Second to None

Every time I have to upload a receipt to this company, my upload does not work and I tell them and they let me email my receipt to them. Does anyone else have problems uploading to Second To None?

I've never had a problem, but as I just suggested to another poster about ICCDS, try a different browser, and if you're on a mac and the file reads .jpeg, you can try changing the extension to .jpg.
I think you might be trying to upload a file with a greater size than they require. Ask their help desk if this is so.
I've done a couple shops for them and haven't had any problems.

I actually did a shop today that really and truly turned out to be a "fun shop." My adult daughter was allowed to go with me and both of us left the shop sold on their services - now if I only had the money . . ..

You aren't compressing your file. Turn down your photo resolution to 1 Megapixel or re size the file. Then it will work every time, promise.

(somehow these guys can't even tell you that. Le sigh.)

Aim for under 200 KB in general for all shops, unless high res is required. Any JPG you can see on any computer is a standardized file format and that isn't the problem. Some browsers suck at uploading, especially proprietary Tablets and android browsers. Mozilla/IE are fine.

Great MS Company. Try scanning your doc and save it in a PDF format.

If you are using windows 7, save your scan in GIFF. It always works with about 10 companies.
I too had trouble uploading images.

I also had trouble with Second to None accepting a shop in accordance with their own image guidelines:
9. Circle-back and take 4 or more photos of the menu board (see example below). You DO NOT need to get back in line.
NOTE: If the set-up of the drive-thru lane makes it impossible to circle back to get menu board photos without getting back in line,
drive to the parking lot of the business next door and take photos from that lot.

This to me says, 'don't get take photots in the drive through line.' So I did not. I got out of the car and climbed in the bushes that separated the drive-through from the parking lot of the doughnut shop. I took pictures from about 10 feet away from the menuboard; not from the neighboring business as directed. I took the photos from as close as I could physically get without getting in the drive-through line. Second to None said I should have gotten closer. I could not stand in the drive-through lane because cars were coming. Second to None said there was a shadow from the sun. Yes, it is often dark in the morning while you are waiting for your doughnuts. Second to None rejected the photos because they were taken "too far away." I could have taken a photo of the menuboard with flash if I could have taken them from the drive-through lane.

Also in their email Second states:

"You can take pictures while you are in the drive-thru line or pull around and take them."

So their afterwards words contradict the guidelines and shoppers pay the price.

It's a waste of my time to shop in accordance with their guidelines and then be told the photo quality is more important than where you take the photos. Second chose not to put that information in their guidelines and I pay the price for gas, a dozen doughnuts, a drink, and my time. And what do they do with all the other details I colleced for them?

Second to None cannot be trusted.
I am really sorry that you had a bad time with this. Unfortunatetly if they cannot read the photos they and the client will not accept the shop. Did they offer to pay anything? This is why I rarely do photo shops. Too risky.

Also I would suggest that you not publish that a co is untrustworthy based on one shop. I have been shopping for them for at least 5 years and have had very little problem. They have treated me well.
Thank you Cynb, for describing Second to None as untrustworthy. When a contractor invests time and money in a project and then is not paid because she took photos from the point where the company's instructions said to take the photos instead of from the vantagepoint she thought would be best, then that company is, as you said, "untrustworthy."

No, they paid absolutely nothing. Second to None broke their contract with me. I am legally entitled to be paid for work and expenses because I performed the shop as agreed, according with the company's instructions. However, the cost of enforcing commercial laws on untrustworthy companies exceeds the recompense, as these companies know. That is why they shift the cost of their mistake onto the contractors.

This messageboard, as I understand it, is supposed to inform contractors when deciding which companies they will work with. It helps others when we share our experience and conclusions. I am glad to hear that Second to None treated Cynb well. This information helps other contractors make better decisions.

By the way, I could read the menuboard on the photos. I don't know why Second to None couldn't. The photos were not the best but they weren't that bad. Yes, I made a mistake in trusting Second to None to pay as agreed for work performed in accordance with their guidelines. No, I won't trust them again, not even for the price of a cup of coffee. And all this information didn't cost you anything.
See the other post on this board...there are a lot of other shoppers with rejected shops, including me.

Good2go, I won't trust them again either...
I have never had a problem with StN. They pay on schedule and their bonuses can be very nice (did a $7 shop for $57 once)
I like Second to None. I've been scoulded several times and refused payment. Why? Because I failed to read the instructions! Can't fault them for my errors! I would love to jump up and down and say they are wrong, but I can't. BESIDES, there are other companies that I can jump up and down about who deserve it! LOL!

OK what I meant is that for your own profit as a shopper, do not necessarily cut off a good source of income because you occasionally get a rejected shop. I have had some rejected from them, but if had cut them off, I would have lost hundreds of $ in good shops. However, just giving you my opinion and my advice. I know how annoying it is to get rejected, but you might be doing yourself a disservice. They can always get different shoppers, but you might not be able to get as many new shops. Know what I mean jellybean?
