Now I can say it: the worst part of being at home instead of at wage job is missing out on the election-time surveys. The best part of those is the spontaneous and explanatory comments. Sometimes, respondents say the most amazing things! Thought provoking, new-to-me information, information that simply must be confirmed or denied later on my time, brilliant rationale for stance... whatever. It is always interesting and I always learn something.

Last night I used a heavy-duty wrap on my hand when I went to bed. This morning the area is visibly bruised, but barely hurts. YEA!
Today was my first day as a part-time parish cook. I talked to the administrator, pastor, and associate. Everyone is making up the job requirements as we go along, but I believe that in addition to doing grocery shopping as needed I will be providing a hot meal on Monday night, Wednesday at lunch, and Sunday morning in between services. I rummaged through the kitchen and discovered it is quite well stocked with equipment.

I can't remember the last time my book club read a book. I do remember the last time we went gun shooting and the last time we went to Sunday brunch!

Today, we left the house at 10:30 to go into town in time for Hubby's hockey. Did a few errands, including a hair cut and one mystery shop, then home by 5:00! Can't wait for bed!

I did my first set of shopping for my cook job today. At home Hubby and I only eat meat about every three months and I am not used to buying it. I could NOT BELIEVE how expensive the bacon, sausage, and pork tenderloin were (even on sale).
In other news, today's mid-70s temperatures will be replaced by mid-40s tomorrow, so I made sure to get as much nice weather as I could.

Prior to COVID, various churches provided breakfast at the food bank hosted by my church. The kitchen was industrial and had every kind of gadget known to mankind. There were Cutco knives in one of the knife cases. Church kitchens are no joke!

The funny thing is that the pastor is a meat and potatoes guy, and it's been a while since I've cooked like that. However, my friend Google is giving me all kinds of ideas.

Hopefully, a little less couch time today. Cleaning my shoes so I can wear them inside and not have plantar fasciitis flare up.

There. Have finished the last of bins that have languished, unsorted, for years. Finishing the absolute final tasks of these projects will involve, on average, a few minutes per day. The next round of sorting tasks can take until spring. There will be no more interference I mean pressure I mean intrusion from inspection schedules then and I can work my work in the best way for me. Huzzah!

Last year a doctor recommended shoes with good arch support for my plantar fasciitis issues. I decided on Birkenstocks. Last fall I bought fleece lined slippers. When the weather got hot I got plastic sandals. I try to keep both pairs for indoor-only use.

@KathyG, I wear orthotics that help a lot. And haven’t been wearing them in the house! And didn’t today as I was going in and out and left them in my boots. Now foot up and wearing my plantar fasciitis splint.

I'm not sure where you live or what winter is like there, but the plastic sandals I bought were styled just like the classic two-strap version, and were only $50.

In case you missed it, today was the last day of a forum cluttered with my seemingly endless meanderings, chortles, self-encouragement, and general project drek. Projects are either completed or scheduled for later. So. What shall I post next? Some are undoubtedly screaming, "NOTHING!"

Today is some major day drinking with the book club. After, I might stop by Chewy to buy some sample packs for Pepper. So far, she likes Meow Mix with shredded carrots and American Journey kibble.
The place I thought was Chewy was Crunchies, a natural pet food store and they were closed. I got Pepper some toys from Aldi instead.
I contacted Amazon to let them know how they are disappointing me on so many levels: shipping times, music quality, and erroneous charges. They gave me a credit for my most recent purchase.

Cooked my first meal for my new job...scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits (from frozen), two bakery-purchased sweet rolls, and bowl of mixed berries. Seemed to go over well.

Annual "head-to-toe" dermatology exam; grocery shopping; locating more things to Freecycle; KP, freezing several meals of pot roast and gravy; nap; making appointment for Moderna covid bivalent booster shot later this week. Previous experience indicates that I need to plan at least 48 hours of "do'n' nuttin" after that shot.

Had to be in the office by 7AM today. So cruel. Home now. I should do some laundry but am going to take a nap. The weather here is raw, cold, cloudy and nasty. Everyone on their own for dinner.

Still not ready to go anywhere as I have aggravated a recent leg injury. So I started a new book, worked out, and sorted and tossed a few things. Later: beloved stretching, some extra leg work, and lessons.

Yay! I can wear slippers again. This is huge because the oddball condition took me on an expensive footwear journey that culminated in my giving up on all foot coverings and staying barefoot. Now, that oddity has stopped and I can wear the slippers. They are not enough in the cold weather and wet exterior conditions. But at least I know that I am on my way back to actual shoes that I can wear in public. Being fit for public consumption might translate into paid work. Work means money. Money is a good and useful thing. This blah-blah is a tiny but extremely good thing. Thank you for letting me chortle.
