Market Force's Auto-Assign Shops

While applying to Market Force, there is a section on auto-assign shops. (See quote below.) If I am reading it correctly, auto-assign is different than self-assign, right? Does this mean that MF automatically assigns shops to you without contacting you first to see if you are available?

I am currently on auto-assign but I will be tied up with a special project for the next two weeks so I am thinking that I should change my settings. If MF auto-assigns a shop to you, do you have the option to decline without affecting your account in a negative manner? What do you think?

"The settings below control your participation in our auto-assigning shop process. If you select ‘Yes’ to participate, then shops may be automatically assigned to you based on the selections you make below. These are shops that you have not previously reviewed or personally selected. You will always receive a confirmation email with shop details. If you do not wish to participate in this process, simply select ‘No’. Once you’ve reviewed your changes for accuracy, click on the ‘Save Changes’ button."

P.S. After 1+ years of MS'ing, I have never registered with MF.

I opted out of this feature, but from what I found on their website: some jobs are available to auto-assign, some are not. Once you choose the jobs you are willing to do, they send you an email and tell you you have been assigned that a particular shop with that client. You then can cancel or reschedule as needed.

If you really want all the jobs from one particular client, that may be the way to go, but I prefer to remain in control. I don't know what penalties you might have to pay if you cancel too many auto-assigned shops. It is definitely NOT the same as self-assign.
There's self assign, auto assign, and Samantha.

Auto assign is a selected option, and if you're not in the mood, you opt out. With Samantha, don't reply, if you're not interested.

Shop2LiveinFL ~ I'm confused. You state "I am currently on auto-assign", while further stating "After 1+ years of MS'ing, I have never registered with MF."

I have no clue how a shopper would see such detail without registration, or how MF would have a shopper's email address to send such a message to, if the shopper had never registered with them. Just your lucky day?
I did this on the purple portal. There was a shop that was presented as a not-shop; meaning that if it became available they wanted to know if I would be interested in it. At the time I said yes. Four months later I get it auto assigned to me instead of an initial contact. I wrote them asking them to please ask me if I was still interested if I wanted to do the hsop, and nicely asked them to take me off that list. A coupe of weeksd later I get the same assignement auto assigned again. It seems that they just auto assign jobs wihtout asking permission to do so.

Mystery shopping for MF would be pretty cool beans if not for one small problem. That problem is their shops pay really low. Theres no way you can make a living off MF so what you end up with is an opportunity to have a little fun and make a little pocket cash. If you allow them to auto sign you up for their shops and they give you a bunch of low paying jobs you could end up barely breaking even and miserable. We do this mystery shopping to have a little fun and make a little money and if you get auto-assigned shops that are no fun and not making you any money you are going to be one unhappy camper.
The auto-assign allows them to get a bunch of the FF shops assigned at the lowest possible price. Opt out and wait for the bonused shops. If you're auto-assigned you'll never get the $15 or $20 bonused FF shops when they get desperate at the end of the month.
Ya know auto-assign might not be bad if you could state a minimum fee for the job........but it ain't so.

So no auto-assign for me.
