What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I think I've talked myself in to defrosting my freezer. Yep, it's an OLD one, about 35 years old. About 6 feet tall. No self-defrost. I've been doing this for 35 years!! Arrgh!! It's really a great freezer! So I reckon I'll put what's in the freezer in my 2 very large coolers, with ice packs, boil some water in 4 large pots later and put them in the freezer and let it melt away!! Then put everything back in a freezer with no ice build-up!!

I need to do that.

Now that's an innovative approach I'd consider! Melting away...
I caught up on my sleep after a very busy week (8AM vs 5 AM), and am cleaning house in anticipation of hosting Gratitude Day.
Happy trails to you BFB!!!!

Book club today. Discussed the book. Ate 6 kinds of soup. We each brought soup. We had buns and cheesecake too. Then we bedazzled books and some people gave us gifts! Sheesh, I didn't plan for that.
Now I'm reading for a different book club and I have a stomach ache.
Brought soup home to Hubby, and he made a sandwich to supplement. I wasn't making supper.

Hiking tomorrow.

Worked and was stressed. Attended an Aqiqah celebration yesterday. What a wonderful time we all had with a beautiful family. I love experiencing culture. So gracious. My Mom was treated like the Queen that she is. So respectful. She was humble and overwhelmed. So much love!
Who's making a whole turkey for Thanksgiving? Not me. Slow cooking a boneless turkey breast. DH is grilling steaks for himself and the rest of the red meat lovers pack.

Guilty! Got the turkey thawing out now. Making 2 desserts later. Also making home-made stuffing. We've asked our neighbor down the street to join us tomorrow for Thanksgiving dinner, and he's accepted. He lives alone, and he's such a good neighbor! Comes up and blows leaves out of our gutters twice a year! (We're soon getting guards for them). Anyhow, we didn't want him being home alone on Thanksgiving if he didn't have any plans. My turkey is a small one...just a tad over 12#.
A Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
I am procrastinating calling the vet so I can have yet another stray kitten checked for a micro chip.

He, I think he, is certainly meant to be a house pet, he's not ferrel.

How they end up here 4 km from town is a mystery. Seems far for a kitten to wander.

@guysmom, loving it and happy your lovely neighbor will give thanks with you!
@Prince, :-). Hope the kitty is ok. We had a 911 with Sr. Furry baby love and #3 ran with him to the vet All is well. Never a dull moment.
The kitten is healthy, and the ferrel cat here is tolerating him, but it seems he must have a home.

Didn't get to the vet. Was my first day at home alone for a long time, so I got stuff done.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I fed the stray cat at the market. I pet him out of habit. Pepper Cat didn't like that.

I'm solo today by choice. My job only gave us today off, and I don't have enough PTO to be liberal. For dinner, I'm having lobster tails and string beans.

My dryer broke. Luckily, I didn't have the usual mountain of laundry. There were three pairs of slacks, a pair of jeans and a hoodie. I hope the slacks dry by tomorrow early morning.

It's time to do a makeup reboot. I need new colors and styles. I mainly do my eyes, and mild glitter is my favorite. Ulta is going to love me!

I am traveling to a 5 day silent retreat.....beautiful location, in the woods....and the meals are communal at long tables...I am interested to see how this all works out.
The teachers can speak however lol.

Sounds peaceful and stress-reducing. I wonder if you'll have lots to talk about on Day 6smiling smiley
Baked a few shortbread cookies. Not doing much baking.

Barefoot--my adult daughter used to be on the board of a world wide organization that sponsors silent meditation retreats. Maaaaybe it's the same group.

Today I signed and addressed about 3 dozen cards for various December Holidays. Each card had a letter or check or sheet of stickers depending on the recipient. It took most of the day and I still need one more address for wandering nephew to say I'm done.
I have a friend who does a few silent retreats each year at various locations. I drove her to one in a remote location. Even though the place had phone service, the use of devices during the retreat was frowned upon. I think it was mandatory that phones were put up until it over. Not that the participants had to be told to do so, they wanted to. It was part of the point of doing a ‘silent’ retreat. lol!
I don't think they belong to any organization....it's a non denominational spiritual museum type place run by a local university...and during the year, they sponsor events of many types - of which is one.

Speaking of cell phones...they are frowned upon there too...but I owed them the balance and I brought my phone to dinner since I store my credit cards there...omg....I quickly whipped out my card to prove that it was just used for payments, not to talk lol.

I took today off. I have a dentist appointment, a DMV visit, a doctor's appointment and some other things that I can't do on Saturdays.

I did a run-through of my taxes. Looking to see if I needed to make any adjustments before the end of the year.
Worked from home today on this blustery, freezing day. Dinner is ON. Yesterday, I did a market research project on the way home from work. Without any disclosure, I could tell it AI related. Very interesting and comical at the same time. I could not pass up the $$.
checked out of hotel, went Christmas shopping, had my favorite mapo tofu for lunch at a great Chinese place,
checked into AirBnB....need to get oriented.
So cold here...

Staying home to provide round the clock care for my new 6 week old kitten. He’s all gray with gray blue eyes, with white paws all around, a white stripe down his nose and around his mouth. Looking to give him a new name. All I can think of is Asher, although I would prefer not to use a human name. Any suggestions?
