Arizona Senator Flake

I think catlassy is saying she would go ahead and fess up about stuff she did when younger, as most
responsible adults would.

Someone who lies to save their own ass will lie about anything. How can you trust this person to make ethical decisions about others when he has no ethics of his own?

I dunno. I was not there. I was *looks around furtively, whispers* land grant all the way. This is very far from an Ivy. However, I noticed something recently. People have bashed others who have questioned the accuser's description of events or who have wondered whether an attack happened at all. People have bashed the defendant for making statements that they do not like. It is as if some people have decided what must have been even though there is nothing that proves anything and it really does not matter now anyway.

As for confessions, no one needs to confess anything anywhere that I can find out about it. Priests, good friends, others... those are good folks to hear confessions. I do not want that from people whom I have never met and who are not obliged to tell me anything that could be confessed. Please, handlers, do not let them confess publicly. The public has, at most/best/worst, a prurient interest. Ick.

I do not care about their pasts. I really would like to know more about who and how they are now. Now is the time when they can demonstrate how they have applied what they learned in school and after school. Now is what matters.

Unfortunately, Mr. Kavanaugh is being held hostage- in a manner of speaking- by Dr. Blasey-Ford because she does not know what happened and cannot reconstruct that. Her inability to process a possible past incident remains her ongoing personal issue, yet her personal trouble has spread outward and crept into the Congress of the United States. Is it reasonable for this personal issue to take up Congressional time, considering that other, directly relevant resources are available elsewhere for Dr. Christine Blasey-Ford to use?

Now is a good time for that professor to do the personal work- elsewhere. Christine, Blasey-Ford (and ACLU, etc.), please set Mr. Kavanaugh free from your personal issues, vendettas, assaults and attacks so that he can live his life now. Another reason for you all to stop behaving like dogs yanking on a bone (I remind you that Mr. Kavanaugh is a person) is that other people are observing you from near and from far. Are you really doing what is right for an entire nation, or are you wrapped too tightly within the confines of your narrow, damaging agendas? Thank you.

Yes, now is what matters. He just lied through his teeth. That matters.

That he wasn't there, and many more, guess you didn't watch it, yet your so sure he didn't lie????????

In the 20 minutes from when I posted to when you posted, shot-et-al...I was doing something else besides waiting for you to post something.

He lied and said that he was legal to drink. He wasn't. And there were many more.
Honestly now it's "our" problem to deal with, because if the FBI doesn't do a thorough investigation (which they are probably not allowed to do), he will sit on the SC and there will be nothing we can do about it. Disgraceful.

Wowza. He said he was legal to drink and he wasn't. Well, at least he is in good company. Legions of other students have done the exact same thing. It's a thing. The multitudinous others may or may not have been caught. They are not being attacked as Kavanaugh is. You have been put on notice: if you skewer Kavanaugh for this, you will have to hunt down all the other students around the world and skewer them, too. Perhaps the good news is it will cost less because they bring their own sauce. bwahaha. Are you ready to put your great cooking skills to use?

(Sauces, gooses, ganders... such silliness so early in the morning. I really should have a cuppa or maybe a trougha before reading the forum.)

One of many lies, that was just one example of a string of lies, including his sexual exploits. And other students are not trying to get a seat on the Supreme Court.

I could pull out all of your long-winded posts and number them too, but gawd, would that be boring. But that doesn't mean there haven't been many of them. Yawn. Maybe I need a cup of coffee to detract from the tedium of reading them...not that I usually get much further than the first few sentences. Off to work I go, better things to do with my time today.
Three words. Don't read them. grinning smiley

Don't worry, most people don't.

Hey, all the rest of the forum members, have a great day!
But you might want to consider the possibility of bragging. Did they lie about their boozing and sexing in order to seem cool, or to offset any other rep they may have had? This is another that many other kids have done. If they had to live the rest of their lives based upon those false reputations, they would never get out of prison.

This is why we need to consider the possibility of discarding the past. If we push for it for Kavanaugh, we push for it for ourselves and for our own kids, and we trap everyone in real or social prisons for stupid things we did when we were young and stupid. Do you really want this for yourself and the kids in your life? Or, do you want yourself and your kids to have a chance to demonstrate that they eventually figured out who they were and that they now are living in the truth of more developed selves who know better and probably won't make the same mistakes again? It's up to you. If you want this for Kavanaugh, you also want it for yourself. Are you absolutely certain that you want us to put you in social prison for the rest of your life for all the stupid things you did before you had learned enough not to do it?

