Is this place safe to give your info to? I read they are like an in between company. A place to find shops. You have to give them your SSN to join, how do I know they are giving it secure MSCs?

...if you don't input your SSN, you most likely won't get paid. I know the federal limit is $600 and below that it's not needed, but most places (at least that I've signed up with) that use the Sassie system won't let you apply for shops without entering it.

The $600 applies to companies and is the threshold where they have to send the shopper a 1099. The shopper is still responsible for taxes on all income, regardless of getting the 1099. Many companies are verifying SSNs to establish the potential shopper is eligible to work in the U.S.

Some of them will take an EIN number instead of a SSN. You can get an EIN in about ten minutes on irs.gov.

Sassie is a software system used by some MSCs. Other systems are Shopmetrics and Prophet.
