I was sure I posted this initial problem somewhere else but I couldn't find it.
Spammers get more creative, so I was sure I had heard from one. Not so. I kept getting messages purportedly from PayPal saying I had only a limited time to claim my money from Service Check. The amounts seemed real enough. After a while, I realized that I was not getting payments. I contacted Service Check without a real response. I was sick that day, so I'm not sure what happened. Eventually, I called Accounting. The person who returned my call didn't know anything about such a thing happening. She suggested I contact PayPal which I have yet to do because I have been so busy. My bank also suggested I contact them.
It seems that no other company that sends me payments that way has a problem like that. I have gotten several such payments in the last couple of weeks. The Service Check rep wasn't aware of my situation and said they had no way of checking to see if my payments were coming back to them. (?!?) It turns out that I still had one email saying that with a deadline still in the future so I clicked on it, still thinking it was spam. It put the money in my PayPal account. The rep said that I should send her an accounting of what is missing and, if I wish, contact the owner. It was close to payday so she didn't think I would get the rest of the payments for this year until next month's payment. It wasn't exactly her job, apparently, so she was not informed of the ins and outs. I said, "You can't just send out a check?" No, they don't use checks anymore. I would think with this kind of problem they would have some sort of provision of paying me sooner rather than later. Their accounting practices are as primitive as mine! So I am waiting for the rest of the money.
Have any of you had that problem with PayPal? Have you had a company not even know that it is happening, both that they are asking the recipient to click on the email and that the payments are coming back to them? (Maybe the higher ups knew but she didn't.) I have always liked shopping for Service Check. I have never had any other problems with PayPal. Apparently, none of the other MSC's have had this kind of problem, either, at least not the ones that I have recently worked with.
I need to check through my notices from PayPal because I think I got one for another company, too. I need a secretary and a bookkeeper. Come to think of it, I need a housekeeper, too.
