MDT, was it your contract that was terminated or have you terminated with them in solidarity with your friends?

Either way, the forum was created by Jacob. At his request clients are not connected to MSCs anywhere on the forum, including private messages. If you want to post it all on your FB page or via Twitter or go on local TV, that is up to you. Meanwhile please respect Jacob and everything he does for us.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Hi LisaSTL, no, I didn't have an account with MF. As I said, my friends did. They were both terminated within the last two weeks. They don't have an account on the forum so I was asking on their behalf. Seems I raised your fur. Sorry. I will respect all that Jacob does for "us."

That statement is nothing but blabber-jibberish! The main reason that MarketForce is a leader in the MSC industry is they have a client(or 2) who has more franchises then almost any other company in the world. Isn't it amazing that this woman who has told countless dozens if not hundreds of posters in this forum of how sacred the ICA is and then she sits here and libels the biggest MSC there is. Where in the ICA agreement does it say its ok to make statements about the MSC that are not true and are unfounded lies?

libel 1) n. to publish in print (including pictures), writing or broadcast through radio, television or film, an untruth about another which will do harm to that person or his/her reputation, by tending to bring the target into ridicule, hatred, scorn or contempt of others. Libel is the written or broadcast form of defamation, distinguished from slander which is oral defamation. It is a tort (civil wrong) making the person or entity (like a newspaper, magazine or political organization) open to a lawsuit for damages by the person who can prove the statement about him/her was a lie. Publication need only be to one person, but it must be a statement which claims to be fact, and is not clearly identified as an opinion. While it is sometimes said that the person making the libelous statement must have been intentional and malicious, actually it need only be obvious that the statement would do harm and is untrue. Proof of malice, however, does allow a party defamed to sue for "general damages" for damage to reputation, while an inadvertent libel limits the damages to actual harm (such as loss of business) called "special damages." "Libel per se" involves statements so vicious that malice is assumed and does not require a proof of intent to get an award of general damages. Libel against the reputation of a person who has died will allow surviving members of the family to bring an action for damages. Most states provide for a party defamed by a periodical to demand a published retraction. If the correction is made, then there is no right to file a lawsuit. Governmental bodies are supposedly immune for actions for libel on the basis that there could be no intent by a non-personal entity, and further, public records are exempt from claims of libel. However, there is at least one known case in which there was a financial settlement as well as a published correction when a state government newsletter incorrectly stated that a dentist had been disciplined for illegal conduct. The rules covering libel against a "public figure" (particularly a political or governmental person) are special, based on U. S. Supreme Court decisions. The key is that to uphold the right to express opinions or fair comment on public figures, the libel must be malicious to constitute grounds for a lawsuit for damages. Minor errors in reporting are not libel, such as saying Mrs. Jones was 55 when she was only 48, or getting an address or title incorrect. 2) v. to broadcast or publish a written defamatory statement

Thats because they dont know what you are doing to them in here yet. Tell them who you are and you will be fired quickly.

That's a good question, because MF is apparently releasing the shopper from the ICA that the shopper signed, which does include the confidentiality statement. Of course, for purposes of participating on this forum, whether or not the shopper is bound by confidentiality is irrelevant because the guidelines of our forum prohibit naming the clients of MSCs. So, no, shoppers who have been terminated by MF would not be free to mention clients and MF in the same message or on the same thread on this forum.
Take a look at Marketforce's Facebook page. Multiple and conspicuous advertisement for shops at the company's clients, including its newest client--clearly named-- appears on the landing page. So Marketforce is naming its clients publicly on their Facebook page--and having shoppers sign an ICA not to do the same.

Talking about blabber jibberish.....FREELANCEREPORTER/Txmedia/Cheryljane sometimes, well all the time, you are ridiculous.

Motherdaughterteam...just because MF names their clients publicly doesn't mean you can. Jacob has asked us not to as a part of our usage of this forum, so we respect that. The client is MF's to name, not ours. It is difficult to understand and a pain the behind sometimes...but that is how the ball bounces and the ICA we signed, no one else.
The only reason I like MF at all is that they are carrying on the legacy of Shop N Chek. Their exit from the MS business as a company doesn't matter to me, in fact judging by what I read here it might actually benefit the MS business as a whole. However, if they sell the MS business the way they sold their merchandising business to SPAR I would like to see the old Shop N Chek name reinstated, especially if new owners can live up to the old Shop N Chek's legacy.

Interesting. I was going to refer my sister because they have a high paying shop I think she'd like, but I won't now.
So, two people who know each other, but are not related, and they somehow came up on MF radar? First off, how would MF know who you know, and if not shopping together, doing the same shops, or such, why would they care? Seems, they know mystery shoppers are a dime a dozen, so very disposable. Sad really.
Keep in mind, since the OP says she is not registered with MF, and she is posting about a situation that involves two of her friends in separate locations, we are getting the information second or third hand, and we may not be hearing the whole story. The OP may not be hearing the whole story. She is reporting to us a situation in which she has said she is not involved. I don't think I know enough to express an opinion on this one.

