Chocolate

I just wanted to see if Bgriff was one of the first responders.

Anyway, recently I had run across two different people at demos who don't like chocolate. No, it's not that they couldn't have chocolate. No, it's not a sugar thing because the product I was demoing had no sugar and was a stevia-sweetened product. No, it's not that they didn't like stevia. The item was chocolate pudding with chocolate bone broth protein mixed in. No, they weren't vegan or vegetarians. And the pudding was made with almond milk, so dairy wasn't even the issue. So: both of these people stated they didn't care for chocolate. WTF, how is that even possible?

Hey, no discrimination allowed here! LOL!

So, the item was made with almond milk though...not a milk chocolate at all.
I have an unnatural attraction to chocolate and DON'T understand!

So it's like chocolate pudding with chicken broth in it?? Yea, I would pass on that. I love chocolate though.

Not exactly. I demo Bone Broth Protein (Ancient Nutrition) by Dr. Josh Axe. They turned BBP into a powder form and have different flavors that are really good. These same people who didn't like the chocolate pudding liked the Vanilla BBP and almond milk drink that I made and thought that the Cinnamon Apple BBP oatmeal was delicious. It's just that they didn't like chocolate. At all. Which truly is odd.
My boyfriend does not like chocolate and I do. I think he's part alien and I tease him relentlessly about that.
It's natural to like chocolate and if someone doesn't I DON'T understand!

I'm not a big fan of chocolate. I voluntarily eat white chocolate. I eat milk chocolate for the caramel and nuts. Dark chocolate is just...yuk.

I love white chocolate. I love milk chocolate. I love dark chocolate. I love caramel. I love some types of nuts: macadamia, pecans, cashews, peanuts, almonds, pistachios, and more...not a fan of walnuts.

bgriff must be busy.
Honny, you have no taste. White chocolate is not chocolate and milk chocolate is for babiesgrinning smiley Dark chocolate is the food of the gods and goes oh so well with red wine...........and port..............and champagne..........

I'm a baby. I love milk chocolate. But I love the others, too. And I know that white chocolate is not chocolate but I don't care. I love it too.
I recently bought a bottle of red wine and chocolate, called "ChocoVine", the taste of dutch chocolate and fine red wine, a bit of Almond or Cashew milk, dabble of whipped cream and it acts as a dessert and after dinner drink...cheers. Dark chocolate is better than anything else, yes, I said anything.....

Someone who doesn't like chocolate would probably starve at my house.

More recently, I just tried chocolate hummus on strawberries. I must say it was pretty good. Not as decadent as frosting on strawberries but for a healthy, less sugar treat, it was pretty delicious.

I love all kinds of chocolate except milk chocolate. It's just too diluted for my tastes. But to each his or her own. I have a wonderful recipe I got from a mystery book called "Simply Crackers Candy" that makes great use of chocolate. For anyone who might be interested here it is:

Ingredients:
1 sleeve of saltine crackers (I used the unsalted tops type)
2 sticks of butter (the real thing is definitely best)
1 cup of packed brown sugar
1 11.5 oz bag of chocolate chips (I usually use dark chocolate chips but any type can be used or the book suggests peanut butter chips too)
1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Spread the crackers out in one layer on a cookie sheet. Melt the butter and brown sugar together in a sauce pan until frothy. Pour evenly over crackers. Bake for 5 minutes the mixture will be bubbly. Remove and sprinkle with chips. Use spatula to spread the chocolate. Gently press the nuts in to the chocolate. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Author Lorna Barret. Book "Murder on the Half Shelf"

These are really fantastic and don't take long to make. The hard part is waiting for the refrigeration part to be done.

What's done is done. An egg cracked cannot be cured.

I have to very sweet friends who do not like chocolate , I personal love the stuff
The true chocaholic, who eats chocolate first thing in the morning...I pass, I need breakfast food, and enjoy my chocolate in the evening for dessert.

I bought a golf sweater that is the color of chocolate. Ostensibly, it keeps me warm cold mornings and a cold office. The real truth is that it is like wearing a chocolate bar and not obtaining any calories by osmosis or ingestion (and without stains on the clothing).

Hershey's sells these small bags of sugar free dark chocolate pieces. They're rectangular and small, but oh, so good!! I love having a pack on hand all the time!
I love chocolate and my husband is not a big fan which is beyond the understanding of my chocolate lovin' brain. I love dark but don't have anything against its other siblings. My husband says that chocolate is sickeningly sweet and overpowers everything. I say "Yeah, that's the point of eating it."

There is technically no such thing as white chocolate. White chocolate is just a sweet substance that contains no actual chocolate.

My brother doesn't like chocolate either. He's by far the oddest member of the family just for that. And we're by and large a family of odd people.

I am not a fan of white chocolate. I do, however, like milk chocolate, I just would never chose it over dark.

As for nuts, I love almonds, pistachios, and cashews but I'm not a fan of things cooked with them and I don't want anything to do with pecans or peanuts.

Also, oddly enough, I detest chocolate ice cream. Won't eat it. Grossness.

And yes, I've been busy and also only read General Chat about 1 out every 10 visits.

OMG you don't like Baklava? And I love brittle. Especially cashew brittle, mmmmmmmm...
I just tried chocolate Almond Milk, it is great, now I don't like regular Almond Milk, I miss ice cream, but found Lactose pills which help, so ice cream here I come...I also don't like chocolate ice cream, but rocky road is o.k.

Live consciously....
Much as I love chocolate, I too don't care for chocolate ice cream except for Rocky Road. I guess the marshmallows and almonds make up for the rest of it. Even when I order BJ's triple chocolate pizookie I always ask for vanilla ice cream instead of chocolate. I know white chocolate isn't really chocolate, but I still like it. My husband can't stand it. My favorite thing with white chocolate in it is White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies. I used to love chocolate milk when I was a kid. Then when I got to junior high, I could get it with my lunch every day. I did for about 2 weeks. After that, I couldn't stand to drink it.

Wow..many ppl share the same feeling about chocolate ice cream! I am not alone. I personally favor Butter Pecan but that's a whole other topic.
I love chocolate, including ice cream, but I don't like chocolate pudding. Not chocolatey enough. I would have passed, too.

You can go off topic if you like. I do it often enough.

I love praline ice cream and butter pecan. My favorite is peppermint ice cream.

They also passed on the chocolate almond milk drink I made. They liked the cinnamon apple granola I made, though.
