My jokes aren't as funny as bgriffin's are. I'm sorry. I said what both people "really" wanted to say.

Hmmmmm. I wonder why. winking smiley

Although... as Lisa pointed out, "Maritz schedulers aren't allowed to use the Internet." (Would they know how? And if they did, would they still be using AOL, browser and all?) So anyway, I doubt they've seen your jokes at their expense. But maybe one of their grandkids told them. smiling smiley

Maritz is my favorite. I constantly am offered bonus shops. None of the shops I do for them are hard. I've only had one scheduler to default on a promised bonus. That is really ok. And they pay twice a month. They are taking on new companies that they are shopping. I have done some shops for one of these new companies while another MSC handled it. The report to do for Maritz is somewhat shorter and less picky than with the other MSC.
I could do enough work with them that I would need to not take work from any other MSC and be quite happy financially.
BTW- Houston has had an actually pleasant cool weather season this time around. It is never REAL cold here but at least we've not been smothered with the horrible humidity that has been so common for the 20 years I've lived here.
BTW- what does the inventor of the internet, old Al Gore offer as an explanation for the cold we've experienced across the US this year?

I think some people here need to learn to grow up and apologize when they've been told they crossed a line.

But apparently only the schedulers at Maritz are mature enough to exercise such manners.

You're all real proud of your little jokes and don't give a rat's ass that you have insulted me and the nice people at Maritz as long as you can all laugh about it afterward.

Somehow I'm reminded of frat parties all of a sudden. Bunch of immature drunks sitting around insulting anyone who's not in their little fraternity.

Wonder why in the world that image suddenly popped into my head?

Thank you, jpgilham, for "getting it" and speaking up on my behalf. Several people here were too busy defending their childish prank and laughing at the old folks to bother to consider why I might care what words are attributed to me. All they care about is getting their jollies at someone else's expense.

Real mature.

Time to build a bigger bridge.

Gee, maybe because you like to insult them publicly? I get called from them all the time.

Cause ===> Effect????

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I think some people here need to hit the toggle button if they don't like what someone has to say. I wasn't offending them and I wasn't offending you. I was merely making a joke based on most of their employees being elderly. I wasn't making fun of elderly people. Those are two totally different things and if you don't have the intelligence level to understand the difference that is not my problem.

You seem to like picking fights with people and you seem to think everything you say is absolute fact and no one else is right. You've done this in multiple threads lately. You're sometimes quite obnoxious about it. You don't see anybody demanding an apology about it. Those that don't like it simply ignore you. I suggest you ignore the people who post things you don't like.

Also, I rarely if ever drink so the drunken frat party doesn't really apply to me.

I've got to go with dspeakes on this one. When I saw your post, I couldn't tell what you had "fixed" and thought it *was* the original quote. And I'm pretty internet savvy (no, really!). So in that sense, I didn't get the joke, so I think it would have been way funnier if you had made is something like, "I think you mean real *old* people".

Whether or not the joke was funny or if the comment was insulting is a separate issue.
Then why, I ask, did you not simply look up an 1" on your screen to read the actual post if you couldn't figure out what I "fixed?"

Because people often aren't going to bother to do that. It would be simple and obvious to assume that you had fixed a minor typo, and that the quote itself was genuine.
There is usually a quick turn around time for shop requests. If you are eligible look for self-assigning shops.
A very large number of people understood it immediately. My guess is a majority of the few people who didn't, thought I actually corrected something an didn't even bother reading the quoted part.

The only thing that might have made the original joke easier to 'get', perhaps; is if bgriffin had bolded, underlined, or italicized the key word. Otherwise, it really wasn't *that* difficult to understand. I mean, seriously... it really wasn't *that* difficult... maybe one or two beats to stop and look, if you'd only been skimming the forum up to that point. Sheesh. The winking emoticon said a lot, too. winking smiley

Oh, so because a "large number" of people thought it was funny, that made it okay?

Let's not lose sight of who "started this" with the childish prank. I made a serious reply to OP's question and that serious reply has been turned into a joke. Thank you very much, bgriffin, and thank you all his buddies who are defending him.

