What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Early job was early. Huzzah! We will probably take a little road trip and, if I am lucky, I can pick up a longer denim skirt than the one I have. The denim skirt one I have stops at my knees. No one wants to see those! I can picture it now..... the fabric is light enough to look summer-y and heavy enough to stay down during strong winds. Wish me luck!

It's supposed to hit 90 degrees today, so I took a morning walk while it was still cool. Zoom meeting at 9:30, then IDK until tonight, when we're going to a Cardinals baseball game.

Since I refused to pick up a $0-$4 fast food shops, I'm free to roam around this site and doing some reading and watching I love lucy.
Showing a rental property and organizing applications. In Colorado, when I leave an ad for a property up for a week, I have over 100 applicants :'(

Also bought a new car today. We've been looking, test driving and comparing for a couple weeks. Thought we'd hit a wall. Then a friend said, "Go check out Kia Carnivals...." we did; and bought one
Yesterday, I tried out my new porch lounger. Perfection. If you surmised that I will be on the porch more than ever before, you were right. A big round of applause and gold stars for you, you good guesser you!

Starting the morning with an organized bike ride of our city. Then probably a nap before church tonight.

Try to make house and yard perfect (lol) by the end of the day. So, tomorrow can be spent paddling or hiking.
Yesterday, we talked ourselves into and out of an actual mini-vacation,. It is too hot. (For me, eighty degrees feels like eight thousand degrees.) It's okay. The temperatures will be good for me later in the year. OTOH, the early morning temperatures are wonderful when we are working that early job. As it turns out, we are obliged to finish work before the day is too hot for me. One perfect thing is a good thing, right?

Helping a friend set up her online app for her new bank; quick grocery store visit. Laundry and, perhaps, some floor cleaning.

I rode my bike up to garden plot and came home. Finally turned Google play rewards to get Monopoly for my phone...lol smiling smiley I love it. Paid $1.99
Folded the clothes in the dryer. Now it's empty until next go round. Spoke to my parents.

Finished Betty Broderick on Netflix. Felt so sorry for the poor woman. Took a little walk at the Forest Park when it was cooler in the evening. Afternoons are boiling hot here in Chicago. Never seen this kind of weather in June in 13 years I've lived here.
My niece's bridal shower was today. Had a fabulous, fun time with DD's and family. My other niece who is getting married in Aug. 2022 asked my baby to be one of her bridesmaids. Happy day. I spent some time switching my outfit. The original dress was too weird when i sat down.
But the air is thick in Chicago. 8~) I am visiting daughters in both UT and CO. Today we biked and hiked around a town near Aspen. I have trouble breathing at high altitudes. Wed. DH & I fly back to Chicago suburbs and home.
Free day!

Sort of... I am so accustomed to waking up for the early job that I hopped out of bed at midnight, did my early morning workout, had a cup of mostly decaf, and contemplated the meaning of life for awhile before crawling back under the covers. I then emerged at a more typical time and began the rest of the day. grinning smiley

So today is for house tasks, porch time, reading, and patting myself on the back: I secured a reasonable accommodation for one job. I now schedule myself as possible, even at last minute, and subject to availability. I understand that other workers could take all available spots and included this in my request proposal. It is okay. In fact, this is so freeing! When back, voice, or any other part is not ready for the job, I need not push myself to be there. This pushing for the past ten or so years has made me more tired than I should be. All this tiredness has taken a toll on me and my place. But enough of that. It is time to read on the porch, where it is cool, for the duration of the first washer load. Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh........smiling smiley

Chase bank to get them to find out where a large ACH transfer disappeared to. Sender's bank says it left her account 6/1 and was accepted by Chase. This is a recurring transfer (rent) so there is/was no excuse for a screw-up. Aldi for a LONG list of groceries, deli 2 doors from there for some sliced, rare roast beef. Then home to do some food prep for future meals: yellow rice; artichoke, cucumber and black olive tapenade sauteed or steamed shrimp; whatever else strikes my fancy.

