Second To None -- Shop assigned too late

I may have to call Second to None. I had signed up for a shop that was due this morning between 6-9AM. As of 10PM last night I didn't have it so I decided to sleep in and not set the alarm clock.

I got up at 10 and there was an email at 6:46 this morning assigning me the shop. Needless to say, it was impossible to do. Additionally, the shop window was reduced from 3 hours to 2:14 since it was assigned during the window. I emailed the scheduler but haven't heard anything.

Has anyone else had this kind of problem with Second To None?

Second to None has been pretty fast to assign the shops I have taken.

But OMG, assigning a shop at 6:45 on the morning that it must be completed is like setting the shopper up for failure. A Sunday morning is ridiculous, but, regardless of day, it sounds unworkable to me. It would be interesting to know the story behind this late assignment. Clueless scheduler? Scheduler who dropped the ball? Scheduler who assigned to someone else who declined at the last minute ....... and, tag, you're it?
I have done a lot of work for Second to None and have never had this issue. I have had times when they have had to send me paperwork and it did not arrive in time. In those cases they always rescheduled the shop for me without issue.

When in doubt, call them and talk to a real person, Their number is in their contact information.

good luck
If I did not have the shop by the time I was ready to go to sleep I would always cancel the app so there would be no confusion.
I have found, if it's the shop I'm thinking of because those hours are familiar, that you can actually do it outside of those hours and just say "oops, sorry" and they accept it anyway. I wouldn't make a practice of it but in your situation I would give it a try.
If I don't hear from them by noon Monday, then I'll call and get something clarified.

How long ago did you apply for the shop? In other words, how many days did they sit on their hands before suddenly assigning it so asininely? smiling smiley

I haven't found any work to do for them for several months now. Which is really kinda sad, as I used to get nicely bonused shops from them every month or two, and I liked those shops, and I liked STN in general, and the schedulers I dealt with ~ especially one who cut me some slack and let me fix a shop where I'd forgotten one thing, rather than rejecting it.

HOWEVER... as I recall, there *were* several times where a job wasn't assigned until *very* early in the morning of the day I was to planning to do it (usually as part of a route). The saving grace was, it was a job that had a window of all day (or business hours) and I hadn't planned on doing it until later in the day, anyway.

I'd get up for the day, find the email assigning me the job. It was OK, because as mentioned it was usually part of a route anyway, and I had planned enough time into the route for that job already ~ figuring if I didn't get it, I'd just finish my day up early.

But yeah, it was a little annoying not knowing until the last minute, and then having to print all the stuff you'd need. And I couldn't print the final copy of my map/driving directions until I knew whether I had it or not, either! And in your case would be *really* annoying.

007.5, Generally, shopper's requests from the hub are assigned overnight. I thought assignments hit around 7 am, but that's based solely on my clock. However, when I want a shop for next day, I request it directly from the scheduler. I state in my email that if I don't hear back by xx'oclock, to disregard my request.

I have found them reasonable to work with. Often enough, they will actually answer the phone - which can be faster than emailing the help desk.
Doesn't S2N let you reschedule once without penalty? I'm pretty sure I've done that several times. I've found Kelly F. really great to work with.
Problem solved. They apparently had an IT problem that caused the shop to be assigned late. Going to do it in a few days.

you are more lucky than me..I got e-mail from them on August 1 (08/01/2914) with the shop scheduled for 7/2/2014. I sent them e-mail immediately and nobody replied to me yet.

I'd say that was probably an end of the month typo, changing from a due date of July something to August 2 and didn't change the first digit. But do get them to fix it before you do the shop or it might not accept the report.

Time to build a bigger bridge.

what report you are talking about? because it set for a wrong date it does not show up in my schedule when I logged on my page...

With some, if not all, their clients, when shops are flaked or rejected, the assignments fall back on the board, with the original due date. If so, the scheduler has to be contacted to get the assignment.

gene, if the shop is still on the board, likely it's still available. If it's gone, it was either pulled, or assigned to another shopper.
The IT problem explains why they never assigned a project that I signed up to do on Sunday.

You didn't tell us that. You just said the date was wrong. That's an entirely different problem, not being in your shop log at all. Did you get it straightened out today?

Hi James --

We apologize you had this issue, and happy it is now resolved for you.
Starting next month, we'll be launching a redesigned Shopper Hub, and one of the new features will be immediate self-assigning of open jobs. There will be no more waiting until the next morning to learn if you've been awarded an assignment.

Thanks for being a part of our team --

Second To None
That's awesome news but I'm more interested in what steps you're taking to get schedulers to reply to emails when you need a shop date a day later than what's available to self assign.

Dealing with an issue with Second to None: assigned shop and it no longer provided the service and changed locations. Informed them, they cancelled it. No payment.

Next month friend has same shop, reports the same information, cancelled, she is being scheduled to be paid $15.00. If it happens, I'll be raising a bit of hell.

Another time, a friend was assigned two grocery shops and I was assigned one although I requested one of the two. As they deactivated her due to her email, and she repeatedly didn't follow procedure, they gave her the two when she created a gmail account.

We completed the shops. Reports submitted. Mine went through fine. Both of hers had clarification issues, but since the email went to the new addy, she didn't check and lost both shops.

That is most excellent and welcome news!

Regarding non-responsive schedulers, we have heard this concern before. Maybe the luck of the draw, or geography, but for years I have enjoyed good relationships with schedulers for clients in my area.
I have never had a good relationship with STN schedulers.

Last year I sent an email regarding a shop (absolutely cannot remember what it was) and it's available bonus. I was quoted a lower price in the email than was available on the shop board.

Earlier this year I sent an email regarding a bonus on a treat shop. It's in my hometown and I often go to visit my parents. They often have a problem scheduling this shop and almost never get it done without adding a bonus. It was in the middle of the month and I sent an email asking for a bonus on this shop as they rarely get it done without one. Was told no way.

A couple of months ago I sent an email regarding 6 cable shops. 4 of one type and 2 of the other. Again I was quoted a lower price than was available on the board. A couple of days later I noticed that all but 1 were gone and the fee on it was raised. I replied to the email and asked to be assigned that shop at the board rate. I got a reply that the shop was gone. I emailed the scheduler a link to the shop and got a reply of "oh, I don't schedule those." ????? Then why the F*** have you been replying to my emails?

Less than 2 weeks ago I sent 2 separate emails to a scheduler about 2 shops for different food clients. It was the end of the month and both were bonused. I inquired about the two shops saying I would be in the area to do them but could not request as I would be there 2 days later than was available with 1 shop and 3 days later with the other. Both of them were before the end of the month. I have yet to hear a reply and when I arrived in the area of the first shop it was still available on the board.

Those are the only 4 interactions I have had with STN schedulers. Maybe it's a regional thing. Whom knows but the last 2 shops were approximately 500 miles north of my house.

They have bonused pizza shops where I am house sitting for two weeks. Called two on the list, they deliver to my address. Changed my default address to fit. Cannot even request because zip code is out of the service area. Per instructions, contacted scheduler via email.

Three days and still waiting. Shops still on the board, will be as it is the most crime ridden zip code in my city.

Scheduled one though with another MSC for one of the locations for tomorrow.

Would not be surprised if all of a sudden I have two shops on the same day without warning.

I sent them back that e-mail and asked explanation, a nobody contacted to me yet..

the treat was "Shop assigned too late" and I told that mine was assigned when the timing already passed due, and nothing else..I picked the pizza from another mystery shop...but STN seems like does not care about their shops at all
