Beyond Hello, anyone?

I've never had an issue with a credit card, regardles of the closing date. Only becuase if your payments and credits equal your purchases you are ok. In other words; say I charge $100 sunglasses and $100 in groceries on my closing date, then the next day return the sunglasses. I receive a bill for $200 (it doesn't show the credit) then I pay $100 and they process a credit for $100 so the balance is 0 before the payment due date. There is no finance charge.

So really it's not when you purchase, but as long as your credit is processed before you payment is due (which it always is if you do a return a day or teo or even three later- but I came close with that high-end $1600 shop becuase the credit was issued via paypal after I fed-exed the credit slips for my return) you are fine. This is all assuming you have a credit card without a balance on it of course.

That is true for one of my cards, but not for at least one of the other ones. I just switch cards once closing date approaches. Also works better when reviewing the statement to be able to pair off the debit and the credit.
Sunglass shops are usually bonused where I live. I do them in two malls nearby. One mall has 3 huts, the other has 4. Easy, breezy, decent money.
Mert,
I have only done these for bonuses, and not that frequently, due to small island, repetive staff, needing to return stuff. But for $30, I do 'em. They are easy, and so far, their staff (both MSC and store) have been easy to deal with and easy to shop at/for. I would definitely do again for $30 when I feel I can get away with a purchase at one store and being in the neighborhood to return at another...We do have lots of those stores here, but only a few on my regular travel routes, so I try to space them out, even at $$$$.

That's mucho dinero! I might try one shop for them with that kind of expenditure since I have never had any problems with getting paid from them. I would be concerned about losing the receipt (I never have before but it's Murphys law) or that my refund would be given in store credit or some other stupid senario. I would be scared to until I got that $800 back in my hands. Gotta ask yourself 'Is it worth the stress?'
I understand and I would not ever take on the kind of shop that SusanMB did. I don't mind much a shop where I am purchasing an expensive item on my credit card and returning in 24-48 hours or less for credit back to my card. But as soon as you are talking about handing over the goods to someone else or handing over a store credit slip to someone else or even just getting a store credit, that is not for me! Too many slips 'tween the cup and the lip possible. If they need me to do that stuff, they can send the $ up front and figure out what to do with the store credit themselves. This business is based on mutual trust and that is more trust than I care to extend.
It's funny, the scheduler even said that they knew they were asking for a lot of trust on this one. I can't fault them for anything that went wrong, they did exactly as they said they would and kept in contact with me the entire time. The problem was with the store, ans then getting the PayPal payment back in time to make my credit card payment.

It was a hassle and I don't know that I would do it again. I just saw $$$$ and went for it. Those two shops paid for a weeks worth of groceries AND lunches for my husband. That made it seem worth it.
I understand. And in your case you had trust on 3 outfits beyond your control--the company (which seems to have done what they said they would do), the client and the store. In your case, it was the store that was the 'slip 'tween the cup and the lip' in their screw up of getting the store credit to you. And this is my concern. You can have a great relationship with the company and they can do exactly what they say they will do, but even they cannot control the client or the location. I just find it fascinating that neither the client nor the company was willing to trust YOU but rather you were required to trust THEM.
Thought-provoking. Of course it should be a two-way street. The shopper, personally, has most to lose if things don't go according to Hoyle. SusanMB, I don't recall if you you told us what this shop paid, but I do remember thinking that I would do it, due to a positive relationship with BH.
It paid $75 each shop, and I did two of them, for a total of $150.00.

Of course, thanks to the retail store and their problems and inability to deliver in the time frame promised, I didn't have time to transfer the monies to my account from PayPal and had to do daily ATM withdrawls. After a few days I found a no-fee MAC a few miles from my house but still had to pay PayPal withdrawl fees. I also had to pay the credit card fee for a phone transaction because there was no time to schedule it on line through my bank, and that particular card did away with on-line payments. So the bottom line is that I made $150 but lost $27 in fees, which was not addressed by the MSP or anyone else. I had to take the hit, which was a bit upsetting, but I was just so done with that shop at that point, and I had too many other things to focus my energies on at that time so I put it to bed.
Yes, there definitely are things that we just have to do to get it over with. Certainly the payment issue was not negligence of the MSP nor of you nor of the client. That responsibility was directly that of the location shopped. As a Monday Morning Quarterback kind of comment, it may have cost you less in the long run to do a partial payment on the CC and pay the interest for the few days needed to transfer the funds on over to your bank.
Heck, in the heat of battle I probably would have done exactly the same thing because the knee jerk reaction of paying off a card in full every month is so strong. In 'the good old days' before ACH transfers you could buy a couple of days occasionally by sending in a check you 'forgot' to sign smiling smiley.

yes bad deal with this company. They had a retail shop purchase and return, the instructions were that it was only 20 mins needed in store purchase item of at least $20.00, but you could not do a return before 2 hours. Which means that the
shop paid $11.00, and since I had to spend 20 mins in the store, I also had to either leave the mall and come back or hang out there for 2 more hours to return
the purchase. In the long run I hung out for the 2hours, to save on gas leaving and coming back and returning and leaving again. After I had sent in the report,by the way was a lengthy one, the next day they said the report was
not acceptable and I wouldnt be paid for it. Even had I been paid the $11.00 for the shop, 2 hours and 20mins. plus gas, plus the time to do the report, I would have ended up paying them to do this shop. which is basically what I did anyway. They got a freebie. There was nothing wrong with my report. The only thing they could come up with was that I commented on the good deal the store was running with the percentage off on their sales going on.
Oh did I mention on alot of the purchase and return shops, the store already has a policy of no refunds, only issued in store credit, with a receipt?
I have not had any issues with the shops I have done for them. I rather like the company.

So far, so good with BH and me. Some 9s I've received from them irk me, but that's a personal pride issue.

My issue was more with the store and their computer problems than BH.

As far as a "purchase and return" shop; I always make sure the locale is close enough so that I can go back when I feel like it, or I have other shopping to do at the mall, or the pay is worth it. If a store has a credit only policy, BH will reimburse you the credit once you send it to them.

Did you ask anyone why your report wasn't acceptable, and ask for the opportunity to re-write it?
Beyond Hello is an excellent company to work for. I suggest you call the scheduler and just confirm verbally.
Wish we had some exclusive high end shops here (N Al) not that
I could shop at them personally but I would love to mystery shop
them. mostly all I get here are merchandising shops that pay $8 to $13 .ouch, or retail shops pay about the same.
Does anybody work for Hershey s?
I have always hated shopping so if I really liked it I'd buy it, usually when seriously marked down and sometimes not. I prorated the cost such as a $1250 handbag reduced several times finally costing less than $350. I used it 10 winters so @ $35 per year it was a great purchase !

Now I divide the cost by the amount of shops I need to do to pay for that wonderful item and find that I can indeed live without it.

A word to the wise: always have a fresh manicure when shopping high end stores.
I would call Beyond Hello to insure it's not from a scammer using their name. The scammers are using the names of the legitimate MSPs.
