Giving thanks to Market Force

Two years ago this month, I joined a significant group of shoppers as I was, devoid of the slightest warning, fired by this MSC. I understood that action was their right and took not a sliver of offense toward the company. To my complete surprise, a matter of which I am embarrassed, I began losing weight. To date, I have slowly trimmed 26 lbs., lowered my blood pressure 56 cumulative points and am no longer a borderline diabetic. Had it not been for MFI's termination of our contract, I shudder to imagine the state of both my appearance and health.

Thanks so muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Market Force.

Good for you, Mr. Bob! A couple years ago my daughter decided she wanted to get healthy and lose weight (I think she was up around 250 lbs. and 5'6"winking smiley. She seriously began to watch her calories and kind of food intake as well as exercise. Today I am so proud of her as she is down to 135 lbs. Now she's into thrift shopping and becoming quite the fashionista!
I wanted to come here and echo your sentiments bob, except I'm thankful that I was never let go and that they called me yesterday to offer a $100 bonus on a very easy shop about 2 blocks from my home. I don't do much work for them but the nice thing about being an IC is we get to pick and choose who we work for and what assignments we take. I guess nobody ever told that you didn't have to take those FF shops let alone eat the entire meal. On a related note, a cousin of mine recently kicked a nasty cocaine habit by getting locked up in prison, I've never been more proud.

I split my meal 70% of the time. I just got back from a casual burger shop where you get a lot of fries. Wifey and I split the burger, ate 2/3 of the fries, and brought the rest home for DD.

I used to have no self control when eating out. Shopping has changed that. I think part of it is going from a scarcity to an abundance mindset. I don't have to eat like this is my last chance!

I did a route of Jack in the Box shops for another MSC a couple months ago. I had six, plus the casual burger shop described above. I had a few bites at each locale. A lot of tacos and fries were given to the poor that day!

Me too! "Scarcity to abundance" describes it perfectly.

Eating out ~ even at FF or casual places ~ used to be such a rare event for me that I would pig out when I did get the chance. We could rarely afford such a 'luxury'. Now that I get to go so often, it's like "Good God ~ ANOTHER burger/pizza/sundae/more fries?! Ugh."

That is a good thing.

I got a call to do an audit for MF. The location is literally a 15 minute walk from home [if I chose to walk]. I agreed to the $25 fee when it was offered. The overseas scheduler kept talking, and by time the call was finished, the fee was up to $50.

BOB'S reply:

That's the embarrassing side of this situation. To explain, I'll detail the past 7 1/2 yrs.

Prior to June of 2005, I had always competed as a 110 kg. (242 1/2 lbs.) powerlifter, but that month I was slightly more than a pound overweight at a meet. I was somewhat concerned, but did not have any idea that my having begun to accept dining assignments was at the root of the problem. In Oct. of the same year, I was 11 lbs. over and resigned myself to becoming a 125 kg. (275 lb.) lifter. I ultimately peaked at 261 lbs. until MFI fired me and I began shedding the weight. It was only then I realized the source of my difficulty and felt, which I still do, very very foolish not to have sensed, during 1/2 decade, the solution was to return to eating at home.

It certainly was not only the shops for Market Force, but their action cleared the muddy waters and opened my ignorant eyes. You state I was not required to eat all of the FF meal, which is correct. Unfortunately, as I've typed, it was ignorance on my end in not realizing the source of my problem.

It is for the above reasons I sincerely give thanks to the MSC this season of Thanksgiving Day.

My dogs simply love when I shop the casual burger shop with the extra scoup of fries. The burgers are big enough, they can make two meals, but left over cold fries just don't heat up well. They have become a favorite because the fries are fresh cut... no preservatives.
I'm taking a break from the Casual Burger shops for a few months, two a month at each of the two locations I've started feeling like they suspect when I come in. If/when I start doing them again, I'll probably do something like doing them the same shift each time, like always a Sunday night or Saturday Afternoon so it looks like part of a routine. Never thought about taking one of the kids with me and splitting the burger with them. I tend to just do the smaller size bacon cheeseburger, comes out 1 cent over reimbursement thanks to sales tax, but I may have to consider that, just take the end of the year off, and start off next year that way... Hmmm...
ShopperBob - Thanks for your transparency! You know your weakness, so you stay away from temptation. What a concept! Would that more folks would do the same.

There's a reason I don't take the "Adult" retail shops. Well two reasons: my own weakness and my desire to not fear my wife holding sharp objects.

@Ms.Baker: my dogs love it when I visit the casual burger shop, too! As a matter of fact, my oldest aussie will start grumbling and chuffing impatiently if it's been a while since I've brought home a bonanza of leftover fries. She will get grumpy and try to herd me outta the house each day in hopes that I come home with a greasy bag. If I don't return with one, I sure hear about it! smiling smiley
