What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Yes, they are nothing short of amazing. People still spend $4,000+ on mattresses. I didn't think about the mattress pad until after the fact. Mattress Firm threw in a free protector, but it' just a flimsy sheet.

Honny, hubby & I ordered a new mattress from Amazon. It was delivered about 30 minutes ago. I had the UPS driver and his ass't leave the box on the front porch till hubby gets home in a bit. Ours is a full-size mattress. It's amazing how a full size mattress can be all rolled up inside that box! We're old-school. It's a coil-spring with no extra gel or foam (We've got a My Pillow mattress topper anyhow), and is an 8" mattress. The box that it is inside of is about 5' x 1' x 1'!! I need to go get a new bed skirt today before we change it out.

Truly early job, nap, clean sort something, do more and more work, and think about Thanksgiving.

First, watching the concrete dry before using the front steps and walkway. Will also do a lot of housework during that time.
2 PM will make it 24 hours and safe to use the area. Then, major grocery run plus a pharmacy drive-thru to pick up Rx.

Going out to buy some greeting cards for my mother that's in a nursing home I just wanted a few things she has to look forward to and it's a beautiful day so I'll probably take the bus over and buy some cards. It's a beautiful day to do anything!

Dropping off another Ebay sale item at USPS on the way to a garage shop. Then Aldi for staples on the way home.

Perfection: supplies for early job were ready before 1 AM. This is how it should be every day. !

Plan - clean, declutter, organize entire house.
X-country ski. Read. A lovely plan.
Reality- washed living room floor, watched PVR episodes of Coronation Street and Heartland, sampled Hubby's homemade cherry whiskey and Chokecherry Liqueur.
Did you know Family Feud is a drinking game?
Another kind of lovely day.
Luckily we get along (and won't run out of wine) Looks like we'll be staying home a lot.
It is almost 1 AM and we have yet to hear about the early job...

Meanwhile,I am wondering what I was thinking. I am working every shift next week except Thursday. The money is welcome, but sleep would be wonderful. OTOH, there is no opportunity to go after early, actual, and late Black Friday deals. This time restraint might be the best thing of all. (This marketing phenom might also be a clue as to why some people seem to think there are early, actual, and late voting dates that are designed to make us happy and poorer. But that is for another forum. grinning smiley)

I'm not doing much as I woke @ 12:44 a.m. but went to sleep about 10 p.m. oh well my insomnia is a drag.
Trying today to do yesterday's errands and chore. Wasted a lot of time waiting for road service when I locked my keys in the car yesterday. First time in 60 years of driving that I have ever done that AND managed to do it with a vehicle where it is supposed to be impossible to lock the doors if the key is in the vehicle. Who knew I had such a talent ?!

The good news is that the toll free number for KIA roadside assistance (Free for most aid) worked and the operator and the helper who arrived were both top notch.

I got my hair dyed today. The toner she used didn't go the direction she thought and it darkened my hair. She told me I didn't have to pay for the visit, but I did. Tomorrow is Aldi.

I took Feonia and my little one to a new park. I let her walk around in the park for the first time. Soooo cute. We had Chinese food for dinner! Yum.
At a quarter before 4 AM, we are still waiting to hear about the early job. *sigh* The later this starts, the later it is finished, and the less time there is for naps and everything else I need to accomplish before going to the late job. But in better news, I slept a little longer than usual and have a little boost from the sleep.

In the best news, my jeans were practically falling off of me yesterday. This is a good thing.

How frustrating that job sounds.
WTG on losing weight. I lost weight a couple years ago and haven't lost any more. Seem to be stuck between 2 sizes. Every day I have to decide -too loose, or too tight. Lol
My trip to Aldi's yielded me an oven glove, a car umbrella, cinnamon wafers with a caramel center, cheese crackers, crab cakes, herb stuffing, coho salmon and staples.

The car umbrella is a regular umbrella that will be kept in the car. The melting romano crackers are cheese crackers that I bought last year that were truly addictive. Now, not so much.

Met a lady at a shopping center to sell her my daughter's old roller skates (Facebook). Went to the Farmer's Market. Got 2 bags of produce for $7. Paid the young guy. The old man started talking to me in Spanish and was tickled that I spoke in his dialect. He started throwing in tomatoes and told me to go home and make salsa.
Football, eBay (auctions ending and auctions getting ready to launch), ran some laundry and hung a bunch of it outside in the sun. It's hot here today. Venmo'd the kids money to go buy Thanksgiving dinners, as we are not gathering this year, per the commandant, I mean the governor of CA.
Getting myself psyched up to do 11 days in a row starting tomorrow at work.

It's very nice of you to send your kids Thanksgiving dinner money!
Went to do my weekly grocery shopping at local Kroger. Thought about how when the store is shopped I'm supposed to notice if the floor of the produce dept is tidy or has litter. And there next to a bin of fruit was a crisp Ten Dollar bill on the floor. I wondered how that would be properly noted in a report.
Yet another day of running after toddlers. Grateful that as a grandparent I don't have to do it full time.

Awww, thanks. I feel kind of badly that they (and everyone else) can't have a nice, big family dinner this year.
The daughter went to the grocery store today and got fresh veggies. She's with her cousin in Los Angeles, studying remotely.
The son was playing volleyball (beach) all day, so I guess he will figure it out later. He's alone, unless some of the volleyball women stay at the university. He can actually cook, but I doubt he'll do a turkey just for himself. Hopefully Whole Foods, Gelson's, Nugget, etc has something to-go.

Last year, I worked at the laboratory. Husband was in China (just missed that virus by a week or so). My kids were up north and went with extended family to one of their restaurants for a private dinner. I went out with my childhood BFF and 8 other ladies for a swanky dinner by the beach after work.
Wrapping and mailing 2 more Ebay sales items. Then one shop and, I hope, a professional pedicure.

Monday. No early work, no extra work, and complete freedom until night job. Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh.... became *EEK!* when I looked around the place and saw projects... So I started small. I checked on gigs, accepted some and waited for bonuses for others. I came to the forum and read/posted. Next, I will choose a workout that can be done while wearing a granny gown. (Can you say, put on the walking shoes and get movin'?) After that, I will choose exactly three tiny projects. It is enough.

Well, I certainly wouldn't classify that as "litter"! Perhaps just an unexpected gift!!
Someone might have left if there as a little gift or random act of kindness for a stranger who would find it. ?

Hah. Slept late for the second day in a row. This is a rare treat, and I savor it. I might have to cut back on work hours. Sitting for so many hours without long breaks from sitting is not good for my back. If I whack two hours per week by switching shifts, and stop working extra shifts, I should be able to get through the shortest shifts, have time for back care, and go to bed early every day. I did something like this when I began a few weeks ago. Then, I had two night shifts. Now, I need the day shifts. I can change that in early December. Just now, I need to decide about Thanksgiving food [what makes the largest quantity of the most palatable leftovers] and a wee trip to get to the 12' mark from mil so we can at least wave and say, "Hey!" If that is the sum of the visit, so be it.

*eta*

No visit. imho this is for the best. Hubby just needed to hear it from mil directly. But we got close to her town and had a good day otherwise. Thrift store finds, the beautiful clear day, and a few hours off-line were restorative, somehow.

haus-frauing, possibly testing a Brussels sprout roasting recipe in the slow cooker.
I am highly allergic to leaf mold and we have windy, damp conditions, with deep drifts of leaves all around. Even staying inside is not much help. Sniffle, sniffle, achoo !!!
