What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

I made a breakfast stir fry and tried to contact unemployment. After 37 calls resulting in busy signals, I finally got through to an automated system. I pressed the number to speak with someone. Another busy signal.

I am setting up my smart LG TV and trying to make FIOS and Amazon play nice.

Work. Nap. One project.

I sat around all day nursing a headache. But I had my phone in my hand and I found a new couch, a ventless dryer (since ours has gone out and we can't let anyone in our house to install a regular one,) and some new pots and raised garden beds. Now I just need to get the money.
I hope you are feeling better. The stress catches up with me at least once a week and a headache is the inevitable result.
Mine was weather and pollen related. I am much better, thank you. Are you okay now, too?
Me too. I am doing a product evaluation project that needs to be completed by Sunday. I am halfway through. I had planned on working for an hour or so today but didn't. I guess I will work tomorrow and Saturday. Saturday is supposed to be nice and my sister and I have both been quarantined (separate houses) for 2 weeks as of today, so I wanted to spend some time with her on Saturday without having to worry about social distance finally. All of our walks have been from 6+ feet from each other. She's been in town for 2 weeks and I haven't been able to give her a hug! Before she got into town, I hadn't seen her in a couple of years sad smiley
Work. Nap. One project. At this rate, I will finish that one project soon. Oh, boy!

I feel you. I can't visit my sister who only lives an hour and a half away. I usually visit her once a month or so. She's having chemotherapy so it's especially important that she not be exposed, but she's my best friend and I miss her terribly. Maybe you can finish your project and spend the day with her on Sunday?

I did a wine run today.

I'm going to get back into running. This time, it will be solely on soft surfaces. I'm going to walk to the track and walk/jog a few laps, then walk back home. The plan is to do this every other day to get my stamina up and my weight down.

The usual: work, nap, one project. It's the day for the looooong, deeeeep stretching workout.... AAAAAAaaaaaaaaahhhhh.....

The run went well: short and slow.

If so we want pics! Come to think of it wouldn't spandex make a good mask? I hate sewing and my spouse took over my sewing desk anyway. Maybe I'll just put some pantyhose over my head bank robber style.
I think they say if you can see light through the mask, it's a no go. And cotton works best (2 or 3 layers). Probably because spandex fibers are stretchy and smooth, so particulates pass through them easily.

At any rate, it's an entertaining thought.
Virtual church, three nice meals, and (if it ever stops raining) a walk up to Walgreens to pick up Hubby's prescription.

We had a Zoom Easter gathering with my 4 stepkids and their significant others, plus my husband's cousin, wife, and their daughter, and my MIL and her husband. My youngest daughter's boyfriend put together a nice slide show of family photos. Usually by this time of day we are all at MIL's eating Easter dinner and are into our 3rd bottle of wine. I wonder if we will have Zoom Thanksgiving and Christmas?

Work. Finish another project. Workout.

I made a balsamic pork stew in the crock pot this morning. I had some pork left over and made a pork fried rice for lunch. It was the worst! The pork was oversmoked, the egg was hard and the rice was mushy. The worst!

Aww, bummer. I know one way to keep the rice from getting mushy is to use cold rice. Cook it and cool it for a few hours to 1 day before using it in fried rice. I found out the hard way. Also add the egg in at the very end. I usually cook it separately and stir it in.
Thanks JAS! This recipe wasn't thought out too well. I started making it when my stomach started growling, so there went the old rice.

I know: big no no.

I cooked the egg separately in a cute little cast iron fry pan that I love to use. I got distracted with my windowsill plants and over cooked the egg.

First I called the SSA, used their telephone options system to arrange for them to call me back when I made it to the front of the line and then waited about 1 hour for them to call me back. (LOVE that service! Their estimate of when they would be able to get back to me was correct within 5 minutes of the actual time.) Then I was able to change the account to be used for my direct deposits. (Hint, keep the old account open until SSA DDs begin to appear in the new one !!)

Emptied washed and lined, 6 large kitchen shelves. While I had everything out of the shelves, I spotted some things that can definitely go into the donations box. Also found long expired OTC meds to put into the box where we hold such things for the next county meds round-up day.

Changed bed linens. Tidied kitchen. Folded and stored clean laundry. I kept intending to baked cranberry walnut bread, but waves of such fierce rain and electrical storms seemed to arrive every hour or so after the preceding one had dropped 2 more inches of rain. Did not fancy having the power go out with my masterpiece half baked, lol.

The two donations boxes (one for a shelter and one for a charity store) are threatening to take over a whole corner of the living room wile I wait for the recipients' locations to permit donations again after the shut down. So, tomorrow I will sort and reorganize and find boxes and bags for all of the accumulated stuff.

High winds and heavy rain early am. When the electricity went out, all I could think about was the food in my freezers. Not a good time to lose food. Got power back in four hours, thankfully!

Cleaned up sticks and debris from the yard. Inside now, doing laundry.
I moved all the canned goods (there are now so many lol) to a newly set up shelf in the back hall which I will use as a pantry while the shut down is in gear. My upbringing demands that I have a ton of back up goods. I installed a new curtain to the hallway door so no one breaks in to steal the TP. Then I cleaned the shelves where the canned goods used to be and put my cookware on them. I've been needing space so I like this plan. I started some yeast dough for a pizza for dinner and it is on the stove for the first rise. I had planned to make spanish chicken and saffron rice but I am out of peppers and white wine for cooking so that will have to wait.
I miss fresh produce every day but don't want to go to the store and pickup takes at least a week now, so I ordered a bunch of fruit cup pantry thingies from Amazon. Next I will make some chocolate pudding for the wife. She likes it, I don't, but there is milk to use up before it sours.
