Can anyone explain Intellishop?

I signed up for Intellishop about a week ago, and the instructions stated that my SSN needed to be checked out. I started getting emails probably the next day about the great shops available, and that I must be rated a "5" to be eligible. I followed the link and got a message saying that I could not be paid for shops until my SSN cleared. I sent Intellishop an email saying that I am not yet eligible, and how do I find my rating but I'm just still getting emails about available shops.

Has anyone had this happen? How long until my background check is finished??

I think Intellishop starts everyone at 5. Not sure how long it takes to verify SS but I think it was about a week.
My issue with them is lake of follow up I did a shop recently for them submitted the shop they replied back need more info witch I supplied them I checked in a few times to see status it still said need more info yet was not able to get into shop to update I emailed scheduler twice to ask about it no reply then I get a email saying there not paying because they didnt get updated info I emailed them again still no reply and cant find any other way to contact them so I would avoid them
Tallman, I'm not sure what went wrong but what you're describing doesn't sound typical according to my experiences with the company. Maybe you can go on the website and find some way to contact them and work out the problem so you can do shops successfully in the future.

Perhaps they were wondering where the punctuation went?

I have had decent experiences with Intelli-shop. They start you off at a 5 rating. My SSN took a few days. The emails are part of their regular email blasts.
Thanks, guys! Sounds like they may have so go-getters in the company and some not-so-much when it comes to answering email. I guess I will just step back a little and see what happpens. smiling smiley
A starting rating of 5 is typical for Sassie MSPs like Intellishop. You can see your rating on the shop log page, which comes up when you log on. As for the delay for the SSN clearing, that is a new one on me.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
My experience with Intellishop has been positive. It does take time to get your account set up. And their editors can be persnickety. And their schedulers can be relentless. And their payment schedule can be erratic. But their shops are well designed, their reports are logical and, for me, communication is generally good.

No fee, no shop.
Intelli-shop was one of the first companies I started doing mystery shops for. I have never really had a problem with them at all, I was quite shocked when I came here and saw negative posts about them. They are one of my favorite companies. As for the SSN issue, that is new to me also. Usually I don't get a shop faster than my SSN is verified, so it has never happened to me. It seems to me that at most of the new companies I sign up with, the SSN is verified really fast.
I only do shops for them with heavy bonuses attached. Otherwise, you get paid less than an "illegal" worker.

Arguing with fools is like playing chess with a pigeon...

Not scheduling for ANY company.
They don't have much in my area but I do a shop every so often. 2 vehicles in the house needs oil change.

Willing to travel, Alberta, Canada
I found much better MSC's to do oil change shops in my area. They pay a lot more than Intelli-Shop.

The only good oil change shop in my area required a tire quote. I have brand spanking new tires on my car. That won't look suspicious at all. :/

It took about 3 days for it to be verified but you can complete shops while it is being verified
I did my first car shop for them, which by their description, was out of the ordinary. It required holding my report for three days for follow up by the sales person. Below are the problems I encountered.

1) The day after, I was writing my report when the status of my report went to complete. I emailed via the Help/Contact on the shop log. They responded saying it was available. I lost two sections of narrative.

2) I wrote two additional sections of narrative, finished another section, then did, "Complete and submit. I received a response from the proof reader saying I needed to write the two sections and finish the third. Apparently the complete does not save.

Lesson: I'm copying my narratives to a Word file as I do them.

Intellishop is not on my list of best companies at this point.

My experiences with this company in the last couple of weeks have been less than stellar. Much less. Once I get paid for these three fiascos I shall be deactivating myself. Someone else can have their drama.

Her Serene Majesty, Cettie - Goat Queen of Zoltar, Sublime Empress of Her Caprine Domain
Cettie, just received a grade of 7 on the best narrative I ever wrote...each section continued what was left off from before. For whatever reason, when I submitted it, it did not save all the finishing narrative I entered. And like a fool, I didn't copy it over to a word document.

I will not deactivate, but will not take anything from them unless it is very attractive or I'm despirate. I was going to do a comparison shop between two fast food restaurants, for which they've had two for weeks, but nope, not a chance.

I did a bonused assisted living center for them. You had to wait 24 hours after the shop before you were allowed to answer a question about whether they followed up by phone within 24 hours. I waited and then went in to enter and it wouldn't let me. I waited another day. It still would not let me enter. I emailed the scheduler, and she manually submitted the survey for me. Then the editor wants me to answer the question on the survey whether I received a follow up call. I still was not able to answer that question and therefore could, once again, not submit the form with the other edits she wanted. I had to keep explaining that the form would never let me answer that question and was therefore always showing as incomplete. It was one of my first shops and was discouraging worrying that it was going to show up as late. I did get paid promptly.

Go ahead and accept any shops you can get and do them. It takes a few days to clear the SSN but by the time the shop goes through the editing process, you should be fine (as long as you gave them your correct SSN that is).
I have one shop that I really like to do for them. The shop gets a nice bonus each month. This is the only shop I will do for them. I did one that had a follow up and the editor marked my grade a 7 because he/she/it said it was late. It was not late it was a holiday week. I asked several times for that to be changed and I was totally ignored. So I will do the $30 15-minute shop every month but they can keep all the others.
I have shopped with them for over 6 years. In my opinion they are one of the better MSPs out there. I like their car shops as I get to drive new cars and get decent pay. The trick is asking for bonus up front. If you have a good rating and have done the same shops in the past they almost always are willing to pay the bonus. The only problem is it is quite hard to get a 10 on the automotive shops. They require a word by word recap it seems. But I usually get an 8 sometimes a 7 or sometimes a 9. I expect a send back which you go back into the report and add what they want. I then get my 8. Always pay in a timely manner sometimes erradict. key is ask for or wait for shops to be bonused. They do have Nit picky editors.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.

Last year I found the editors to be much pickier than this year. I am getting 10s and glowing comments this year and my work hasn't really changed, so it must be that editors have either changed their style or Intellishop has a lot of new editors.

I do some bonused work with them and occasional regular fee shops, but generally, they do not pay enough for most shops for me to be bothered. Why would anyone do a car shop for $17, or when they tell you it's bonused at $22? Another MSC with a different type of negotiation car shop (with no test drive) pays $75. A no-brainer. If they pay me $50 or more I will do a car shop for them, and it works out for both of us. People need to hold out for those higher fees!
The car shops I don't do with them for less than $30. I did one of those negotiation ones in the past but was not $75. I dont have to video record either. Everyone has their own price, shops, and style.

Whosear -You don't submit the shops until you receive your call back or the three days. Just save the reports only. Submit when completely finished. Always SAVE.
Intelli editors usually give a 7. The only company I have ever gotten a 7 in 8 years. Just move on and get paid. It doesn't bother me anymore. I got a 7 because I put AM instead of PM.
If your oil change shop is the same I have been doing, it's okay to get a tire quote for another car. I have the same situation.

No fee, no shop.

Takes about a week and the 5 is the default shop rating.

But, to answer your question, no, no one here can fully explain this MSC. I have never had real issues with them, but most of my memorable go-rounds with editors have been with this MSC...
