What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I have a chicken, spinach and tortellini soup in the crock pot. After my shops, I stopped by Home Depot and picked up a beautiful, tall fiddle leaf fig for $20. It's in the bedroom. I also got some cat grass seeds for the cat.

@maverick1. I do not think anything I may say will make things better. I am so saddened by your beloved furry baby love loss. I feel your pain. Hugs.
I ate so much at last night's team dinner, I couldn't eat anymore so ate my salad and brought my steak home for DH who devoured it. Soooo much delicious food. I received last pick out of 15 guests for White Elephant. Heckled for not "stealing" a gift and chose the last one. It was in a wine gift bag (LOL) but was a bag of chocolate Russel Stover Santa's. Yay! Started crumpling a business envelope that enveloped it. The managing partner called out, "What's in the envelope?" $100 bill. It was his gift. I was thrilled! Some things are meant to be. I am going to slip it to DD#3. Got up at 7AM today, grumpy. We (me and DH) took the tree down and started on the lights. Tree is down but exterior lighting still needs to be tended to. Tonight, going out with 2 couples for a long awaited dinner. I hope those that celebrate Three Kings Day had a wonderful one.
Today was a bright and sunny day. It wasn't too cold either. Regular Saturday things for us. Speech session, errands to the bank, and fun at the park. So happy that yesterday some coupons for Panda Express came in the mail. I think that will be our dinner.
@maverick1 - Sorry for your loss
Will need Sunday and Monday for paperwork. At least it is down to the last drib and drab. One form is in thre mail, and the last one will be be handled via phone call on Monday. Then, assemble and deliver. After that, it is just a matter of time.

@maverick1: pets are like people, aren't they? We love them and miss them terribly.

I normally cook breakfast at the church rectory for six. Today only half that many were there, but no one passed the information along. It didn't really bother me, because I wouldn't have worked any less. However, there were a lot of leftovers in the refrigerator when I left.

Pepper makes requests to go outside now. I leave the screen door open and she comes and goes. Tonight, I heard screams and screeches. When she came back inside, her tail was bushy. No more outside for her. I'd hate to see what the other critter looks like!

Love this blurb about pets: especially as we age, they can provide brain and heart protective benefits. Have always loved them! Perhaps it is time to add one to the family. grinning smiley Stayed up late to work in the kitchen. Started with a dab of straightening and cleaning and soon segued to boiling sweet potatoes and straightening the dining room. It is pleasant in here now. Since hubby has substantial extra tasks this week, cleaning the kitchen is the least I can do to ease his burden. Nearly finished with paperwork-- huzzah!

Yesterday - the exterior lights and decos are down and put away. Reminder to myself to get lost when he does this. Neighbors coming out and people driving down in there cars stopped to chat with him. Every time they walked away, he would engage them again. I told him I was done with holding the ladder. Took him much longer than required. Today, worked, did two loads of laundry, cleaned up and made dinner.
Son and family finally made it down to visit this past Thursday through Sunday. Last night and today, got the bed linens washed and changed, washed all the towels, went and got some groceries to catch up on what was used up. Chilling now. It was WONDERFUL to have them all here for several days. Glad we were all finally healthy to enjoy our Christmas get-together!
There. Tomorrow I get my clearance mini dress, the hem of which will not connect with leg issue. This replaces skirts that now are too big. Huzzah! It is also the day to assemble my filing packet. I felt so low, so badly, about this until I heard a song on K-love.... "my mess, Your message...." and realized I am human and like many others, take wrong turns or otherwise need an assist to get back to more solid ground. It's all okay.

