Cirrus

I just signed up with them and took a job. Very good pay. I then thought, hmmmm, maybe I should check. Does anyone have any insights. Are they decent or a PITA?

Um, if you're talking about the furniture shop, I suggest you figure out some keywords and do a search. If we're talking about the same shop (and I'm guessing the answer is yes), proceed with caution...
Yep....I am going to Scandinavia. IF I get the shop.

Proceed with caution? Can you elaborate?

Thanks!!!
Actually, under your initial post you'll see "more discussions" about the company. However, if my memory serves correctly, there is at least one thread about the client.

I've said as much as I can without violating the ICA. You'll find what you're looking for easily.
Isn't that commonly referred to as THE shop from hell that no shopper ever returns to a second time? This is what I recall from reading, scads of interactions requiring names, but no name tags and often no one working the department. The shop itself often taking hours and hours and the report taking even longer. Some type of required purchases and reports often invalidated with no pay and no reimbursement. Please someone, feel free to correct me if I got anything wrong.

Shooooot. See this is where I need to get my act together. Check the board b-4 I take a shop. LOL. Well, I haven't gotten it yet. And I can always tell them my schedule/plans have changed. Not kosher, but if it is that bad....
I think if you do a search on the client name you may find information. Until today I never knew which MSC had the contract and certainly had no reason to try and find it, LOL! It will be better to read some posts from shoppers who actually completed or at least attempted to complete the job. Then if they are a Sassie site you can always delete the app or just send a quick e-mail saying something came up, like you have to have your appendix out. The surgery might be preferable anyway.

LOL! I'm a good guesser! Did I come close to doing it justice?

Thanks, Lisa. Have already had my appendix taken out, but what the heck.

I did the one in the Dallas area 3 or 4 years ago. I think the pay at that time was $50 or $55. I got paid in a timely manner. However, I would not consider doing the shop again for 4 times that rate.

But certainly if you found it was your 'niche' shop you would not have much competition when you were in rotation :-)
Hi I type in the client's name and get a gourmet, organic, upscale grocery store...not the furniture place I am looking for. Not sure what I am doing wrong. nicelytwicely Wrote:

You are getting those because the furniture company was mentioned in the post. Try for all mentions of the company name in the past year and you will get to the posts about the furniture company.
Shop description says 2-3 hours. Are you guys saying it takes 4 times longer than expected? I can't be that bad...The ones in Maryland frequently disappear before the $15 bonuses come out.
I gather a whole lot of it depends on the store and the staffing. A well staffed store where there are clear nametags with pronounceable names for an English speaker are much more likely to work properly and quickly than an understaffed store where what employees there are are hanging out in the break room, have 5 syllable names and hide the nametags under hair or a sweater. But heaven help you if Joe Dzierzanowski grabbed Dave Liederkranz's smock and nametag for the day and neither the description nor the department match.
They also do the shops in the large "home" stores. They take a couple hours to perform (not including the input),but the pay is VERY good ($75 dollars I think).

Their real estate assignments are decent also (apartment shops). Okay pay and the questionaires are fairly simple if you are good with narratives.

Just a quick not on Cirrus (and other Jobslinger jobs). IF your application is pending you can go in and delete the application before the scheduler assigns. Go to your homepage, click "My Apps" and delete that application. I don't think the scheduler even sees you as having applied (though I'm absolutely NOT sure there)
Hi. I did this shop a few months ago, and it took me three hours in the store, and I was very familiar with the layout of the store. So just imagine if I didn't know the layout. It would have taken longer. And then it took me forever to fill out the survey. I too would never take another one of these shops even if they paid me twice as much. Whenever I get emails on these shops with a bonus, I will delete them. This particular shop was a nightmare for me.

If its a shop in a very large home store then it will take that long and the input of the report took 1.5 hours as well.
Your in the store 3 hours and the report is a short book, with numerous
things going wrong......shopper beware!!

Live consciously....
Thanks all. I just went into the system and deleted my app. I am not going to risk this one. Not only does it sound like a very long, involved shop, with lots of potential for disaster--I would have to drive a distance to get there. I thought it might be worth my time but it seems like I would be on a fool's errand. At least that is what I am picking up from the responses I am getting.

Thanks again.

It's a very difficult shop, and in my opinion, not worth it. They have a hard time getting people to do these shops, and the fees have gone up. With good reason.
Is it the client or the company? If the latter, If the former, I might just hang in there--hope they come up with different shops in my area. I don't see any others, but we all know things change.
The incoming fee of 80 has been taken in my area. I've done the shop more than once, and it is very difficult and time consuming. Aside from locating staff, some of the name tags look like driver's licenses and can be a challenge to obtain their names.

The other area I've seen shoppers struggle with is the correct type of item to purchase. This seems to have tripped up people. You have to spend quite a bit of time preparing for this shop, so you ought to plan accordingly. In order to evaluate all departments, it has to be an item which requires the staff person to go and get it. I find this part can sometimes take the longest amount of time.

But the biggest challenge, in my opinion, has been the speed in which the company pays. The payment terms changed over the summer, and the wait time to be paid can be MORE than 90 days from the time you shopped. The fee also includes a required food and beverage purchase. To me the speed of payment is the biggest challenge.

All in all, the shop takes me 1 hour to prep and prepare, 2.5 - 3 hours in store, and 2 hours of inputting. The first time I did it it took me more than 3 hours to type it in. The form is a bit tedious.

Wow, 6 hours just on the that one job is practically a whole day, all for a whopping $50 to $55 that you won't get for over 90 days!
