Sunny. Warm. If it were a play day, I might have worn shorts.

This afternoon the temperature was 19 degrees, but I couldn't stand the thought of another mall walk so I bundled up for an outside one....silk long underwear, heavy coat, fleece balaclava, and two layers of gloves. I couldn't find my sock liners, so my feet ended up being the weak link that sent my back inside after about 20 minutes.

Aside from wind that blows late winter/early spring stuff everywhere, onto me, and-- I swear!-- all the way through my mask layers and into my achoo zone, it has been just right. For me thirty five before wind chill feels like a perfect spring day any time of the year. Love that!

0.1 + inch of ice has formed on deck, road, walkways, front porch. Accumulation growing and predicted to grow for many more hours.

Heroic housemate located a source of ice melt and took a cab to get a good supply ! We were totally OUT of it before. And yesterday we could not locate a store that had a supply.

I am a few hours north of Walesmaven. It is just starting to rain, but no accumulation of ice yet. I hate, hate, hate freezing rain. I have spread ice melt out in advance, similar to how they brine roads these days.

People seen to have flaked on the Many Men burger shops for this evening. They are highly bonused. But not nearly enough to pay the deductible on my car insurance. smiling smiley

Yet another small amount of snow overnight. It was 3 degrees when I woke up, but with a 'real feel' of -13. Today is forecast to be the warmest of the next three days.

Snow Again. This is not so bad when the wind is not blowing.

It is raining and we have a couple feet of snow with a lot of ice. I walk carefully these days. One of the women in my building fell down and broke her hip.
Sunny and cold, yet warm enough for lingering snow and ice to melt.

I feel bad to say it was sunny and 57 degrees today.

Sunny. 50 something degrees. Little wind. Clear, Bright. Not a chance of becoming too hot.

Perfect!

Although it's supposed to be almost 10 degrees cooler than yesterday, 57 degrees is still lovely. Some rain came through right as I was getting out of bed, and another band at lunch will last pretty much for the rest of the day.

Sunny. No local hint of storms in the region which could impact the timeliness of the early job.

Unless another storm comes through, my snow fun has ended for awhile. We can get out, do not need a sled, and simply await road openings. Then, we can receive work supplies and go back to work again.

Due to Daylight Savings Time change and clouds the past two mornings have been December-dark. It was gloomy until 15 minutes ago. The sun came out and it's almost 50 degrees. Could Spring really be here?

Severe thunderstorms with the potential for a significant tornado outbreak are hitting the US Southeast Wednesday after the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center issued a rare "high risk" level warning.

Long-track, intense tornadoes were expected to begin in parts of Louisiana and Arkansas on Wednesday afternoon and then spread eastward and peak at night in Mississippi and Alabama, the center said. Atmospheric conditions across the region make this threat for tornadoes as bad as it gets.

The high level threat covers 3 million people, and in all, about 45 million people are under a severe weather threat from the storms and could see tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds. Adding to the concern is that nighttime tornadoes can be more dangerous given that people are sleeping and may be unprepared to take immediate shelter.

The risk level for tornadoes and severe storms was raised to the highest possible level -- 5 out of 5 -- a rare incident, the center says. The last such high risk was issued in May 2019 when the central Plains were hit with dozens of tornadoes and flash flooding.

We had almost 70 one day this week and 67 another day. Yesterday it got gusty winds, rain, sleet and now the ground is covered with snow and we have flurries.
Snow. Not enough to qualify as fun or emergency. Just enough to layer up before going anywhere.
