MSPA Certification

I was just wondering who has gotten their MSPA certification and if it was worth it. I've been shopping for a few years now, and am debating on whether or not to take the plunge.

Marcella, just below your post is a link to other discussions about certification. The threads offer arguments both for and against. They are definitely worth the read before making your decision. Whether it is worth or not can also depend on where you are in your mystery shopping career. After several years of shopping you may already have strong relationships with schedulers and a good reputation with many MSCs.

I decided for the $15 or 20 it costs to get it, if it gives you one more shop that you wouldn't have had anyway, it's worth it. If you already have all the shops you can handle, then it may not be worth it. I believe it has been worth it to me. As many MSC's ask if you have it, I don't think they would ask if it didn't matter to them in some way.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I did the silver and feel it was worth it. Am thinking of doing the Gold this winter when we have a "snow" day or in January when things are usually slow anyway. I've been good this year in tracking my income/expenses for my MS work and won't be stuck trying to piece together stuff in Jan for my income taxes so I should have ample time to do the Gold.
I have being thinking of getting it. But after 7 years of mystery shopping, will there be anything to learn. On the other hand, it is a tax deduction.

I do not know that it is learning anything new so much as just having the higher level Gold certification. At any rate I just ordered it so that I can give it a try during any downtime I have.
I did Silver years ago, I felt it was worth it - though I can't find the certificate now, and they can't find me in their system - so the only companies who know I'm Silver Certified are the ones I shopped with back in 2006ish...so, if you do it - save the certificate!

I have been Silver Certified for about 6 years. I believe that it does help with new companies. I also score a 10 on most shops. I am going for the Gold, when I have the time. I do think you should be experienced first. Know how to write the perfect narrative and PDF it. You will be asked to write one. Your schedulers are very important to get you jobs.
I am personally think that gold certificate is waste of money especially I will not get more shops in my area that I have now. so I am ok to be silver
