What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Went to a second furniture store that carries Flexsteel, our preferred brand. The service was horrible! After browsing for 5 minutes left. Walked around the area for 30 minutes and gave them a second try. Not much better, although after several minutes we did have an associate ask if we needed help. (He didn't have much to give; couldn't answer many of our questions.)

Work and extra work x 1. Try to recover from the second covid shot. I have fatigue and the chills; I canceled my shift. There was not enough room for me, two blankies, and two heating pads in the office chair. *sigh*
My big girl fridge was not delivered today because the box was too big for the sliding glass door. That was the one thing I didn't measure! The delivery is rescheduled for Friday and I have a handyman coming to do the door and other stuff.

I still haven't used my microwave.

@guysmom...how are you feeling after your second shot?
I feel "Grrrrrrreat!" as Tony the Tiger says!! Can't even tell I had a shot. ZERO side effects after both shots. Maybe because I'm up there, 68 years old. I hear younger folks feel side effects, but for me, nothing.

Also, finally got a new laptop to replace my trusty Windows 7...HP Windows 10 Home. Started playing with it last night. It doesn't come with any sort of optical drive, so I ordered a combo CD/DVD USB one that should arrive today. I also ordered a special USB to USB data cable that is specially equipped so that I can transfer files from my old laptop to my new one. I'll be working on that most of the day.....
UGH! UGH! And once again....UUUUGGGGHHHH!!! New Laptop came. Everything's going great. Got it set up the way I want it. USB data cable came. Easy-peasy transfer of files from old laptop to new..........THEN......Windows 10 starts its thing.....updates. I'm not one for automatic updates.....I have them shut off on my Windows 7 laptop. But with this particular Windows 10, I figure I'll let it update everything one time, since it's new and then I'll adjust it to update only after I see what the updates are. SO.....it says it's going to update files....I say, OK, do your thing, and I go about doing stuff on my old laptop while Windows 10 updates itself....Then, I happen to look over at the Win 10 screen, and I see a message about how it's updating the BIOS....I think, hmmm, OK, that's odd, but since it's new, maybe there's been an update, so I let it do its thing....THEN the SCREEN GOES BLACK!!!! And naively, I figures it's just shutting down and re-starting. NOPE! It's down for the count!!! Can't get it to boot up no matter what!!! This is on Thursday night, and I had just started using my new laptop on Tuesday.

I called Amazon tech support, and we were on the phone for a full hour trying a gazillion different things to see if it would boot up. NOPE. Apparently if you Google "Windows 10 laptop black screen after BIOS update"....you find out this happens frequently enough that it's rather unsettling. Watched Youtube videos about it and tried several things. The ODD thing is that THIS particular laptop is a SLIM version, so that the battery is INTERNAL and you have to take the back off to access it....NOPE....not gonna do that. Most of the tips to get it booting back up involve taking the battery out...can't do that when it's internal!!! YIKES!!! So, after hours and hours of trying, I realize this isn't going to work.

Called Amazon and have started the return process....BUT....the CAVEAT in this ENTIRE deal is that I had already transferred my bookmarks over, and while they don't show the entire clues to my passwords for my financial sites, they show enough of it that someone could probably figure them out. SOOOO......I've been on my old laptop, and have been CHANGING OUT ALL MY PASSWORDS!!! UGH!!! I've got about 20% of it done, and will be spending most of my free time over the next few days getting this done before I send the new laptop back. I'm attaching a note to the returned laptop, in case whoever receives it gets the hard drive out to see what's on it, letting them know all the passwords have been changed.

PHEW!!! DOUBLE PHEW!!! I just had to get it all out of my system. Thanks for letting me!!!

I have neck problems so mowing the lawn was sometimes difficult. I finally invested in a battery powered lawn mower - Ego. I love it. A battery powered mower doesn't vibrate like a gas-powered one so that was a plus on my neck. It's self-propelled so I don't have to push, and it has a push-button start.

Hope you feel better! At least the side effects of the shot don't last as long as if you had the virus.

Dirt is heavy. I got 3 bags of soil from Big Lots. They weigh 70 pounds each. One miraculously made it into the house and is near the deck. I am going to plant my tomatoes and peppers today.

Honny,
My advice: take the pots to the dirt. While bag of dirt is in trunck, scoops pf dirt can be transferred to pots. Carry pots to plants/deck area and proceed.

Feeling human again. Work and extra work x 1. A few errands, a few tasks, and an actual workout.

Yoga, and relax, and off to meet Friend for physically distanced hike. Though snowshoes might make more sense.
I went to a regional grocery store next to a shop. I go to chain grocers every so often because Aldi's doesn't carry everything I want. Several times, I seriously considered leaving my cart in a random aisle and walking out. Here's why:

Freezer Section:
Me: Is there a generic version of these frozen vegetables?
Freezer Dude: I don't understand what you said.