Shop-et-al...one more thing for you to digest.....he is a JUDGE lying in front of God, Congress and the world on T.V., do you really trust him, or his judgement.....no, not like millions of others that lie.

A newly released consideration is that Blasey Ford has been accused by an ex-boyfriend of lying about polygraph preparation during her testimony. Mind you, I am cynical and at first I though, "Mmm hmm. Ex. Sour grapes". But this person was present for several years, and it is possible that their information on the one point is reliable. Earlier, someone jeered that if the judge will lie about one thing, he will lie about anything. This person should now turn the argument back to the accusatory professor. If she lied about one thing, how many other things is she lying about and has she lied about at any time in her life?

What he has allegedly lied about: is this likely to impact how he evaluates information that is presented to him? As a judge, he does not testify. He evaluates information and monitors court proceedings. According to many resources, he does this well enough to be considered for the Supreme Court. As Supreme Court Justice, he does not testify. He evaluates information that is presented to that court. The information is evaluated by eight other Justices. At the end of each case, the Justices provide two separate, considered reports: the majority opinion and the minority opinion. At this time, the past is not as important as the present. The past is gone, over, and done. Now, Mr. Kavanaugh is operating as a person who is effective as attorney and judge-- and so good at it that he can serve on the Supreme Court.

Fortunately, one of the members of Congress asked a protestor how the protestor would feel if their son or husband were being destroyed on the basis of an uncorroborated story. I do not know how the protestor responded to that.

Another little bit of lying is just... too... silly to ignore. Every time we put on our faces, we are hiding something, or shading the truth of our contours. The facts of us are obscured. Uh-oh. Are we to be debunked for this long-time habit of presenting falsified information? If we color our hair, oooohhh, mama! Impeach us immediately!

The intellectual hoops you jump through in order to excuse all his lies and inexcusable behavior (in a supreme court judge) are quite astounding. But rock on. You have made up your mind. BTW i am quite familiar with the work of Byron Katie. It is for use in personal work coming to terms with our fears and thoughts. Not for use in excusing criminal behavior. As I said elsewhere. They are not mutually exclusive.
Dr. Ford was not accused of lying by a boyfriend, it was the other woman that said he abused her (can't remember her name). Please get facts straight. I find it odd how you seem to be in the TRUMP cult.....
but yes, rock on, your just having fun and not trying to find the truth, but perhaps liars stick together.

Live consciously....
Noooo... Dr. Blasey Ford's ex-boyfriend made a sworn statement regarding one of her statements made under oath. She swore that she had never coached or prepared anyone for lie detector tests. The boyfriend said that she did that. Did she lie? Did the boyfriend even know what he heard or saw her doing? Was she doing something else that he misidentified as prep? I was not there, and I do not know. I merely mention these things to remind people to question fairly. If you question Kavanaugh, also question his accusers. About Kavanaugh, I have one question. Why do some people push for more background checks? He passed the previous ones, and the most recent one duly and properly focused on the alleged incident from 1982. It is as if someone is trying too hard to persuade us that the monster under their bed is real. Why is this happening? Why is someone trying so hard to prove their foregone conclusion (the monster under the bed is real) instead of accepting that the available relevant information is insufficient to support the allegations of sexual wrongdoing. About the accusers, I have a few questions. Why are they bringing their flimsy information to the world? What have we to gain from it? Shouldn't their situations be handled in other ways instead of brought to the world at large? When I think about victims, I think about many people in the world who are tortured and suffer until they die or are rescued. I wonder whether these three American accusers have suffered anything at all, or whether any suffering is buffered by assets such as education, abilities, comfortable living, etc. This is not intended to start a martyr war as much as to attempt to distinguish between whining, whinging, clamoring for attention, and suffering from severe or prolonged lack of proper attention. Do the Americans suffer, in their own ways, from a lack of proper attention?

I like your word choice. Why was he angry? He was angry because he and his life and his family were being crapped on by a bird who has not told a reliable story.

I posted something about this on the karma thread, but it might be a good idea to mention it here, too. In contrast to the vague and unclear Americans who have been crapping all over a Congress, a judge, a President, and a nation, there are good and hopeful things happening for victims of sexual violence. International Justice Mission, lesser known organizations, and the winners of the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize are effective in locating, rescuing, and helping victims.

Shoppersouthwest, don't bother feeding the trolls. This one has been around for a long time and she thrives on being contrary and trying to get a rise out of other forum members.

Well, JAS, since you apparently do not appreciate what the prize winners are doing, we can try another subject. How do you feel about the Latina women who are building a safe network for abused immigrants? I love this and will mention it in the beauty thread.
