ath Power - a wonderful company

Recently, I had some issues with ath Power, and they had garnished my wages. It was not a big amount, but I had to fight it. I believe when I put in my best effort, I should be paid my legitimately earned wages. I was able to work with my scheduler, and was able to resolve the issue in my favor. My scheduler was am absolute delight to work with. She was cooperative and efficient.

I had a similar issue with BestMark, and unfortunately I had to fire them. I very highly recommend ath Power to work with.

I have completed over 50 shops for ath power and never had a problem. I have found them an easy company to work for.
Anakin, no MSC can garnish your wages for that would mean you are an employee of the MSC, and that doesn't happen with mystery shoppers. Thee was a question about whether you fulfilled the terms of your contract for the shop and, until that was clarified, your payment was withheld.

I have a question for you. They have primarily bank shops in my area. If you have 50 shops does that mean you have 50 different accounts or you shop 25 locations twice or.....?

I tried on of their shops back in 2007-08 and lost my shorts. I opened an account for one of their shops and it was out of town. This was a Major mistake. The service charge ate the account before I realized there was a charge. They closed the account- I had major home damage during the time it occured and did not have all my statements ( damaged). Well, long story short they closed my account, and it was all bad new after that. With that said I do not do those kind of shops anymore. I guess if I were already a Powerball lottery winner I would have had a couple mil in the savings account and I would have been saved. It takes awhile for that stuff to come off your credit report. Major major error on my part.
All of the shops that I have done are for non account holders. I never open an account and they have multiple branches in my area.
I opened an account on Friday and jumped at the chance. I moved to this area 4 1/2 yrs ago and had never moved my accounts from my previous bank (rural, only-has-a-couple-of-branches bank). I was researching to see which bank had the best new account incentives, when I saw the shop come open. A win-win!

I got what I consider a decent amount from the MSC, and will receive $150 from the bank - $75 for a deposit over $300 (my paycheck from work will be direct deposited), and $75 for setting up and using the online bill pay during the first 45 days the account is open.

There are many branches in my area, including one in my closest grocery store, so I'm happy smiling smiley
Well Ido not know about wonderful; they take too long to pay. But decent folks. Hey anyone doing their <cell phone> paired shops? need to provide your Fico score. Does that mean you have to go thru the sign up process? Details are sketchy. I am totally shocked as this has NEVER happened before !!!

Moderator note: Please remember to not name the client since the MSC is right in the subject line. Thanks!
Maybe they "mean" they marked their shop invalid...??? I love ATH....but I ONLY do bank shops for them. Wish they paid faster though.

I think they're comparing credit offerings for folks with less-than-perfect credit. They want you to get your credit score before performing the shop because your credit score needs to be relatively low to qualify. You wouldn't actually sign up for service, but you would begin the application process at each company, most likely undergoing a credit check in the process. Heads up: one of those mobile phone companies runs a "hard" credit inquiry which will show up on your credit report for the next two years.

ATH is a good company to do shops for. They pay a little slowly but at least they never cheat you or withold payments without a very good reason. (shopper messed up badly) I would recommend them as a good place to apply.
I am not sure what is meant b y these. I have done 57 shops for them: all banks. I have gotten paid for every one. They do not provide feedback, which is fine with me. The only time you will get anything back from them is if QC has a question, which has happened once or twice with me. Their pay is a little less than other MSC's but it is reasonable for the amount of work. The bank shops that I have done typically only take 15-20 minutes and the report is very simple. It is mostly yes/no questions with some comment boxes, but they do not expect a dissertation for the comments, so it is not onerous.
Good Day Fellow Sleuths:
I have found that parsley and oregano are an excellent "garnish" when added to my Italian pasta sauce. And a basil sprig of course.
However if you gentle folk mean GARNISHEE, well that's a not such a nice thing companies do when they withold your salaries. (not celery).

That's not true. The IRS can garnish wages from an MSC.
frodosdojo, did you happen to READ what you quoted? James didn't say "nobody" can garnish wages, he said no MSC can garnish your wages. Reason being, there are no "wages" to garnish.

Maybe read what was said before you decide to argue with it. The IRS can garnish (or "garnishee," either term appears to be correct these days) anything it wants. But we weren't talking about the IRS, we were talking about the MSC who owed the shopper money -- as a contractor, not as an employee.

Furthermore, a garnishment requires a court order, further proof that the MSC didn't garnish anything because there is no mention of a lawsuit.

Here I go day dreaming again but can anyone please tell me who does the shops for Cara foods in Canada?
They own such nice fare as Swiss Chalet, Milestone's and Montanas.
Be kind in your responses.
Thank you.
What a day for a day dream...........

Yes, I READ it. Your tone is so very nasty, This is why I rarely come to this forum. So many of you perfect people are ready to jump on and attack posters for every little detail. FYI, I happen to know someone who received a notice from the MSC that the their payments from said MSC would be garnished due to an IRS letter and there was NO LAWSUIT. Maybe you don't know everything.
frodosdojo Wow I would love to see that letter. I knew the IRS could garnish but not independent contracting. If the person doesn't mind and could black out their personal info it would be interesting to see what the IRS had to say.
I agree ATH is a WONDERFUL company BUT 2 months is far too long to wait for our payments. This weekend they're offer 2 EASY bank shops @ $64 each. But they are 30 and 40 miles away. I would do them if other companies had shops near them for today or tomorrow or if they payment would not be received by me until Sep. . . . just my 2 cents worth grinning smiley!
Frodo, I agree you are correct that the IRS can take money we have coming from the MSCs. It's not wages, but it is an asset. Since it is not wages, it would not be in the sense they would "garnish" your wages and take X dollars out of each regular employee paycheck. However, it's an asset and in my opinion they have some way to take it if they want it.

It is true you misunderstood James Bond's post about an MSC garnishing wages. I have often misunderstood posts myself when reading through them quickly. I regret that you received an inappropriate response. Please don't let negative and argumentative posts keep you from participating. I welcome you and I welcome your posts.

Took the words right out of my mouth, MDavisnowell. I see the forum as a place to come share information and friendship. It's disheartening when I see posts that seem at odds with that concept.
I have shopped two <cell phone> shops with another company. You do not have to have a credit check with this company. I would never have a credit check with any company.

Ath is a good company, but don't pay enough for some of their shops like this.
