What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Got up early to find out if it will be feasible to combine gigs and with visit with mil on the same day. It is not. It is enough to have a brief visit and hurry home in order to be ready for a potential shop the next day (I am the backup shopper).

I found a place to fix my windshield through my insurance for $50 less than my $250 deductible. They are coming out on Friday afternoon.

No more ants! The peanut butter in the bait did the trick.

Went with hubby to his "work in" cardiologist visit today. He's been having some symptoms which could be cardiac, and since he has 3 stents, we figure he better get checked out. Cardiologist said it could definitely be a cardiac issue and has set up a heart cath for hubby for next Tuesday morning. Also told him to be sure and take his Nitro when he feels the dull chest pains, so hubby got a new prescription and started taking Nitro as needed, starting yesterday....and hubby was SO surprised that they worked at relieving his chest discomfort! (Husbands....!!!!) The great thing is that the dr doing the heart cath will be the same one who put in the stents 3 years ago, so he will be familiar with his case. Dear hubby will be 80 on Aug 21st, and he's otherwise in very good physical age for his age. I'd like to keep him around for awhile. In Sept, we'll have been married for 33 years.
Worked from home and will continue for the rest of the week. Monumental for me today was scrubbing 2 kitchen mats today by hand and the stove top. I lead a very glamorous life you know. Ha, ha, ha.
Wishing for a new voice. The old one is just... tired... or, as one doc said several decades ago, might have been damaged even then. Will have to do something about this soon. Bleh. Meanwhile, I might actually add gigs to the same day in which we visit with mil. If I am to take two days off from the talking head job each week, I will need to replace the income weekly or on average for each month. Wish me luck with that. lol at the monumental achievement of cleaning the stove. This is my world much of the time, such as today. We have been commanded by the little girlfriend to do her little errand, which is out of town. My role is simple: I monitor hubby to make sure he drives and puts the phone down so we can get there and back without hurting anyone. There goes housecleaning time, yet again! grinning smiley

Setting up a Kall8 phone number so that I can start a call-and-visit senior living shop tomorrow. Setting up a few new screen names to use for similar shops. Conditioning my very dry hair. Folding/storing clean laundry. Playing Train Station on line.

Today I'm visiting another food bank in my area to see if I can volunteer. I'm getting my windshield replaced at 3pm.

Trying to straighten out a mystery about a prescription refill. Long story. Reorganizing next week of shops. Kitchen clean-up. Yet more laundry.

Phew! I'm pooped, haha! Our son, DIL and 2 grandchildren came down yesterday for a few days. It's so great to have them here, but my lands, I've forgotten how a 6 year old can tire me out, haha!!! It's great for hubby to have them here, too. It lightens his inner, spiritual heart, especially since he's having a heart cath on his physical heart next week.
Baking brownies with grandson then off to see his little league baseball game.
Home tomorrow. 10 year olds are much less exhaustingv @guysmom . Especially at their own home.

DH out to dinner with 2 DDs at Seasons 52. I picked up Mom. We had cheese and jalapeno pupusas. Then she critiqued me as I proceeded to clean the den. Watch tennis Mom!
@Madetoshop: *APPLAUSE!*

Anyone who cleans a den deserves a great big round of applause!

Rec'd a call from a former co-worker (before I hit FIRE) and chatted about current events; mostly the pandemic, data, and the public's attitudes and knowledge. Then spouse indicated hot water ran out while showering. I found the pilot light out. Re-lit and noticed the flame was not steady as if the vent was partially blocked. Disconnected vent and discovered some tree/bush material likely from a past known bird/squirrel activity at the top of the chimney. Cleaned it out and the flame seems to be fine for now. Will continue to monitor. There's always maintenance lurking somewhere to be done...
Workout. Book. Work. Look for 2022 calendar (is it already time for school supplies and fall clothes to enter the stores and web pages??) Try on pants, purchased via the hold up to hips method, at thrift. They fit and are comfy. Go me.

I am amazed that people will opt to live with all sorts of vermin and drugs in the name of affordable housing.

I get that rent in some areas is crazy high. I just did a phone apartment shop in Chicago. Rent for a 2/2 was $3100.

Trying to catch up on a virtual email pile of bank statements to reconcile and investment statements to download. Ugh!

Oh, my. My day started as planned and then became news-laden. Close to home: One of the supervisors at my workplace, who has been fully vaccinated, has covid. It is unlikely that the covid has spread, and this supervisor is young and otherwise strong. Here's hoping for a good outcome for them. Close to heart: Meanwhile, I can hardly believe that Mr. Spears is threatening involuntary commitment for his daughter because she wants to have him removed from his accustomed role as Lifelong Comandante I mean Conservator. That relationship is just wrong on so many levels. He misses the point altogether. It is not about the money. Being good with money is not the same as being good with relationships. What good is more money if Britney is forever denied the opportunities she needs to become informed and make her own decisions? Other people can teach her what her dad thinks she should know. Let Dad be Dad. Let others teach the financial jargon and perspectives. Gah. OTOH, I saw a cute road trip movie recently. At the end of the zany ride, the dad tells the daughter that he did not want her to go to the college of her choice because if she got that far away, she might not need her daddy any more. Aw. This did make me feel better and a bit hopeful for Britney's situation. Perhaps Britney's daddy can let go sooner rather than later...

I did a long exercise walk this morning. I bought some wired headphones from the dollar store. I got what I paid for. I am going to have salmon, peppers and onions for dinner.

Beginning to feel like the official noisemakingpersons for Rice Krispies. "Snap, Crackle, Pop!" Fortunately, I can mix up all the jobs and include some gigs that do not require much voice. This will be my world for awhile.....

Sent chocolates to my little sister ( well, not so little, she is married and has a 3 year old) on her bday via Amazon. A packet was already open with some chocolates missing. Reported and got a refund without the return. Time flies.. The day she was born, I was so mad I picked her up and tried throwing her out the hospital window. Well, in my defense I was only 6.
Wow, Mum...a baby out a window? I hope the relationship improved from there.

I love Amazon's returnless returns.

If lucky, I can stay at home all day until it is time to go to the talking head job. If luckier, I will be able to talk there without too much cackling, crackling, squeaking, and squawking. Lucky and Luckier. Hmm. Not quite fit for a film, but not bad for a day.

Celebrated the bicentennial of Missouri being admitted to the United States by going to the history museum. Walked through some of the displays, listened to a somewhat interesting lecture, and watched a very interesting fiddle performance. Tonight we may get out to one of the ice cream places that are offering promotions on ice cream cones, the state's 'official' dessert.
