PayPal Debit cards

Did anybody else have trouble using their PayPal Debit cards today or this evening? My husband tried to use his card at a Marathon and it was declined. So then I tried my card for the same company account and it said "invalid card". I went back to the car and got the blue PayPal card for my personal PayPal account and I got a message for that card too that said "invalid card" and this was at a Circle K. I thought it was a system problem at the Marathon but all three cards for two totally different accounts. I've messaged PayPal but haven't got a response back from either account.

You need to call the lost/stolen number and ask a representative, not the regular number. I had the issue another time at Walmart a few times. They told me they had transactions at certain retailers that were fraudulent on a frequent basis, so they declined my attempts. They took off the restriction after I called. It does not matter if you used different cards, they know there is a connection between the users on your different accounts.
Why would they suddenly do that when we always use are cards at the same gas stations? I've ms the same Circle k in the past? One account is a business account with his name as the primary. My blue card is my Personal PayPal account...Two totally different accounts in different users names! He tried his at Marathon in one city I tried mine at the Circle K in a totally different city...
I used my business debit PP card on a grocery mystery shop yesterday (the 9th) and did not have any issues.
I cancelled my account with PayPal. I kept getting "invoices" from people working with PayPal. That's not for me. Send me a bill for nothing and maybe I'll send you money for nothing?? Lol
So many of the MSC's pay via Paypal. Do you shop with any of them and how are you paid? Just curious.

Please don't use a debit card. You have no consumer protections. If thieves get to your account, you're screwed. Use a credit card which limits your liability to $50.
There are so many scammers/phishing attempts out there, they probably were scams. Sorry that happened to you.

We get paid via PayPal. I got a response back on mine saying they were having issues and working on them. They said hopefully it will be fixed in a few hours.
They are not working with PayPal, they are scammers using PayPal, just like the people who send emails using Gmail telling you to send $1000 so that you can claim a $1,000,000 prize. Don't blame PayPal or Gmail,or your cell phone company (for scam texts).

myst4au is correct! Do NOT use the link(s) in those messages to access your account/ Delete the message and then log into your account as you normally would. You will not find any weird charges like what the email mentioned!

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Actually, when I looked in PayPal, there was a request for payment from a scammer. It was for over $400. I had never heard of them and had never ordered anything that I owe money for on PayPal. I told PayPal to ignore the request. The scammers are counting on people just paying "automatically". This is similar to scammers who send paper invoices to schools and companies, generally for office supplies (companies) or books (schools). They hope that occasionally the fraudulent invoices actually get paid. Now that they can email invoices, the cost is essentially zero, so 100% profit.

When you see a paypal email that appears to be a scam or phising email, which is what it sounds like you received, it is a good idea to forward the email to spoof@paypal.com.

Thanks for sharing that information. I had no idea. I know several people who hate PayPal and stopped using them. However, We have used PayPal successfully without difficulty for over 5 years.

Very good advice. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
About 90% of the time, I can use my Paypal card (or any other Debit card) as a Credit Card. When you're in a store and you insert or swipe your card, when it asks for your pin, just hit Enter (or once in blue moon another key, that the pinpad will tell you to press to by-pass Pin), and you don't have to risk your Pin that way. Also, some places let you choose Credit specifically when you insert or swipe card. On those rare occasions that I use my Paypal card for an online purchase, I always use it as a Credit card and not a debit card.
I NEVER use my Paypal card or ANY debit card at a gas station....always a credit card. DH uses his bank debit card at a gas station....I've asked him over and over again to PLEASE use a credit card at gas stations! But he's been doing this for years and years, and he just keeps doing it! (One reason why we have separate bank accounts!!!)
I think you guys are paranoid. I never had a credit card to use until 5 years ago. You are supposed to check the CRIND and the CCR for tampering and additional spaces (behind the CRIND) for copying devices. Until a "financial expert" tells me I can't do it anymore I'm going to keep doing what I have to do to survive.
This isn't even what this post was about. You guys must be ADD/ADHD because you don't even know how to stay on topic.

Debit cards have similar consumer protections as credit cards. If theives spend on your card, the bank will get your money back.

A few years ago I bought a jacket on a designer's website and used PayPal as the form of payment. I returned the jacket, but PayPal held my refund. I filed a consumer dispute and they released the refund. After that, they held my shopper pay for reasons unknown. It appeared on my credit report.

A shopper here told me to contact their fraud department. They figured out the problem and set everything right. I didn't use PayPal again for years. I received my shopper payments by direct deposit or even debit card, anything but PayPal.

I didn't realize there were so many options. But then again, I've never had an issue with Paypal, so never looked. (Hope I didn't jinx myself!)

Hey, you go run around with sharp scissors, ok? smiling smiley Once you know someone who had their identity stolen / financial accounts breached, and you hear the effort that they went through to repair it, you'll exercise some risk management skills.

Back on your topic...No, I don't have trouble with debit cards. A debit card is for people with bad credit or unable to get a credit card. Furthermore, I won't ever use a card that is linked to one of my accounts.

But hey...you do you. Good luck!
