SHOPPER BEWARE: Service Sleuth lists contradictory instructions then unfairly grades shopper's report

14 states:

Because they feel like they're somehow "sticking it" to the MSC.

BOB'S reply:

I'm certain that's correct for some shoppers, but as for me, it's all about business. In each case where I've terminated a relationship in this profession, it's been about problems receiving my money, a demand of me that was impossible to satisfy or poor communication.

Grif asks:

What I don't understand is why people "deactivate?"

BOB responds:

In that I KNOW the relationship is irreversibly terminated, why not? There isn't any "leaving the door open to return." Neither in my personal nor professional life do I back track.

There are many times where I get, "Sorry, another shopper took this shop"-email.... so yes, it is sometimes hard to get these movie shops...
joitex, I share the opinion of other shoppers who have weathered ups and downs. Take the score, and file away the circumstances. SS is paying you, and, still offering you shops, right? Ratings are not to be dismissed, but are unlike high school and college grades which mattered, sometime to the decimal point, to some. (Not me!)

Unjust, unexplained scores stick in the craw. Early on, I remember getting an 8 on a shop. The editor's comments were to use "standard English". I inferred that meant I used substandard. Or, I got 8s or 9s with comments "Little to no editing required". No guidance, or direction for improvement. I continue to get their shops.

Many shop guidelines have misspells, incorrect grammar, or are contradictory, within themselves, or as they relate to the actual report. Mistakes happen. Seek clarification, as you did, or make an executive decision. I really do understand how the unfairness of the rating got to you. The memory may never go away, but keep it in the back, dark recesses of your mind smiling smiley
Hey, I do like the movie shops, but sometimes I don't feel like it's worth going because of the low pay unless there is some sort of blockbuster my hubby and I are really interested in seeing. It's a nice way to take hubby out for a show when we do want to go.

I don't disagree that you got unfairly docked, but hon, seriously think about not deactivating. Everyone makes mistakes, and apparently the editors and schedulers are passing the buck on this one. In all the years I have shopped with Service Sleuths I have personally always found them to be fair, but it sounds like this time they dropped the ball. I wouldn't hold it against them and expect this to be a regular occurrence, because just about everyone in the forum would agree that they are generally a good company to work for. This is not a normal circumstance and I highly doubt in the future that this would happen again.

Anyway, there might be some sort of spectacular shops in the future you would be missing out on by deactivating. I personally really, really like their holiday ham shops. It's a super easy shop that has a fantastic reimbursement! If I got my feathers ruffled over something like losing a few points from a movie shop, I would just click "delete" for the movie shops, but I would never, never cut off my nose to spite my holiday ham.
I am not yet signed up with service sleuth but plan to!

And "But I would never, never cut off my nose to spite my holiday ham," JASFLALMT wrote. These are very clever words that I'm gonna try to remember in the future. I have often said that on my tombstone it should read "She cut off her nose to spite her face, " but of course there would be no one who cares enough to look at it.
Lucy I am very sorry to hear that you believe no one cares enough to remember you at your grave. I have few friends and no family nearby but I sure hope someone would come visit my grave after I am gone, unless I outlive everyone! I hope that the same goes for you.
I had similar conflicting instructions once, and was told by whomever at the MSC to answer just as OP did, and add "N/A" to the following questions.

Then the report wouldn't accept "N/A" as an answer!

I think it took over 3 hours to submit a report that normally takes 10-20 minutes.

Quite frustrating.

I have not accepted any more of those shops.

cease
From my experience, they're a good company to work for; with the exception of taking forever to pay.

Arguing with fools is like playing chess with a pigeon...
...No matter how good you are, the pigeon will s@^t on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

Not scheduling for ANY company.

I DO think it's worth it if you know there is a must-see movie, that you want to see and the MSC company ends up paying for your movie, your snacks and a fee to "watch" the movie, often-times there is also a BONUS too! smiling smiley

Yes, very worth it.
Bonus? They get taken WAY too quick around here for a bonus, lol.

Yup, it had a $5 bonussmiling smiley I think someone screwed it up or cancelled last minute..
Joitex, I had a similar experience with the same MSC. The first time it happened, I deactivated my account. However,
someone there emailed me and asked what happened? After my explanation, she asked if she could reactivate my account. I said, "If you want to." I had cooled down at that time. I continued doing shops for them again, and then something happened again. Instead of deactivating, I contacted the editor. After some polite discussions, she apologized for her error and even noted it down on my log. I feel much better working for them now and although the pay is one of the slowest, they do pay according to the agreement.

The board has taught me to never deactivate myself, and that's what I have been doing with exception. I just put them on the side and eventually, I would feel better about them later. Not unless there is a very serious issue. I always strive for mutual respect but sometimes, misunderstandings cannot be equated to lack of respect. Just hang in there. There are a lot more MSCs. When you cool down, you might find Service Sleuth to be a lot more tolerable. You may thank yourself for not having burnt any bridge. But I, for one, would not fault you if you deactivate. That's your prerogative and I don't think it's fair for anyone to attack you for your action. You had your reasons. I deactivated my account with one company and I have had no regrets.
