Just curious if anyone has ever received the "bonus" of $3.00 that About Face claims to offer if we submit a "perfect report"? I have an English degree a score of 9/10 with every company I work for, yet my reports are just never quite good enough for that $3.00 bonus.
I had a bad experience with one of their schedulers when I asked if I can move a shop over one day, quite rude.
I am debating if it’s even worth staying on with them for $10-$12 shops that are never quite good enough...
Yes, I have received the full $3 on some and partials on others. The whacked out thing was I did a whole series of shops for them. I submitted all reports over two days. Intrinsically there was nothing different between the shops in terms of quality, what was observed etc. Half the shops went to one editor and I received the full bonus on all of those. The other half went to a second editor and most received the $2 bonus with one receiving the $1 bonus. Are we talking arbitrary here?
When I look at their shops I determine whether the base pay makes them worthwhile because I have no control over who edits my shops and therefore no rational expectation that a full and complete shop will indeed be paid the bonus. It means that I do very little work for this company.
I feel the same way. I don't consider the $3 part of the compensation, which also means I do little work for them. I have yet to receive even one bonus which became quite frustrating, especially knowing my background and score with other companies. I guess I received the editor who doesn't give bonuses!
The scheduler I worked with was so very rude because I asked if a one day extension was available. Another source of frustration when a simple "No, I can't extend it due to constraints the client has put on us" would have made the point.
I have never had a problem with a scheduler, but then I don't believe I have ever interacted with one.
While I can understand the attempt to make some pay gradient between shops that take a bunch of effort to clean up and ones that are presented client ready, the method is not one which works as far as I am concerned. And it becomes more absurd when the fee + bonus only approximates a marginally reasonable fee. When you have reasonable expectations (based on other work) to receive the bonus it is truly infuriating not to receive it. Life is too short for the exasperation over a couple of bucks and there are many too many other reasonable companies to work with.
I've had positive dealings with AboutFace. Fair paying shops that I would do without the $3. As Flash says, the bonus is not a given. I've done web shops, restaurant and home shops and received the extra $3 for every shop I've done for them. Occasionally, I'm paid mileage for hard to book shops.

Yes, it indeed points out that each interaction they have with a shopper can end up on a forum making them look like manure. I rarely even look at their website any more because what I saw wasn't worth it without the bonus and the experience of arbitrariness in awarding bonuses made it not worth the potential irritation.
Sure, I've gotten the $3 bonus on about five of six shops The time I didn't get it, I was shown exactly how I didn't follow the instructions and agreed with the evaluation. I have no problem with the reviews and will continue to shop for About Face.
I think the key is to follow the instructions and give full and complete details.

I have only done 3-4 shops for them, and either I never noticed this bonus, or it was not offered here. That said, I have been paid in full and gotten great rating scores. For the motorcycle ones, they go crying here with huge bonuses and pleas for help. Its a world I feel totally uncomfortable within, so I will not even attempt it. It is a "sure to be caught" for me! I have never thought of them as paying quickly, but not as paying slow, either. Maybe the payment times vary with the client?

Even though I'm not comfrotable with motorcycles, we have a classic car, and I can't imagaine purchsing a part (which I think was the last one I saw) would be hard... but I just can't bring myself to shop for them anymore with their pretend bonuses.

Contact the Shopper Ambassador at email@example.com. She can tell you what happened on the report and why you were not eligible for the bonus. Did you not receive feedback when it was edited explaining what was found? The feedback they send explains what was found and the reason for the scores.

I was never told anything as far as why I didn't receive the bonus. But hoenstly for $3 it's not worth my time.
I took a look at the emails I've recevied from AF and every one of them says something like "fast and easy", "easy shop", "fast and furious", "super easy" when in reality they are no different than most of the shops I do for more money than what they offer.
I would go after it if I felt I was owed the $3, but AF and their bonus is all subjective. For some reason they don't believe my report was worth the bonus, and going after it is moot. At least in my opinion.
I didn't fight them on the editors who loved and bonused or didn't like and didn't bonus substantially identical reports. I just decided their base pay wasn't worth it and moved on. It is their loss, after all. I didn't terminate with them but I just don't visit their site often. You never know when there will be a policy change for better (or worse).
Maybe I haven't done enough jobs to see the "better" ones, but the website never tells me there are shops in my area for which I am "not eligible". Right now is typical--one job about 23 miles away for $10 with a $3 possible bonus. A college bookstore during first week of a new term when there will be little parking available on campus and the lines will hang out of the doors. $4 reimbursement for required purchase. Lots of warnings about all the ways you won't be paid/reimbursed at all. Be still my heart.
$30+? I'm moving near you! The AF shops here (NJ) are $12, $13, and $19 and that is taken right from my email. Did I mention they are all "easy", "fast", "quick and exciting", and "super easy"? Simply AMAZING!! LOL
Hmmmm. College bookstores are done by a different MSP here, not AboutFace. Yeah, I see "fast", "urgent, please help", etc. But wouldn't it be great if we could search their site by a radius that we define?
I hear the college bookstore woes. $10, and for me I'm sure a non-existant bonus, to stand in line and assess all aspects of the bookstore from the physical surroundings to textbook inventory, and all aspects of customer service. Where is the easy part of this that they claim?
