What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

LOL no such luck. I taste a tiny piece and keep a couple of pieces for my spouse and give the rest to my friends and neighbors, once I've admired my handiwork for a few hours. They are all accustomed to getting surprising flavors and combinations of cake at regular intervals.

Drove over into Canada and explored an old resort town called St. Andrews in New Brunswick. Cute shops where I found some NB and St. Andrews pins for my travel hat. Admired a lot of very old and great homes, ate a little locally made ice cream, admired local pottery and woodworking in some shops, and generally enjoyed the sea breeze. Back to Eastport campground/cottage for dinner at my sister and BiL's huge RV. (They travel full time in that.)

That's terrible. I'd be thinking about getting a different doctor. This one obviously doesn't prioritize people.

Coffee I am thinking about it but I not sure there is another back doctor around here . I live in a small OK town and have to go 40 miles to see him.
Alieda, I'm sorry that happened to you.

I, too, had a dr's visit today, my "Welcome To Medicare" visit. One of the things done for free is a baseline ECG. So I had it done, and it showed "possible old anterior infarct" ... dr pulled up an ECG I had done while going thru chemo 4 years ago, and it showed the SAME THING!! I also had an ECHO done 4 years ago, probably because of the ECG, and it showed a relatively normal heart for my age at the time. So he said just to be sure, he wants to set me up for a stress test....I suppose that's a good thing, especially since I have a history of PVCs also, benign though they be!

But the item of more concern to me is this "lump" on the interior of the top of my left elbow crease, about 1" by 3/4", that only shows up if I fully extend my arm open. I don't know how long it's been there, and I only noticed it about 5 days ago. He said that while it "didn't present itself" as a lymph node, but more as a fatty cyst, that due to my history of breast cancer & left mastectomy (& chemo and radiation & Arimidex--on year 4 of 5), he wants me to get an ultrasound of the lump....which is a great idea. Then from there, probably see my oncologist to see about a biopsy.

I LOVE my new dr....had to switch when I started on Medicare....he REALLY LISTENS to me!!
So, most of this probably won't get done till end of the month or first of Sept, because hubby & I are leaving on the 15th for vacation and I won't be home until the 27th. May be able to get the ultrasound done before vacation if the place that does it calls me in the next day or so. But we'll see. I'm in the Lord's capable hands!!
I talked to my Mom today and mentioned to her that my lips felt swollen. I thought it was because of the popcorn diet I'm on. She asked if I ate any shellfish. I ate some shrimp on the Spirit cruise on Saturday. I always forget about my shellfish allergies until Mom mentions them.

WOW Honey, be careful!! Sounds like you're going to be OK from this episode. Do you carry an EPI Pen with you??
Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone's health will improve or remain excellent, as needed.

So today I am reading outside of my comfort zone. (I am all about language and other soft stuff.) The first topic is astronomy. I took this course in college and learned nothing. Yet, every morning when I work, I see the created stars, moon, sun, or precipitation. I see effects of wind, and I know by the movement of critters across time when the seasons change (regardless of a calendar date). The moon and the tides are related to critter behaviors, as are sun and weather events. These things are important. and the discrete sciences contribute to many inter-related stories. I should have learned more than I did, and I should know more than I do. I choose this tuition and exam-free method of reviewing and learning. This freedom of choice is one of the many advantages of being a certain age. grinning smiley

Honey, my sister has that allergy and it seemed to worsen with each exposure. I really hope that you will check with your doctor and ask if it is time to start to carry and epi-pen.

Today I will read on my bay-facing front porch until the breeze drops and the temps rise to uncomfortable levels. Then I may "refugee" to my sister and BiL's air conditioned RV to read and await fresh breezes after the tide turns. Public areas in this part of Maine are NOT air conditioned and they are having the hottest August on record. Because of the lack of AC, public health warnings are issued here at much lower temps than would be the case in my home territory. But also, I think, because the population skews much older and less healthy in this local economy where many spent their lives in dangerous occupations (logging and/or fisheries) and with little health care available within 100 miles. (The regional hospital is 40+ miles away, has 10 beds, no emergency room and few diagnostic tools on site.)

Were having another heat wave with temp's going up to 107+, so I am thinking of driving the 30 minutes down hwy 126 (back road) to the much cooler Ventura habour, sit at a fun restaurant and lunch and read, then walk the stores, will be a bit of relief from staying home with the a/c on all day. Get a free B-day burger at Red Robin, will save that for another day.

I will be calling my back doctor back to make sure the new appointment that was set up for thr 10th of September was not called off . Lannie let them have a piece of his mond yesterday. I will also be calling the doctors office I have to do some work in next week to set up a time to do them. ALso checking to see if they recieve the booklets I need to set up. I will have my quite time , clean house and read some.
I started to shop today but quit as I got started on my first gas station and realized that only half of the guidelines I needed had printed out. So I'll start again in the morning. Right now I"m going to go run some errands and pick up erythritol to make home made ice cream. I can't survive August without ice cream. I made lemon blackberry last time and my spouse has been asking for more ever since. Then I'll do some laundry and vacuum and hopefully get a nap in there somewhere. I'm insanely jealous of Wales vacation. I'm putting an RV on my "want to buy" list .
V. It wold be less expensive to vacation, on the shore, farther south in Maine, using a hotel/inn with AC !!!

Yesterday I took a day off from the regular job and did 5 shops all bonused. Yes, my boss knows I do this from time to time when the money is too good to pass up. He is a great boss. Wasn't bad even with lots of driving except for the heat. Got home, did reports, watered the yard, one hour of TV and time for bed.
Today is the state primary election. I voted...and got the sticker to prove it :-)

No touring for today. We finally have a relatively cool day (low 70s) so I will read on my porch and pack up a lot of my gear. Tomorrow AM I move out of the cabin and will spend one night on the hide-a-bed in sister and BiL's RV before starting a 2 day drive to NJ. Once there it will be two shops on NJ, an overnight (on rewards points) at a hotel and then 4 $100+ shops in NYC. Back to hotel to upload a ton of video. Next day, drive home and listen to the news for the first time since 7/31. (Quite an accomplishment, since I an an NPR news junkie!)

Three days are planned. First there, is a day for errands which lead logically and/or geographically into a shop. Then, there is a day for laundry and a nap before a shop. Then, there is a day for fishing. Fishing! I wonder if they have shops for fishing...

Very rainy, foggy day on the Bay of Fundy. I will finish my latest book, have a nap, play on the Internet, and maybe watch tonight's preseason football game. Sister and BiL have Direct TV but we have not yet figured out which game it will pull in here. Unfortunately it will not be the GB Packers game, for sure.
