They may cancel me soon as they are now calling one of my Google Voice numbers which only takes messages.
Over a 9-month period, I did hundreds of shops for Market Force. The week before I was deactivated, a scheduler said she wanted me to know that I had a "really outstanding record at Market Force." All of a sudden, I got an email saying that I was deactivated -- despite the fact that I still had several outstanding shops for them, which they asked that I complete as soon as possible. When I got deactivated, I was told it was because I had had too many errors. However, I was not told about any of them. In the two months before being deactivated, I started getting questions about shops that I had completed -- sometimes weeks previously -- asking about the shirt colors of the persons I had spoken with, how long exactly I had waited at a particular counter for help, where exactly I had stood. However, I answered all of their questions because I always keep extensive notes; I was never told that there was a problem with any of my answers or with any of my shops. I thought about protesting and asking to be reinstated, but my pride was hurt, so I moved on to other companies.
I don't think that is feasible to waste time on $8 shops, taking into consideration the travel expenses and time, noo to mention the time to eneter the shop's data and submit the shop.
Years ago I got am email and even a Certificate from MF congratulating me on reaching the level of 750 compeleted shops. Another two weeks passed and I had done perhaps 20 more shops and had another 10 scheduled. I was deactivated and got an email saying that I was "either too hard or too easy compared to the average shopper and we can't tell you any more." I was also told to complete the remaining shops which I did. I had never canceled shops. I rarely got questions, and when I did I responded immediately and never had a follow-up question. I wrote and asked for an explanation, and was told (again) that I was either too hard or too easy compared to the average shopper and that they were not allowed to tell me which one "due to high security."

I was hurt. I missed the jobs. In truth, I have made more money without MF, and scheduling myself has been much easier without having to work around the MF shops.

I was terminated by MF several years ago for violating the "3 error rule," or whatever it is. I was able to engage someone at MF in some dialogue and I pointed out that 3 errors in several hundred shops meant that they were terminating one of their most accurate shoppers. I was reactivated after I put in writing that I promise to be as accurate as possible. I've been doing shops for MF for something like 17 years (I still call them Shop n Chek). By the way, I've been fired from the merchandising part of MF (purple portal, Certified Associates, the movie check people, whatever you want to call them) twice. The people over on that side are quite insane.
I got deactivated several years ago. I called to get information as I had others scheduled and could not get them entered. They informed me it was due to late reporting. They were correct I had two the day before that I was late getting them in as a family emergency had occurred. I stated this and that I had notified them that the reports would be turned in as soon as possible. I stayed up to 4 am to get them in. The person I had talked with verified that I had sent a note to them. She reactivated me immediately. However, in a stern voice she told me that I needed to get jobs in on time.

I now have difficulties with them not understanding that I don't have the money to put out and then wait for them to reimburse me. They keep on calling and begging me to do a job. I do the jobs that don't have out of pocket expenses.

On a good note: I will be back to doing these shops shortly as my first retirement check from the State of Missouri (after 34+ years of teaching and an early retirement (2012) from the school district I worked for because of family situations) comes in this next week which will loosen up my finances.
Market Force has been good for me to work for, if there are questions re:a shop it is usually cleared up via e:mail or a phone call ,I am often offered binus shops, I like the fact that I know when my pay is coming, in spite of some errors made by me , they've not dactivated me in 7 years. between marketforce and Certified Field Associates, I am kept busy
I have two clients that I can not shop for anymore. <a fast food place> and <a gas station>. I was spotted as a mystery shopper on a out of town shop and had taken someone with me. I was taken off of this shop when the attend did not want to be photographed and called the cops. I am still doing shops for them and they still call to give incentive shops. I have asked about being reinstated on the other shops and Maritz but know one will tel me. I some times think one is better to deactivated the account and reapply. I think they have no idea how you are any way but number they have to use.

Mod note: Please stop naming clients in threads where the MSC is already out there. Thanks! smiling smiley

If you reapply, your social security number will show up as a former (deactivated) shopper and you will receive an automatic message that you are already registered.
bmttinman, you can't name the client names since the thread's subject line has the name of the MSC. Please remove the client names since it is an ICA violation and against the forum rules.
No, it does not sound accurate, but it does sound just like Market Force.
MF did the same thing to me a few weeks ago, and within 12 hours had undone the canceling as they realized they were beign rather...well..dumb. I got the same "3 errors" message, which was bunk. There were a couple shops where something got messed up, mostly going to the wrong place, but, well, it happens. Nature of the work on occasion. Just contact whoever sent you the message and they'll usually undo it. Hopefully you can contact them on a weekday. QC doesn't work on weekends, and they handle these kinds fo things.
I have been shopping with MF for many years and, so far, I have not had any problems. I am crossing my fingers it will stay that way though! I used to do way more shops per month for them but the pickings have become slim in my area over the last couple of years.

