SCAM? Your Profile - Albatross Mystery Shopper

I copied and pasted the e-mail below. I can't tell if this is a scam or not. I think I did start an application for this MSC but due to some PITA questions, I closed the application before completing it. Any thoughts?

If you think it might be legitimate, google their phone number from the email, see if it comes back to the company they say they are. If they match, CALL them and see if they really sent the email.

Or if you don't think you're interested anyway, you can delete and ignore.

Another thing I do if I get what seems to be an illegitimate email from a legitimate company is forward it to spoof@theircompany.com and see if they say it is from them.

I just went through this today with a funny email. Ended up sending it to spoof@ and am waiting for an answer. Mine was from LinkedIn, and I've gotten fake messages purporting to be from them before.

from linkedin really? I delete everything from linkedin because I don't want a "job"..the updates alone from my 100+ connections on linkedin are ridiculous.....

talk about funny emails from 4 @yahoo.com accounts I have gotten messages from people that were robbed at gunpoint in a foreign country and needed some money wired to them.....really annoying the fouth time around. and when it is an immediate family member? more than once....

I got the exact same email from "Rosa" and went through the same thought process re:possible application. I haven't had a chance to investigate, but was planning on matching names/numbers and e-mailing directly through their site or calling directly to the number on their site to confirm. If you get to it before me, please let us know smiling smiley If I get to it first, I will report my experience here - probably Monday.
I received this as well....it seemed legit to me, but haven't heard anything back from them.

Live consciously....
I have worked with that company but I never received that email. Usually a better idea to go to the company website directly than replying to a unsolicited email.
I did work for them and they were the quickest pay. I did not have any problems with them. They were not extra with te survey questions either and they paid well.

Gloria, you only have one post and your language is somewhat "Scammerish"....sad smiley
Interesting word "Scammerish". I guess it means to scam someone. You should let Webster know about it so that he can add it. LOL.
I did two jobsa for them and got paid quickly. Here is a link to email if needed. They are in Asia so maybe that's why the extra numbers.

inquiry@albatrossasia.com

albatrossglobal@albatross.fr

This came from the emails with the posted jobs. They use the shop metric systems.
I've done several jobs for them the phone number is correct, but I have never heard of that person. They have always called me back or answered emails in less than 24hrs. They pay fast and are really nice to deal with.

Huh? Ditto on only one post. .
thank You. I googled it but wasn't sure if I was picking up a legitimate or fake link.
Yes Albatross is a legit company with a US office in NY, HQ in Asia.

Back in 12/13 I was completely new to MS and my first experience was with Albatross (never shopped for anyone else).

Initially I was frustrated with the requirements of the shops in comparison to the pay but have stuck with it and my experience has gotten a lot better.

As a result, I am replacing my original post from January with new info in case it's helpful to those new to MS and/or to Albatross.

-Pay is typically within 30 days (one assignment took over 2 months to pay, most are 20-30 days)
-You may receive a gift from the client. I got one several months after my shop and it made my day (initially I didn't think this was true).
-Some jobs provide a budget where you buy an item and keep it

I still think there is quite a bit of work involved in the assignments, and the database is slow when entering survey results. (again - nothing else to compare it to). The good thing is that you can save your entries and go back to them).

Also the team in NY is very nice to work with, and I think that is the main reason I keep doing these.

Another perfect example of: "to each its own".

I like their shops and the form they use. Their shops are usually done by individuals who do it for fun or as a mental exercise. They are not the types of shops for people who look at MS as a significant stream of income. There are many more profitable shops out there.
I fly a lot to different destinations around the world and find their airport shops to be a fun way to kill layover time and ultimately a way to get some tax deductions.
30 days for pay is generally considered in the fast to average range. There are many companies out there that are more than twice that.

I work for several companies that have a 90-day turnaround time. They are usually the high-end hotels and fine dining with extensive reports but there is one company that does movie theaters that takes just as long. But I am fully aware of the terms and it is my choice to accept these terms or not.

I've worked with them about a year ago - I moved and unfortunately the only shops they have are 50 miles away and I don't really travel to do shops since I work full time also.

Anyway, when I was was working with them, I did about 5 shops. I did one of their luxury brand watch shops and about 45 days (I think) after the shop was accepted I received a FedEx from them. It contained a keychain from the designer brand. I personally thought that it was ugly and would never use it so I listed it on Ebay and sold it for $50. I think the shop fee was about $40 so it was one of the most lucrative shops that I have ever done.

Pay was quick - I averaged 13 days. I would gladly shop with them again, but don't expect that I will unless I decide to travel for them since the brands that they do are not ever (probably anyway) open stores where I live.
