Twain. This, too, is good-- in a different way.