Cheese Section:
A million flavors of Cheez Whiz and Queso, no whole feta.

Produce Section:
6 heads of garlic had cloves missing!

Checkout:
My bill came up to $48. My app sign up gift was $10 off of $50. I mentioned this to the cashier.

She says, "You have to buy something else to make it $50.

Me: I didn't ask you to apply the coupon. I just mentioned this as fact.

Sounds like my job. Some people have no idea what I say and actually demand that I take off the mask. I leave it on but have to adjust it constantly. On another track: if that happened at my job, I would politely re-ask the question and, if necessary, remind them that it means whatever they think it means. I am not supposed to point out or introduce the concept of a difference between generic veggie and generic brand [or its interview equivalent]. grinning smiley

wales, that's exactly what I have to do. I have two whiskey barrel planters that will come into the house to get filled.

More walking.....Zoom meeting for volunteer project.......house straightening. Looking for shops to add to two tiny post office routes tomorrow and Tuesday. No luck so far. Wonder if there is truly nothing there or my standards are too high?

Free day! [Mostly. It's okay.] I love what I accomplished yesterday, and I can enjoy working at the same pace today. Later today, we will complete hubby's additional work We "should" clean the refrigerator and fill it. We won't do that until tomorrow or Wednesday. By then, we will have emptied the freezer and need to stock that, too!

I found a place close to home to get my brows threaded. I'm going tomorrow after work.

Grade 7 today. How did I get talked into that? Oh I know how, a friend needs a sub. Her grade 7's are wonderful! Really? I knew them in grade 6! She thought they were wonderful last year. I am sure they are for her!
Years ago when I subbed I much preferred the older to the younger students.

It's just not what I taught. I don't know the curriculum the same. And I don't know how to develop the same relationship with the students.
They hadn't seen me for over a year, so the morning went fine because they enjoyed that. But then it wore off
Going to an afternoon St. Louis Cardinals baseball game, which was near the top of Hubby's list of things to do when he retired.

Slogging along at the speed of molasses. Snow is being cleared, sand is being spread, and most drivers are (apparently) being careful. Eventually, we will finish early work. But what about my upcoming full day of local and distant gigs? If necessary, I will only need to commune with one or two MSC's. I hope they will notice my willingness to return and help out with shops that are difficult to fill due to rotations and conditions even as they might need to remove or re-schedule assignments....

Morning off and Grade 3 this afternoon. Now, I know what I am doing and get to see another class I haven't seen in a year.
Work and extra work x 1. I then had to contact schedulers, apologize for this wonderful, wacky, and weather-y place, and request that two assignments be removed without penalty. I was willing. So were others willing to do their jobs. Unfortunately, some of them met this wacky weather and were blown over, resulting in multiple road closures. But they were willing! I salute them. And, I feel for them. I get to stay at home now. They get to be stranded near comforts or in the middle of nowhere. If I attempted the long trip, I might be stranded due to another set of closures. So iffy. So silly of me to plan a long trip in any month besides May or September, especially since I swore that I would never plan another day like this again. ! You may throw tomatoes, cyber-slap me, or just lol at this silly old bear of a shopper who should have waited another month for a long trip.

Briefly, I dreamed of a new service industry. I and my little team of elves, brownies, and/or two-legged angels would be all decked out in the latest lightweight weather-proof gear complete with kickice soles and packin' goodies. Or practical things like tp and my soon-to-be-perfected 'The GoGo'. Or something! Yes. We would meet stranded drivers where they are, bringing cheer or at least something practical. Then, the reality hit. Some of them are not accessible. They are just in the thick of it, somehow. Others use the time to sleep and commune with their peeps (well, maybe they do that in other places besides here where connectivity is a thing). Alas.

So it is now a typical day. Sort something, clean something, and read something. When the inspiration hits, do some sort of workout that addresses everything from head to toe and makes me feel goooooooooood.
*eta*
so far, so good. I have one re-schedule and have asked for another. I can have a profitable day with only one shop. The second shop would make it just that much better.

Glad that I set today aside for assessing aches and minor chills and hot forehead. Yes, I had vaccine # 2 (Moderna) 24 hours ago. I am NOT miserable. But, I am warming my hands around a big mug of hot tea. and considering wrapping up in a blanket on the sofa for the afternoon.

I should do some grocery shopping in my window between morning apartment shop and evening dinner shop, but I'm having trouble getting motivated.

I put the large planter in the house near the 2 cuft bag of dirt. It took a while to fill, but the tomatoes are planted and outside.

I used a dedicated measuring cup to fill the massive planter. The dirt was hard packed. I ended up using my hands, no gloves. I need a manicure in a bad way!