I rode my bike to garden plot. I dug up the rest of the dirt, removed weeds and watered a little. I got home and did dishes, 2 loads of laundry and made shepherd's pie with ground turkey.
I went into the dollar store to buy mailing boxes, and stumbled into a trove of emptied dried fruit cartons. With the associate's permission I grabbed eight of them. SCORE! When I mail to family in California I can stay under reimbursement if I don't have to submit a receipt for a box

@Shop-et-al..I have started feeling the same way. You know what I did..I saw some phone shops and then I DID NOT assign them. I've realized, I don't need to be always busy and then get a headache that I can't handle. Time to relax, watch a movie, kick back, or curl up with guilty pleasures like Daniel Steel.
I had some time to kill between work and the burger shop. I was going to go for a hike nearby, but the cicadas changed my mind. I went to Goodwill instead. I got an omelet pan, a strainer pot and a beautiful vase. $10!

@HonnyBrown..Love Goodwill for the books. I used to get children's books in mint condition that I got for less than a buck that were otherwise 20 or 30 bucks. I haven't gone back in a year since the pandemic. I live half a mile away from Goodwill, Maybe, I'll go back in the fall and get some books again.
Ah. Books. Love them! I jumped into the third book of a new-to-me series. One reviewer hoped that the author would find their way back to the previous crispy prose and plotting. Hmm. Perhaps this is why it seems like a slow read. Anyway, the author has won multiple awards for other works.

So today is for more of that book, getting rid of $#@$%, watching movies, and trying to find the relevant thread for something I read recently. I picked up a book from a wonderful and generous free place and discovered something that someone here might be interested in..... not all prescribed diets will work equally well for all people. There is not just one diet for the entire planet! We are all free to find the hacks and tricks that fool our individual bodies into releasing weight. We need nutrition, but we do not need the same diet. I felt so much better when I learned this, and now weight is moving down again.

So away I go to find the relevant thread.....

I came home and did absolutely nothing. No dishes, no laundry, no fixing my accent chest, no looking for shops, no repotting my plants...nothing.

I thought about making dinner. A grilled cheese, an omelet, a burger, so many choices! I skipped it.

grinning smiley When you say absolutely nothing, you mean absolutely nothing.

When hubby says absolutely nothing, he usually means that: I completed multiple loads of dishes, multiple loads of laundry, multiple gigs of my own, multiple units of his work along with him, multiple little tasks such as updating the budget three or nineteen times (depending upon how many times he has chosen to alter how much he feel likes paying for his expenses), multiple meals, and I took a well-deserved nap.

The only thing he might ever remember is nap. It is as if nothing else ever happens. Yeesh.

Although I do very little ironing, most of hubby's buttoned-down shirts need a light pressing. So I ironed 8 shirts that have been hanging up in the laundry room for several weeks. I also ironed 6 of my skirts. Made my homemade version of Shake-n-Bake, which will last for several months in the fridge. Went walking earlier this afternoon.

So we were back on the early job today. It was mostly on time. The offices were delivered late, but no one cares about that. Those people arrive hours later. Then, we went on a little road trip for this, that, and the other errand. While there, hubby learned that someone used his bank card in the wee hours to make a fraudulent purchase on e-Bay. The item was for pick-up only and far from us. Too far for this purchase to be logical, sensible, or likely to be true.* Hubby did get a refund and some intel from the bank who issued the card that was used. He did not figure out how someone could use his new login information and make the transaction. He does not believe that the strangers he yaks with all day long might have hacked him... and he believes that they are honest, too. I remain skeptical.

* Did the buyer know exactly when the card would have more money? If so, how? Did the buyer know that the purchase would fit hubby's interests profile? If so, how? Were hubby and this purchase chosen because most people would not question that hubby would be likely to buy this item? Am I but a conspiracy theorist? Well, why not. This kind of crapp has been going on for more than a year.

The good news is that he found out about this today and had time to commune with the seller and e-Bay before the buyer could do more harm.