Meanwhile, I absolutely love everyone's holiday stories! smiling smiley

I listen to K-LOVE everyday.. smiling smiley That is a GREAT station!!!
School is back in session. Day one was tiring yesterday but back on track. Watching Hoarders, cleaning, cooking, and a couple of phone shops. The tree, decorations, lights, were all packed up and the house looks so empty without it. I still see some ppl have their trees up. I saw a FB post where someone mentioned that they will pack up when they are good and ready. Some had decorated their trees for St. Patrick's Day and Valentine's Day. Personally, I couldn't do it. A Christmas tree is a Christmas tree for me..I can wait till next Christmas.
Meanwhile, during the holidays I saw "It's a Wonderful Life" three years in a row now! Next year, I will watch it at the local movie theater. They play it every year.
I took the trash out through the garage. I was sitting in my office and looked out the window. Someone's cat was by the mailboxes. It was Pepper! I go outside to wrangle and I can't find her. I turn around to come back inside, and she's sitting in the window.

Laundry. Order groceries. Bundle up and hunker down at home on this frigid snow day. Can you say, the hot, hot tea, clutch and press pleasure? Today, I have been breathing ginger-scented steam. Mmmmmm.... smiling smiley

Grade two today. No outside recess due to air quality. First for me.
Now watching 1883. It's okay.
It's a good story now, but I was in panic mode.

I had a window dressing company come out to give me an estimate. $1200 for my living room alone. I'm going to DIY and have my handyman install.

Excited for next week. Will begin work with chiropractor. How many of these sequelae of decreased mobility can he handle, and how many if any will he refer? At least we will know how to attribute the unwanted changes and get going on an improvement plan. !

I can imagine you were! I'm glad that Pepper had the sense to run back in the house!
Remembering 'P and J':

Long gone, well-educated, extraordinary communicators. Years later, I would like to implement what they thought would help my communication efforts. Beginning today, I express one idea at a time.

1. Early yesterday, I made haste and waste in an effort to handle an out of town errand. Did not go. Silent ambulance personnel hoisted me under the shoulders, walked me over slush and up ramp, and settled me back at home. Home, sweet warm dry blankets, warmer clothing, and plenty of other things to do. grinning smiley

Hubby and I redeemed the time by straightening and cleaning two rooms. I gave myself the pleasure of ginger-scented steam instead of a sense of shame.

Today, I call my targeted location and we figure out a solution that lets me stay at home. Wish us luck!

Dear Sweet Pepper,

This is your wacky forum Auntie Shop. I have not met you personally and know you only from your human's descriptions. Obviously, your human loves you! They care, and they worry, and it is all about you. Please continue to consider your human's feelings when you are Explorer Cat, Neighborhood Cat, and even Indoor Cat.

Thank you.

I hope your day is better @Shop-et-al

Me, I have to get house in order or start working more and pay someone to do it.
Can't figure out this semi retirement. If I don't work, I do nothing.
I'm going to make Hubby's favourite oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. He wants to take them to hockey tomorrow.
Today was the day to take down all the Christmas decorations and the tree. ~sigh~ All good things must come to an end. It all took a little over 2 hours to get done. Bye bye till next December!
At end of day, am pleased. Straightened an area, updated something for the filing, and washed hair. Ran out of time and will curl it tomorrow.

Best? It is time to release the filing packet/request. Away it goes on angels' wings! See it, in the twinkle of an eye, reach its destination safely and with a spark of hope from the Divine! Well, hubby will drop it off tomorrow. Anyway, I am eager for the second educational component of the program. The course I am using is interesting, clearly presented and easy to hear while reading along with the provided transcript. People who need more visuals would pay more, but at least the option for learners and their styles is available. (You teachers know all about the senses and the learning styles.) It is a true teaching tool, and for monetary reasons, I thank G that the basic and most affordable version suits me! smiling smiley

I don't allow Pepper on kitchen counters or tables. Lately, she has been looking at one counter with curiousity. It is where I planted her cat grass seeds. The pot is in the windowsill garden.

Uh-oh! Wonder if there is some sort of tantalizing aroma coming from it that only Pepper can smell!
Depending on what type of window coverings you want, they can be a cinch or quite complex to put together. However, that way you get exactly what you want.