I shopped for another large MSC some years back and after doing 20 or more coffee shop locations each quarter for over 4 years, they informed me that they would not require my services anymore because I was a 98%er. They explained that I was reporting 98% of my shops as good to excellent. They thought I should have run into more medium to bad shop experiences. I didn't even try to fight it as I thought it would be useless. The funny thing is that 98% of all my shops were, in fact, good to excellent. I still visit these coffee shops because I am addicted to their coffee and the service is still as I found it in my shopping days, good to excellent. I had a good run with the company and miss the shops and the money but when a company wants to deactivate me, I guess it's their prerogative.
Weatherman,

While going to the wrong location can happen to any of us, it is by no means a little error that just happens. If you had multiple occurrences of this that you reported, it makes total sense that MF or any company would have canceled your account.
I have been reading all these issues regarding MF and I have not experienced any of them. If there is a problem with a report, do they actually contact you with questions? Or they just eventually deactivate you? I have never been contacted with a problem and I have always been paid for my work. I also have never been late with a report or visited the wrong location. I think I have had to cancel twice both due to being stuck in traffic (accidents with road closures) and not being able to make it within the specified time frame and no rescheduling dates available.

I also read of shoppers constantly being contacted by phone. I think I have had MF call me no more than twice ever since I have been shopping with them. And I am perfectly fine with that. I much rather prefer email or text message contact. And if they do eventually deactivate me, it would barely make a dent in my checking account. Never put all your eggs in one basket. DIVERSIFY!
I have nothing bad to say about M.F.

Heck, I've made just under $5M with them but I do work my a** off for them and will take shops that no one else wants to bother doing. It adds up and when there's a big bonus ready for a shop, who do they call?....ME!

I like this company and I'll work with them for as long as they can put up with me or me with them. winking smiley

You've made almost 5 MILLION with Market Force alone??
It happened a few times and I thought things had been handled when the issue came up months ago. Regardless, it was sorted out. Like I said, couldn't hurt to try and talk to someone at MF. Assuming the office is open they're fairly easy to deal with.

I suspect Canuck has made over $5,000.

Just history:

In the "olden" days we would use the suffix M for 1000 (Latin word Mille = 1000).

But in the new world, we began to use the suffix K for 1000 (Greek word Kilo = 1000).

So if you're over 50 years old, you use 5M to represent 5000.
And if you're under 50 years old, you use 5K to represent 5000.

That explains it! Thank you, AustinMom. :-)
Hahaha..that's the French in me. I was thinking mille (thousand) Not because I am over 60! tongue sticking out smiley

OOPS

$5K How's that? winking smiley
I worked for Market Force for a long time. It seems that their schedulers can deactivate you at their whim. I was deactivated even though I had done a lot of good work for them. I called and was reactivated. Then I had some issues because the assignments were not being accurately portrayed by the schedulers (I was given an assignment that was supposed to take 1.8 hrs but arrived to hundreds of returns to process and hostile management - even though I arrived on the correct/approved date). When I called to let them know that I had not completed the hundreds of returns - management wanted me to leave - they cancelled me again. I was fed up at that point and didn't pursue being reinstated.
I was deactivated about 6 months ago with no warning but I didn't really care because I hadn't been doing any shops for awhile. I contacted them a few weeks ago and inquired about doing shops for them again and they reactivated me right away, but told me to be sure I do a shop fairly soon or I would be deactivated again for inactivity.
How long were you inactive? I haven't completed a shop for them since February 2013.

Lisa, I stopped doing shops for them some time in 2012. I am not sure at what point they deactivated me since they didn't notify me. I didn't word my previous post very well -- 6 months ago is when I noticed I had been deactivated. I emailed them a few weeks and they reactivated me that same day.

I was curious because of regularly going 18 to 30 months without doing any shops for them. Maybe I haven't been hit with the inactivity because of logging in on a semi-regular basis, probably at least once a quarter.

I did get a random email from Marketforce telling me that I had two errors and if I got one more, I would be deactivated. I sent an email to the help desk and asked what was up. They said that I had attached the wrong picture twice, which did happen. I have so many pics of shops that if I don't name them with some type of naming convention, I get confused. I've been very careful since that email...
