What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I am a bereaved parents. Never knew I had a month.
I will enjoy, ice cream month, park and recreation, and make a difference to a child.

When I make a note to myself on my phone, noone else is paying attention to me, I am not impacting them.
When I read a book/ magazine on my phone, at the dentist/doctor, it just replaces the magazine/book I used to read.

A few gigs, a grocery stock-up, and watch fireworks later. I just go to the edge of my back patio, look up, and there they are. Meanwhile, if we buy or make potato salad (it is one of hubby's go-to holiday things), everyone may be assured that no Mr., Mrs., Ms., Junior, Senior, Elder, Younger, Male, Female, Intersex, Pan, Non-Binary, Asexual, Excessively Sexual, Other Sex, White, Red, Gold, Yukon, Idaho, Sweet, Yammy, Oval, Round, Bumpy, Blemished, Eared, and/or other potato will have been harmed in the process of the production of the potato salad. By the time fireworks light up a bit of my night sky, I will have given thanks to the Creator for those who planted and grew the potatoes that were part of my day. Happy Fourth of July to all who observe! smiling smiley

I checked out the competition at a nearby food pantry on Friday. I gave the bulk of the contents to my cleaning lady on Saturday.

I finally put together the rest of my accent chest. It looks so nice! I just can't open the doors.

So I slept until 7 a.m. This feels... strange, but good. The first part of the day is all about exercise, bills, more of a book, and adding to my reading wish list. Then, there will be nap and work,.

Made plum sauce with the kiddos. It came out good because we used our own organic plums and didn't add too much sugar.
Worked late last night, woke up early this morning, and just started the day's little tasks. I will definitely need a nap before work!

Taking pictures of and posting a ton of things on Freecycle groups near me. Four items claimed within the first 10 minutes.
Managing paper trash; trying to set up next week's MS schedule; folding and storing clean laundry; cleaning hal-bath; KP; pausing often to lie down on heating pad to ease sore back.

Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Workout, read (will finish a book today), and a few house tasks before nap-then-work. My world has transformed from everything stems from early job into every day, there is nap-then-job. This still leaves little time for the seemingly endless projects, but it provides more money directly for me. The hours are as published, and I always know when the job begins and ends. This is a good thing.

I made a rookie mistake during a shop this morning. I went to the wrong location.

I have a headache. I need to clean, rest, and pack for my trip next week but I think I'm addicted to doing shops!
Sent my younger sister who lives several states away a fun surprise for her birthday.

Thank-you.

Like Wales, I am alternating up-right household tasks with resting my sore back. Have no idea what caused it!

I need fun ideas for surprises. Is it something you can share?

Got the results yesterday of my brain MRI, to check on the condition of the benign meningioma. All is good! As a matter of fact, my neurologist said that for my age (68), my brain actually showed LESS signs of "ageing" than she would expect to see in a brain that age!! WOO-HOO!!
NOW....if I can only remember where I put my keys!! LOL!!
@guysmom. glad everything is okay. Maybe MS is keeping your brain sharp! I have a dentist appointment tomorrow. Annual cleaning. Last year, I had to cancel because of COVID. For the past few days, my gums have a bit of swelling. It keeps going up and down. Maybe the dentist will have a better idea about what's going on. Just some of the perks of getting old....bizarre ailments.
So on the same day when I reached burnout at my job, I found out that I and/or my computer are not compatible with the requirements of a much-wanted upcoming gig. I had to cancel because whatever was supposed to exist and be clickable (according to the published and printed guidelines) did not show up on my computer. The set-up process stalled.

But there is still something good. Right now, there is a breeze, critters of all types are playing near the porch, and I am going to enjoy them. This is excellent. smiling smiley

I did complete everything except what was not do-able. I apologized for being so fussy and asked for assistance with the one unfathomable part of this otherwise easy process. Wish me luck, and say a lil' prayer for the beleaguered scheduler who must deal with me...

Dentist appointment went well. Turned out to be a tartar buildup that was causing the swelling. My mouth feels so light now that the swelling is all gone. I started uploading all the study material I made to a website designed for teachers and students. My daughter's teacher was so impressed by the lessons I made online, she said I could sell them. So, I uploaded them all one by one. I am thinking about becoming a teacher. I have an MBA and Masters in Commerce from my country so will have to look into what credits I can get for my degrees. I could go into banking but I don't want anything full time. Not sure if I am going to put any plan in action. Time will tell.
In my area they’re always looking for qualified substitutes. When I did it 15 years ago it only required 60 units of college credit (in any field).

Taking my non-driving neighbor to get her first vaccine dose. She is very high risk but was apparently unable to quite understand how to get scheduled. So, yesterday we sat at my computer and I got her registered quite near home. I will be sure to get the follow-up shot scheduled and get her to it.

After I have picked her up later this AM, I will have a lazy day; the coming week's schedule is going to be a bit crazy.

@walesmaven: Good luck with your housemate. I hope that they will have whatever they might need to help hem feel better after each jab (just in case you are working when they are having vaccine responses).

@Mum: Subbing is good. What about teaching community college courses or teaching community outreach courses? These might have various names, depending upon where you live. In a different situation, you could teach as a teaching assistant while obtaining another degree if you still want one. (I have pinned down the exact classroom job I would want: nothing that requires my degrees. Rather, it is the teacher's assistant job in a classroom where an extra pair of eyes leveled at potential miscreants, recalcitraants, truculents is sufficient to quell any issues before they even begin. I discovered this while subbing in a classroom which had numerous students who struggled in various ways. The teacher was free to work their magic with them while the assistant, literally, kept an eye on things and with no more than a calm gaze stalled any potential issues that would have disrupted an otherwise productive classroom. The person was no less than a parent of one of my classmates who just knew what to do. Back then, then, the assistant graded papers, took roll, and completed other small tasks that freed the teacher to focus on the students. I do not know if any other classroom uses this system, but I would be a good fit for the assistant job now. Being the substitute teacher there was actually easy as compared to other classrooms where management was ~ 80% of the day. Aaaaaahhhhh.... *dreams of this job but has no hope that it still exists anywhere*..... but thank you for letting me dream of a little job for awhile...)

So today I am relaxing until work. I need to work too many hours for a few more weeks, and this is hard for my voice. It was the worst last week when I had to apologize to people because my voice was disappearing, squeaking, squawking, and otherwise being a pain in their ears. Fortunately, I got a hunch and went to a fave store (not a shop). I said that if I were a singer and my voice were froggy, what would I need? The assistant knew exactly what I needed and I was armed immediately (well, throated) with just the thing that will keep me working at this talking head job. Nice! Another good thing is that my gracious scheduler has me all set up for my upcoming ongoing gig which does not need my voice. I still do not see the method of completing the one aspect of the set-up on my screen, but the scheduler could access that and all is well now. Perhaps I can use a different browser when next I access the assignment and see what should be there. ?
