is it just me or do the people at Bestmark seem to be reading the hottest threads on this forum and then writing an article about it for Facebook?
Maybe this has always been the way they do it and I'm just noticing it now.

Sure looks that way to me. They were not very thorough about the law and audio recording. If an MSC is going to choose to write on the subject they should be thorough and accurate.

Hey, at least they acknowledged the law. I was just hired to do a covertly recorded call by a mid to bigger size MSC. The MSC, client, victim, and shoppers are all located in the same two party state.

Did they supply you with a signed notarized document stating that the mark, I mean "target" is aware they may be recorded while at work?

Heh. It's a competitor shop. There's no way they have consent of the businesses or the cogs who answer the phone.

They are famous for changing reports to positives.... buyer beware for them.
How do I know, I saw my report which was a negative changed to a positive. This was years back but it was positively
mine for the info included and the store area I saw it in was not a part normally seen by the public but had been moved so employees could view it.

I went to look at their facebook page and some of the articles look familiar.

Misanthrope, of course it is a public forum and nobody has tried to copyright their posts. This is not the first time someone has taken information directly from the forum and put it out there as if it was their own information. A couple of years ago a new member was here trying to promote her blog. Lo and behold, virtually everything she claimed as her mystery shopping experiences were stories and advice taken from here. So it is not illegal, but you have to question the ethics.

TECHNICALLY you have to cite your sources whether copyright is expressed or not. The question is whether or not anyone cares enough to complain and pursue it. Was Bestmark actually copying text verbatim from people here?

I look forward to their next Facebook posting- "Is It Legal to Copy Forum Postings Without Proper Citation-- For Shoppers"

I am well aware this is a public forum, however, plagiarism is still plagiarism whether public or not. Credit is due when another person authored a thought.

Yes I took it. I'll take more if they are easy. Maybe I'll get called in as a witness, go double agent on all the lying MSC's and write a book about it.

I have shoped for Bestmark in the past and never any problems. Now, however, it seems most of the shops want you to look for a new car, and I don't do those. I can't seem to find any others as of recent.

They require a bit of narrative, but I like the company as well. The pay that I have received has been fair. With that said, I went and looked at the blog posts, and it does look like the op is on to something. Although my input has probably not been involved , they should give credit where it is due. While this is a public forum, it leaves a bad taste to not acknowledge, even in a broad way, that the ideas are not their own.

I work for them often. They do exit interviews along with all of those car shops. I don't do the car shops.
