What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Putting the finishing touches on my spare room. One of my sisters is coming to live with me. She is in the low to moderate stages of Alzheimers. Thinking of ways to keep her engaged. I.m getting a few back yard chickens again and staking a spot for a few vegetables and herbs. She used to enjoy those things, and I do as well. The local library is less than a block away.

Already, it is a good day. The early job will begin early (on time). I am close to the end of a writing project. Even though I began with the belief that the finished product should fit neatly on one page, I am ending with contentment and a three-page document. Everything there must be expressed. Will it all be understood? Who knows. The situation involves a generations-long nuttiness and present-day oddness. For years and years and years, these patterns have been ingrained and no one has made an effective challenge to them. Now, I make my attempt. The absolute worst possible outcome is that I will hire someone to make a more powerful effort. The absolute best possible outcome is that the message reaches an insightful and understanding soul who will know why it all matters and what it all means. But that is enough of that. (You recall that it is still necessary for me to practice ending the blah-blah. grinning smiley)

Dr's visit to cut out a boil of sorts from the inside of my little toe (who the h__ gets these). Yesterday brought a very big surprise and we'll see what happens. I spoke to a professional about a problem, and the professional was impressed by me and my age and my knowledge about health (food). She offered to contact a friend that owns a woman's center and have me speak to seniors about health and motivation and get paid. Feeling honored, and definitely spending way too much time on the forum for free......

I've been working as a government contractor for the past 7 years. I have applied for many federal jobs, only to be denied. One job was a word for word match to my resume. I was rejected. I contacted my school's Career Counselor for help.

A lot of "down on my face prayer," especially since I bought my house. I'm not struggling, but things are tight. MSing is a huge help.

A position came open at my agency. Career Counselor went into overdrive revising my resume. She used a key word match software as a baseline.

Before resume revision: key word match was 19%.

After revision: key word match was 99%.

I'm floating on gossamer wings! Wish me luck!!!!

Well, let me start off by saying that I watch several episodes of the old Perry Mason shows per week. What I really LOVE is the OPENING MUSIC! And since I tinker with playing the piano now and then, I've just had a real hankering lately to try and LEARN the theme to Perry Mason. I just LOVE the chord progressions as well as the several discords that are in that piece! So....I downloaded the ORIGINAL score in Bb, and it's HARD!!! So I found a simpler version in Eb, and downloaded that. It's 3 pages long, and after practicing for almost 2 hours, I've got Page 1 down pretty well, and memorized. It costs a few bucks to download. Someday, after I've gotten the simpler version mastered, maybe I'll go back and try the original, more difficult score. But even the simpler version has that same sound, chord progressions and discords to it as on the TV show...I LOVE IT!
Irene, think of us as your focus group.

Ouch! That sounds painful. On the other hand, you have some great news!

@HonnyBrown, Hope you get the job!

@Irene_L.A., that sounds like a great opportunity for you
Ditto to the good lucks and congrats! smiling smiley

I completed my little writing project and am free for other things. So I made an offer for a far-away shop. I do not know if the scheduler can approve my request. The most important thing was that I did the math, explained the situation, and asserted myself. (I have come a long way since I began in this business. I can live with and without this shop and bonus. This is a good thing.)

Changed two (hotel) shops at Universal until tomorrow when traffic will be lesser. Today will play at the mall,
and do my Inn@Out for dinner, love that company. Weather devine, when it's good, not to be beaten.

My plan was to do some grocery shopping, but it started raining hard about 9 AM (90 minutes ago). I have NO desire to push a cart through the downpour, so I am choosing to put the task off until later today.

Overtime at my regular job, 1 shop, clean bathrooms, last minute sprucing for when my sis arrives tomorrow, stalking the forum, play with the dogs.
Since I was focused on this job application this week, I neglected my school work. I have a Milestone assignment due tomorrow. Insomnia woke me up at 4am, and I hit the books at 4:07am. I finished the major parts by 9:30pm. WOW!

The only break I took was for a bonused lunch shop.

The usual: early (bwahaha we begin late again!) job, some of the endless assorted house tasks, and whatever workout most closely matches my energy level. I predict that I will feel like a sweet, gentle, yoga with a little Pilates added for strength. But you never know. I could power up to something vigorous. It's all good.

I like pilates. There's nothing gentle about yoga.

Laundry (and lots of it), making routine medical appointments for annual "this and that," two local garage valet shops. One is 1/2 block from a favorite Tex-Mex restaurant. So while parked, I will get carryout enchiladas to provide 2-3 suppers this week. (Not a shop; just a nice treat for myself.) House tidying.

I worked early (the early job is always early on Monday) and did oodles of house tasks. Now, I need a nap. Eventually, I will stop playing on the forum and have my little nap, or at least a quiet time. For the rest of the week, I have one huge project. Bleh. After that, there is a wee possibility that we could go south of the border and experience real Spring. Down there, the lilacs are blooming and assorted other signs of life are splashing themselves around as if to say, "Look at me! Look at me!" I would look at them. :grinning smiley

I know, that's my lame sense of humor.

In addition to all the stuff named earlier, grabbing a hotel shop with a very nice fee, excellent dinner, breakfast and bar menus, close to home; finally making the appointment for a $90 bank shop; snagging several other April shops that play well with the locations for my city parking shops. So, a very productive day all around.