Might I suggest you look a little closer then because something smells rotten in Denmark here. There are at least 3 or 4 red flags as big as the ones in front of Perkins. This persons nic is MotherDaughterTeam implying that maybe she and her daughter are mystery shoppers that work together as a team. Then we have her complaining about 2 friends she knows who got fired by MarketForce possibly for working together. Im not as stupid as I look so lets be honest here and at least admit it was her and her daughter that got fired. Oh but wait shes not even signed up with MarketForce so I must be out in left field on this. Maybe old FreelanceReporter has filed one too many 20 page mystery shopping reports and his brain is fried. Ok then well lets ponder what are the odds of a mystery shopper not even signed being up with the biggest MSC who just happens to have 2 friends who work for that MSC who just happened to get fired by that MSC. And what are the odds of that mystery shopper whos not signed up with the biggest MSC going to a forum on the internet and starting 2 or 3 attack threads on a mystery shopping forum. Yup I am now dummer then a 1rst grader from thinking too much on this. Seriously I would of made a good lawyer but instead I am a mystery shopper. Such a waste of talent!

What are the odds that the poster has referred friends and relatives in different locals to mystery shopping and the group compares notes frequently and that only one has signed up for the forum and does research here at times in an effort to assist the others?
Free (I feel I know you well enough to call you by your first name), as I said before, sometimes I agree with the essence of your posts, but, hey man, ya gotta lay off the moonshine.

I've seen where you've offered constructive advice, but when you launch into the rambling posts, like today and yesterday, it just, er, undermines your credibility.

Oh, and yea, and please put the sledge hammer away.

(heart)

P.S.
I sincerely believe in you, my friend. I think you're very, very smart, but need to learn how to voice your opinion in a more constructive way.

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.

You are just not qualified to make much of a judgement on MarketForce. Take the fact that you don't work for them and then add it to the advice you get from the MarketForce bashers in this forum and you got nothing. If you wanted to give advice to your friends on MarketForce wouldn't you just sign up with them yourself? Its free and takes just a few minutes. That sure was mean of MarketForce to pay for my friends and my buffet lunches today at the pizza place wasn't it. It was tough having to eat that tasty fried chicken breast and my specially ordered hamburger, mushroom and jalapeno pizza but I made it thru it. Of course no way that 12 dollars they paid me on top is going to pay for my down payment on my new 2013 Tahoe. Your right getting fired from MarketForce would be a real stinker as Ive almost come to see that free pizza over the past 3 years as a some kind of birthright or something.
Freelancer,
Is it possible from your responses that you work for MF? How would we know? I could read alot in your postings and accuse you of the same! I wonder?
I agree, what are the odds.

I also agree with stilllearning. FREELANCE, even when I agree with the basic idea of what you are saying, the way you say it offends others and undermines your credibility.

MotherDaughterTeam, it's lovely of you to be the designated "researcher" for your team of friends and relatives, but at this point I don't think you are "researching" MF on the forum. I think your current MF posts are revenge-posts. I see way too much anger here from you if you are just expressing a situation that happened to others and you were not involved.

I think it's time to move on. Posting of third party situations is not really helpful to others.

Do yourself and your friends and relatives a favor: tell them "It is what it is." Encourage them to move on.

Thats what I'm saying here if it makes you feel better to say it that way thats fine. "Designated Researcher" does have kind of a nice ring to it I must admit!
I thought this was really helpful.... not that I have made any money with MF but I certainly won't be telling anyone to start with them. Especially if they do IP linking which really isn't fair... ISPs change IP addresses all that time.

After reading all of this I'm glad I never bothered to complete my registration with them. I don't remember what...but something annoyed me at the time. Mystery Shopping has been fun for me and I am registered with more than 100 great MSC's. There is a lot out there for good shoppers and there is life beyond Market Force. You do not need this type of stress. So go forward, have fun and succeed!!
They do lose clients from time to time.

One of the big mid-atlantic grocery chains is now shopped by Caliber. I much, much, much preferred the way MF did those shops.

One cell-phone company switched to another MSC. Base pay went up $1 but the report is way nastier.

I'm sure there are others but those leap to mind immediately.
I too expect to hear or figure out from them at any time that I am no longer needed. In the meantime I do the shops I like so I am not complaining at all.
But I also have dreamed, and still do, about asking my husband to sign up at another msc that is known for letting shoppers go for no known reason. They have one of my favorite jobs of all time. But I am erring on the side of caution and not doing that. Although my husband and I are closer than the op's 2 friends so this might not compare I still think of it as subterfuge so I have not suggested it to my hubby.
I am not saying this in defense of MF actions here but I work in the medical field. We are not even allowed to speak indirectly of a patient's case in any public places around the hospital. Even if we do not mention specifics but only say one or two words there is always the possibility that the stranger in the elevator is the co worker or next door neighbor of whom you speak and "knows someone" who just had a cardiac arrest, etc. They can put two and two together or leap to the conclusion that the case you had last night was their acquaintance. And it goes on from there. In these days of legal actions at the drop of a hat, a company cannot be too careful with their rules and regs. Unfortunate but that is the way it is.

That happened to me with MF. Plus they also have attempted to reject shops and say that they can't say why they are rejecting them because of confidentiality reasons. When I sent them a nasty email one time threatening to have the MSPA revoke their membership if they don't tell me why they rejected a shop, I got an email back saying I would be paid for the shop. That was a shop that was heavily bonused, and I was asked to do it on a last minute notice.
