Yes, katrina04. Did you have a question about them?

Use the Search function for feedback on Second to None. I have enjoyed a good relationship with them. Clear instruction, straight-forward reports, on-time payment. The downside, in my book, their fees are a bit low for what is required, and in comparison to other MSPs.
I agree with Mert on everything except one thing - the reports. I find them to be tediously redundant and repetitive. I have never seen reports filled with so many checkboxes for n/a. Can't a simple yes or no cover the subject sufficiently without asking the question again in a different way which then requires yet another n/a?

Fees for insurance and bank shops here have been getting bonused early and often for the last several months. Anywhere from $5 to $15 and up.

shopgal: I agree about the time consuming n/a thing. However if you are talking about the no show medicare shops, I think they want to make it as time consuming as if it was a show so that shoppers will not just not go and fake it. I will gladly do all the n/as for $30!
The previous company had a report that would collapse the entire section after clicking N/A in the header. Needless to say, the report took about a third the time. It is probably STN's report format that has those fifteen minute jobs hitting $30 pluswinking smiley

$30 was not enough for one of the reports I did for STN recently. I got caught in the loop from hell. "Question 14a cannot be NO if Question 47c is N/A". Then I'd go back and change the answer, and a whole new set would come up. "Question 14a cannot be YES if Question 3b is YES. Question 3b cannot be NO if Question 59c is N/A". I went around and around for 45 minutes with that awful thing.

The first thing I do is copy my NA so I can just paste it into all those other boxes. It's ridiculous.

Oh yes I hate that too - sometimes by the time I am done I am not even sure what answers I clicked to get it to STOP!

I feel like sometimes what I originally put in is correct whether they want to hear that or not.

Good point. I've only had that happen a couple of times and it is always on a hinky shop with unusual happenings or an employee that does a poor job. When one or the other happens, the available answers just don't fit.

Yes, but depending on the client and report, sometimes it's NA and sometimes in N/A. It must be just so, or it won't pass validation and there will be much red to clear. Truly ridiculous.
I thought my head was gonna explode while I worked on that nasty report. For the first time ever in my mystery shopping career, I actually ended up calling for help from an MSC. And guess what? The rep there couldn't figure it out, either. After 20 fruitless minutes on the phone, I was ensnared in a worse loop before. I finally signed off with her and ended up doing what Traveliz had mentioned...clicking away without rhyme or reason praying it would just stop.

Now tell me, what is the point in creating such a report?

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I end up having to change it to a wrong answer just to get out of the loop.

I have signed up with them but I still have not found a shop close enough to justify the pay. The do have a wide variety of clients but the highest bonus I have seen was one dollar and the shop fee only pays seven dollars.
I would encourage you to sign up with them and see what the shops are going for in your neck of the woods.
shopgal: really like the Peter Jennings quote. And if he had a problem with objectivity, I am sure that we will.
Make sure you spend 20 minutes at a booth visit. Does not matter if you are done talking....keep the rep talking. 19 minutes no pay. Frustrates me too if a real customer comes up...you must stay the 20 minutes... Awkward.

Thanks, cynb. I thought he pretty much summed up my attitude when it comes to reporting on my mystery shopping experiences. After all, every one of us perceives the world in our own unique way. So who's to judge what is objective or not?

I think it would be fun to see more forum posters come up with a signature line that mirrors their own mystery shopping philosophy.

shop gal: I am not sure how many people know who Peter Jennings was, but a fantastic journalist. I will think of a signature philosophy. NOT sure how to do it. Let me know.
To add a signature line, go up to top left area of page and click on "Mystery Shop Forum". That will bring you to the page that lists the different sections. Near the top right in a small bar, select "Control Center". Then click on "Edit Signature".

They are a great company, and you can negotiate bonuses with them. I must agree however, just filling out a report for a donut company, that the # 6 cannot be answered yes, because # 42 is na, and therefore # 14 must be na, and #62 must also be na. I also found out that you cannot spell na in non caps or it won't go through, and neither can you write it as N/A or it will clog the system. It must be a neat NA without any slash, and definitely in CAPS, (smile).
Good morning,

So far only one complaint and that is a scheduler. Not sure if he works directly for STN or is contracted. He has an attitude about everything, and types back smart answers when you send a question. I just stop applying when I see his posts/emails. His top job pays $5. and it is always on the board. I believe because where the area is located. You might have to bring some kind of protection just getting out of your car. LOL

STN has always been fair, pays on time. I like them.
I did one mystery shop for them after hurricane Sandy..store was closed..I traveled back and forth to that place over all trip 36 miles..I reported to them immediately and no word from them..I emailed scheduler twice and called her..nothing..just silence...I did few shops after Sandy for two other companies and they already paid or going to pay me my fee.

I'm pretty sure I know the shop of which you speak and if it's the same I only got paid $20 for the frustration.......
The last NA in the office supply shops must be N/A. All the rest are NA, go figure...
