Second to None Healthcare Shops - NOT PAID

I'm posting to warn others about non-payment by Second to None on their Medicare Advantage shops. This is the first time in 4 years that I have received non-payment by ANY company. I conducted the shops and submitted all as required. However, because I checked the box of an "aging in" shop versus a "shopping for Medicare Adv plan", they are refusing payment. In addition, they did not even communicate that they would not pay on these shops. I had to contact them, which should not be the case. Anyone who attends Medicare Advantage presentations knows that the scenario does not matter. It's an insurance-industry regulated presentation. Payment should not be denied to anyone who attends and submits reports accurately and timely.

I don't think it's that the shop was done incorrectly, it's that one box was checked wrong on the report. That can be fixed in editing unless it is one of those that changes the entire form (not sure if STN has the kind of software that allows that). If the checkbox does not change the form that's a rather asinine reason to not pay on a shop. I'd still give some of the blame to the clumsy shopper, but not to the point where I feel the MSC is justified in not paying.
As much as I like STN they can be a real PITA for any kind of clarification because they don't send emails anymore. The only way to know is to check their website for "Reports Needing Clarification." They have always had that, but it seems they also sent emails in the past.

Dear Troll,

Okay, now I'm getting irritated. I know you've been amusing yourself lately, but, come on, what happened to your work ethic? Where's your creativity? I mean, as FREELANCE, at least, you had style and you knew exactly which buttons to push to rile the crowd. I hate to say it, but you're getting lazy. Ya gotta up your game, man.

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.

OK....I give....how can you tell it was FREELANCE?? I see the one post, but don't know how you can tell the other.

As to the post, if it isn't FREELANCE....what did the instructions say as to which type of application it needed to be, and did you follow up with the shop afterwards to see if there was any clarification needed?
I didn't like STN and don't want to work for them anymore. Their software platform is old and not at all intuitive. One of their male schedulers is bitchy and sounds like a petulant child.

Too many MSC's out there to put up with old software and nasty schedulers.
I find it hard to believe that they will not pay just because the wrong box was checked. There must be more to it. I have worked for STN and always got paid. Although they are not my favorite MSC they are legit and would not screw a shopper out of a payment without cause.
Checking the wrong box on Medicare Advantage shops, goes against guidelines. That is reason for exclusion. These shops were date specific, and could not be reshopped.

I continue to get email requesting clarifications. However, if a shop is rejected, there is no communication. The rejection will appear in your hub under Rejected Shops. I have had rejected shops, and there can be valid answers that will overturn a rejection. With this MSC, the shopper must be vigilant, and watch their shop from assigned to invoiced.

Watch the shop from assignment to invoice? For a little fee? Nope. Let me know if you have questions!
A little fee? I have earned thousands of dollars/year for several years, from this MSC, in my market. I watch my shops.

Good on you, Mert!

I've never had any problems with Second to None ~ other than the fact they no longer offer shops in my area of Northern MI.

Hi bmkaiser,

I had the exact same problem with STN. I checked the wrong box and I didn't get paid. The last time STN rejected one of my shops they sent me an email with an explanation and an address where I was able to write a letter and appeal the decision. I won the appeal.

I wish I saved that address for an appeal, but I didn't. I probably could have overturned STN's rejection.

I avoid these shops with Second to None as I when I submit, there is nothing but problems and I have to go back and delete this line and that line and it becomes something akin to Dante's levels of Hell. No more will I do this shop.
