Whatever Haagen-Dazs does is always the best....my fav...I did that job once, but can't connect time wise.

I wish they had those around here. We just have pints in the grocery stores, no brick and mortar. We do have some lovely local ice cream places, though.
Funny thing, Rite-aid has great ice cream from the counter, less than Haagen-daz but really very good (half the price).

Wuuuuttt? Ice cream from a counter inside of a drugstore? Transport me in time! I remember that when I was a kid but I haven't seen anything like that in a long time, lucky you. I remember when department stores had candy counters, too. I loved that.

yep, I remember after high school our local drugstore had a counter and we'd run to get a seat so we could see the guys coming in after basketball practice.....yes their taking out the counter, but keeping the fresh ice cream, same, but no where to sit, just outside at their tables and chairs which is fun.

When I lived in SoCal, 20 some odd years ago, we used to walk over to a Thrifty's close to us and get their ice cream from the counter. Not the best ice cream but still it was fun on warm summer evenings. smiling smiley Oops forgot to mention that now that I'm in Arizona I go to a place called Water and Ice and they have Thrifty's ice cream behind the counter. Ahhhh nostalgia. lol

Yes, the Ice cream I was talking about at Rite-Aid is Thrifty's, which used to be a drug store, they went out of business but kept their ice cream which is sold to different drug stores, not in markets, and it's not bad.

Around Christmas I make chocolate bark. Don't ask me why it's only during the holidays because it is so damn easy. For people like Honny, I make white chocolate with pistachios and dried cranberries. For those with taste (LOL) I make dark chocolate with salted cashews and dried Mandarin oranges. I sprinkle the white chocolate version with a bit of Himalayan pink salt while the dark chocolate gets Fleur de Sel.

OMG you don't like Baklava? And I love brittle. Especially cashew brittle, mmmmmmmm...

Haagen-Daz is not the best ice cream. That distinction goes to a small chain based in Columbus, OH named Jeni's Splendid Creams.

Matter of taste...There are many small ice cream places that are the best, we have one in Santa Barbara, not shopped and cost over six$ for a pint. We talk about Haagen-Daz because it is shopped. We have a small chain (in my town) "ColdStone" that holds a top ten spot, but not shopped.

We have Coldstone Creamery here, interesting twist on the name, eh? It's not shopped either, but I think it's a national chain (maybe not in your area), but it's not regional.
Coldstone is a national chain. I'm not a fan.

I meant Coldstone, written before my morning coffee...smiling smiley

LOL. I can relate to that, just finished my second cup of coffee myself. I have had Coldstone a few times, it was pretty good.

I still think the best was when we were kids and my dad had the ice cream churner with the rock salt and all that. And I have a friend in Pensacola, Florida who is a chocolatier (former pastry chef for Commander's Palace in NOLA). He makes gourmet chocolates and other delightful confections. He made some wonderful ice creams that were a little different from the norm at some dinner parties he hosted for friends, pretty amazing stuff (and it wasn't chocolate ice cream).
Just got back from the grocery and McConnell's from Santa Barbara cost 9.00 a pint. I dislike (hate) low-fat ice cream or the lactose free...either has cream, how dare they call it ice cream.....Trying to remember when I first got married, we made our own, it was a family affair, fun and gooood!!!!! I found pills for lactose, but am scared they won't work.

They work fine, just take one before.

Since we're now talking about ice cream (one of my other favorite subjects) some of the best ice cream I've ever had was at a place called Twisted Cream in Denver. We stumbled on it accidentally when we were visiting my daughter and family. What made them different was they infused alcohol into the ice cream. It gave the ice cream an incredible flavor. Of course they also had regular ice cream for kids and non-drinkers too but their specialty ice cream was incredibly good (and I rarely drink alcohol). Unfortunately, as far as I know, they no longer have a stand alone shop.

Where I used to live in Florida they had a drink called a Bushwhacker that was made with Kahlua...not sure if it even had ice cream in it but it had other kinds of booze in it besides Kahlua I am pretty sure, and it was wonderful by the pool on a hot summer day. My friend who worked at the Ramada Inn Grotto Bar (waterfall and swim-up bar) made them for us Those things are so good!

Where's kimmiemae? She's all about alcohol-infused creamy drinks...spiked mocha lattes, mmmm. BTW, sassy, you can talk about anything you want in this thread.
Last time visiting daughter in Chicago, and watching Foodnetwork, I found out about a restaurant owned by an award winning chef called "The girl and the goat", and wala, it was within walking distance of my daughters condo. We went later and sat at the bar having their special ice cream injected with mint liquor...she injects her desserts with different liquors and it was the bomb, so different and good. Takes 2 months to get a reservation.
Loved sharing that, made a memory.....I'd had at home, vanilla ice cream with Kahula poured over, yum.

I really like their Belgian Chocolate Chocolate, with flakes of chocolate mixed in. I don't think I've seen Bavarian Chocolate. Maybe you've got the name wrong?

BTW can someone give me a hint about which company shops them? I found them last month but thought that my local store had closed. I was at the mall today and found that they were just renovating and are open again but now I can't remember what company it was that had the shops (unless they're just gone for the month). The one I was thinking it was starts with an S and has a site that ends in "validateddata.com".

Thanks.

Per forum rules, we cannot give hints. So sorry.

I thought the rules were that you could give the first letter or similar (or confirm that the site I thought it was is correct). Maybe a different board.
First letterss? I did not know about that rule.,

The only "rules" I know of it that you follow the Independent Contractor Agreement (ICA) that you signed. If the ICA has a confidentiality clause, and 99% of them do, you have agreed not to reveal their clients to anyone at any time OR any details about the client or the MSC that you learn as a mystery shopper. MSCs are our clients and it is simply professional behavior to honor the contracts we sign with them. Giving a "hint" like the first letter of the MSC or a cute name to describe the MSC or the client, done specifically to reveal the company violates the confidentiality agreement in my mind. We are pretty lenient here. We discuss the details of particular shops, which technically violates confidentiality is some cases, but our forum prohibits revealing the clients and we try to adhere to that.

The only legit rule I know I could give you is that the MSC that does the ice cream shop I am referring to is NOT a Sassie, Metrics or Prophet company. So that should narrow it down for you.
I've posted before which half of the alphabet the first letter of the MSCs name was in.
I'm in Whole Foods and there's a table giving samples of Nancy's Gelato, dark chocolate, rum and choc. chips...
oh my it was good, comes in a jar for only a mere 8.99...sad smiley
