Thanks "CAscotch". I just want to make sure they are reputable. I think we're all a little used to getting paid a little slow, as long as it doesn't go over 75-90 days, then I have a problem.
They may be in the 45 day range. Always on time for me.

I performed my first job for them on November 15th. It has been 44 days as of today's date. From their web site, it looks like the payment has not been fully processed yet. It states, "Exported = payment has been sent to accounting. Expect check 45 days from shop date. 11/27/12."

I performed my 2nd and 3rd jobs for them yesterday. Working on my reports right now. Well, when I am not reading and posting on the forum. ;-)

I completed a single shop for this MSC in 2006, which took over three months and several calls, with broken promises, to be paid.
This was the very first MSC I ever did an assignment for when I got started mystery shopping a few years back. I have never had a situation in getting paid by them, late or otherwise, and I complete assignments for them every month. The schedulers and editors are personable and easy to work with. They can be flexible with report submission deadlines, and are willing to offer bonuses when appropriate. Assignment guidelines are clear and easy to understand.

The schedulers are super nice and answers emails quickly. However, after doing numerous video recording shops for them, I am getting nervous about hidden recording in the state of Florida. No problem with payment or editors.

I have worked for them monthly for 6 years doing their bar audits......great company, pay a bit slow, but always get it.

Live consciously....
A nice company. I've done many shops for them, mostly restaurants, over the past three or four years. They're professional and friendly. While they don't pay as fast as some, they pay faster faster then many MSC's.

Before I sign up for Mercantile, what part of the country do they have shops? I'm in Louisville, Ky.
I'm doing assignments for Mercantile in the Pacific Northwest, but I know there are areas in which they have far more clients.

I did a restaurant for them and was compensated in 2 weeks. smiling smiley

That was my first experience with them, and since that time, I have done 5 more shops..

I will keep you updated...
I like them, but don't care for the recorded shops here in Florida - especially since this is a 2 party consent state.

How can they even request video *or any recording) in a 2-party state? It's not like you can ask permission.
Permission to be recorded is often part of the initial employment contract and then does not need to be reaffirmed on a per case basis. Once the employee grants permission it no longer matters if it is a two-party state. Video shops in two party states will never be competitor shops since a waiver cannot be obtained.

It is yet another reason to make sure you are working with a trusted and trustworthy MSC.

Dear CAscotch,

I am the President of Mercantile Systems Inc and want to make sure that you get paid. Our terms our 45 days from the date of your survey and 80% of our surveys require a receipt or payment will not be made. I ran across this post and want to make sure that you get paid. If you send me your information I will research your payment. Thanks for the feedback and your thoughts-
Lisa - That's good to know. Unless I personally viewed the employment doc to ensure it included such language, I'd still be hesitant to accept any recorded shops in a 2-party state, but that's just my conservative nature.
A reliable MSC is not going to place themselves in harm's way by having shops recorded without proper documentation. Just last year while preparing for a road trip, an MSC was not able to tell some of us if shops in two-party states were going to be video or traditional because they were waiting on the documentation. It did not arrive in time and we conducted the visits as traditional shops. That also means all of us, MSC included, were making less money than we would have with a video shop. Video shopping companies take the laws very seriously.

They are one of my favorite companies to work for. My schedulers are prompt and courteous in returning emails if I have a question about something. I've always been paid right on time and the reports are reasonable for the compensation paid. I just wish they had more shops available in my area.
