jmridgeway-Watch them

Watch jmridgeway. They didn't pay me for 3 shops until I emailed them after two months after doing the shops.

I just received a check (what seems to be a personal check) for shops from early May. Once they were reminded, it did arrive quickly. I've not done much with them, but my experience has been it's usually that way.
I have never done any work for this company due to the numerous payment issues I've read, however I am curious what their pay schedule is. Compared to some companies 2 months isn't that bad, but if they are supposed to pay monthly and you still have to bug them for your money that could be annoying.

Their pay scale seems to be a minimum of three months out and only when they are reminded.
I only did one shop for them, and I have to call and ask for my payment. Once I contacted them, they were quick to pay. Everything I have read about them says that they do pay, but you always have to call and ask for payment. Too much hassle for a low paying shop, in my opinion.
What a shame it is how these companies demand perfection from us in reports, and then must be reminded to pay us. I'm so thankful for this forum in how it's not edited down to pretty up companies' reputations; without it, I bet I'd be chasing after my money with a number of companies.
did their shopping mall trifecta... i got the $45 in a month as agreed... i dont want to do the shops again though... i spent way to much time... like 3 hours for the 45 bucks... and i am sure the reps would recognise me... they dont have anything else in my area...

I agree with all who've responded to this thread. My pay only arrived after I sent my concern, but was mailed quickly in the form of what appeared to be a personal check. In that so many shoppers have had an identical experience, it's possible this is their business plan to permit them free usage of our money and/or hoping for a free ride from a shopper who doesn't monitor their pay.

Could be a free ride. After all who really has time to watch their pay? I have to because mystery shopping is a full time job.
I do several shops for them every month, and am always paid approximately 30 days later. I believe it says in their guidelines that you must invoice them. I learned that after the first 3 or 4 shops, and haven't had to worry since. Also, the "personal check" is not a personal check. If you look at it, it's a business checking account. When you are a small company and get your checks for free, you use them. I usually get paid through Paypal, but have occasionally received one of those checks. What's so deceptive you need to watch out for? If you email them a simple invoice, you get paid. It's certainly easier than Maritz's invoices!

It's been some time since I've shopped for JM Ridway. While the payments were often late and came once I inquired about my missing payment, I have always been paid. A couple times I forgot to email about the payment yet it still came, late, but without being prompted.

There is nothing wrong with the checks sent. Not every company uses a professional accounting system to print up checks. I've received checks from numerous companies that were manually signed by the company owner instead of stamped. I've had a few that were all handwritten, too. Never had a check bounce on me. smiling smiley