But of course, because I stood up to him, I am the bad guy here. It is my fault for daring to say "that's not funny." I think I had every right to say that. To not say anything would have implied I agreed with the "correction" and thought it funny. Well, I didn't. I thought it appalling and rude. And I didn't make a big deal out of it, I just said I didn't appreciate him putting his words into my mouth. The rest of this BS is because he felt compelled to defend it. There was nothing to defend. What he did was wrong. It was wrong to misquote me and it was wrong to poke fun at Maritz like that.

Mocking an MSC based on the ages of the schedulers -- this is something you people want to defend and applaud? This is something you're proud of?

I find it frankly hilarious that bgriffin doesn't get bonus calls from Maritz. I busted up laughing when I scrolled back through this thread and found that post. I got a call from them just today offering me bonuses for some shops in my area, and bonus money added yesterday to two shops I wanted to do on a route next week. I also got two checks in the mail from them today.

So how's that working out for you, bgriffin, mocking the hand that feeds me? You might want to rethink that strategy.

Time to build a bigger bridge.

This is seriously getting tiresome. Obviously you can't get past the fact that I wasn't insulting them. If a large portion of their employees were French and I said you could talk to a real French person would I be insulting them? I think you hit the nail on the head with this quote:

"I made a serious reply to OP's question and that serious reply has been turned into a joke."

Isn't that what you're REALLY pissed about. That your OMG SO SERIOUS REPLY IS TURNED INTO A JOKE AND I FEEL SOOOOOO VIOLATED!!!!!

And yes, you ARE making a big deal about it. Otherwise you would have simply replied that you felt it was rude and then dropped it. But you are defending yourself as much as I am defending myself.

As for Maritz. Considering their average shop fee is about $10 and my average shop fee for March was just slightly over $50, you can imagine how much of my income is related to them. Less than 1% March. So yeah, the whole hand that feeds me thing. Doesn't really fit.

Three days and 47 posts later and it continues? Isn't it obvious that bgriffin does not agree with you and feels he has nothing to apologize for? His joke was aimed at an entire group of people who do not even visit this forum. Meanwhile your insults have been hurled at anyone and everyone who is "immature" enough to simply disagree with you. At this point it seems you can continue to post and complain for another three days or three months and bgriffin is not going to apologize or you can take the excellent suggestion to just toggle him and be done with it.

How ironic that just in the past week I have thought how great it has been to have such a peaceful time without being visited by our frequent flying trolls. Apparently it has been too peaceful so contributing members have to get their panties in a wad and refuse to let it die. Who would of thought I'd find myself missing SammySly/MobyDick/TruthSeeker?

I gotta tell ya, these stupid argument threads are much more enjoyable when I'm not in them.

That being said, why does everyone have to take everything so seriously? This is mystery shopping. We're not launching missiles at the Soviets. Most people here are anonymous (If you're not, you're doing it wrong). Those sweet gammys at Maritz probably have no idea who any of us are.

Can't we all just calm down and realize that:
1) Not everyone is you.
2) Nobody cares if you're offended.
3) Not everyone thinks you're as funny as you do (I am guilty of this)
4) You are allowed to roll your eyes at jokes that you don't like and click "toggle User Visibility" so you never have to be unjustifiably offended again.
5) You are NOT required to voice your disdain for the things other people say that offend you because SEE #2

Regardless of my opinion on the whole rest of this conversation, I agree with the above.

Can we please just all shake hands, apologize to each other for the misunderstanding and/or agree to disagree and move on?

Not true. I feel like I should probably apologize for the board being cluttered up with this BS.

Hey, let's argue about the average shop fee at Maritz. It's not $10, I'd say it's closer to $15 on the average. But you don't have to take the $10 shops so the average can be much higher, especially if you do a good number of the bundles and the bonused shops. I did eight unbonused shops today that were $17 each which is pretty much the average of my work for them that's not bonused. Now that we got that settled, would anyone like my Granny's recipe for spice cake?
