Bare International

Bare has now started doing self-assign...just got an email telling me shoppers that maintain a 9/10 can self assign.

Maybe self-assign is only for certain clients? My Bare emails today have not so advised, and shops on the job board require applying.
I'm sure they are for certain clients only...but they never let you self-assign before. I went on and there were none there, so I'm assuming this means the jobs for Aug. which aren't out yet.

All jobs in my area are 'Self-Assign! (qualified)', but they are all for a particular bank I don't do. When I look statewide all those banks are 'Self-Assign!(qualified)' and all other shops are 'More Info'. The bank shops are all early August and there are some 'More info' both in July and early August.
Yes, I just signed in and saw that shop here, also for self-assign. There is another shop that's not, so as you all are saying, it must be the client. I'm surprised at the pay, which is not at all competitive for similar shops with other MSCs.
Correct on the pay. Thus it doesn't matter to me whether the shops are self assign or only by request, they won't be done by me at that fee.
Me either. I'm missing the "love fest." Perhaps they have some shops that pay well, but they are not the infrequent ones offered here.

I did a fair number of shops for them when I was fairly new as a shopper, but I have only done one in the past year or so. I had a blast with that one. It probably wasn't worth it on a time/fee basis, but I did have fun and would do the shop again. Overall I'm not in the "love fest" here either. They were a good place to start shopping, but I outgrew them. They have had some amusing things over the years. But they are not a company I turn to to make money or enhance lifestyle.
I still find some good paying and worthwhile shops from them. This one, however, isn't one of them!
I am kind of in the love fest category with them. I love their hospitality shops and they had some really great Personal Training/Fitness shops that I LOVED. They literally kicked my butt - and got me to the gym when nothing else would.

On the other hand, I would never do some of their shops.
I as well have done the Health club shop and it got me going to the gym again. The bank job does not pay well, but is very easy and serveral close to my house. I haven't done any hospitality yet, think I'll look into it. My love fest (although not my words) with them is they always have jobs, pay right on time, and are dependable with their shops. I see so many losing clients and cutting pay, they seem to hang in there. They had a day Casino where you just shop restaurants...up my alley or what, so, a nice day trip to Santa Barbara might be duable if they can change the date to Sat.

When talking about MSC's "love fest" wouldn't be my word of choice.......lol.

Irene, I have done self-assign before, and it's been over a year since I have done anything for them. It might be the client, or the date, or the location itself if hard to fill.

Dee..the bank has been self-assign, but I read from the email, they are getting more self-assign.

For a few months they had a shop to check the service for delivery of our local paper. I had to get up at 6 AM and walk down my driveway to pick up the paper and report on its condition. It was the easiest money I ever made. Too bad it ended.
HELP....anyone doing their merchandising job....involved and oh why did I get into this one. Love to hear feedback, you can pm....

I have done a number of shops for Bare and while they may not be the highest paying company on the block, THEY DO PAY PROMPTLY. I have communicated directly with Jason Bare on a number of occasions and found him to be both helpful and professional. So, I must say two thumbs up for Bare and it would surprise me to learn they were a part of some scam.
They are not part of a scam, though it does not preclude a scammer from using their good name as part of a scam. I am not one of the love fests for them. I find their shops, when they have them here at all, very low paying. Yes, they pay on time. It does not mean I chose to shop for them. It is not worth my time for the money.

I do not think it right to judge them if they don't have jobs in your area. Here they have many and some interesting jobs, and as we said, pay is never a problem. Direct deposit or check, it comes on the day promised. I just did the Casino and had a blast, won $$, had buffet went to Santa Barbara and Solvang for the day, and came home with $102.00 (thanks to penney slot). Pay is comparable with others, except for Bank, in my town (no driving) and simple report,,, I look forward to doing.

Maybe the low fees are due to the clients they have (or lack thereof) in your area then?

The years I've shopped with Bare have been feast or famine as far as the clients they have here. Pay is acceptable and communication is good. I like the way their Sassie reports flow, letting the shopper write the narrative. I find it easiest to detail narratives logically and in chronological order.
Irene. READ. I never said that they do not have clients in my area. I said they do not have many, and the ones they have that I have done required way to much work for the money they paid. YMMV. It is what it is.

I not only find the fee's competitive, I just got an email my check for Casino which I did two weeks ago, is in the mail, which makes this the fastest paying MSC I work for!!!

I just got a shop offer from Bare to go for a written test shop. Has anyone heard of this shop and any info about it?
I've done the testing centers and actually applied for a couple more this morning. Basically it's regarding security procedures. You have to sit for the test and it's wise to stay for a reasonable length of time, then the report is fairly easy. Naturally the expectation is you fail the test and sometimes there's an additional question afterwards. I got the shock of my life last time when I passed with flying colors. E-mailed the scheduler and we both had a good laugh, but it didn't affect my rating or pay for the job.

You guys are lucky. The only assignments I see for Bare in my area are post office ones. I never have seen any gym assignments. I'd love to do those.
My tests have always required failure so that I could ask for assistance after the test. They also require that I stay in the test room for an hour. I spend the hour trying to logic through the questions and then Christmas Tree the rest of the exam before leaving. I was shocked that based on the questions I carefully answered on one test and probability on the rest, I could have been certified for an occupation about which I have virtually no knowledge had I used logic on the rest of the test as well. So much for 'professional'.
Yeah, I am now certified for Food Handling Safety Management! Actually, I am a foodie and a lot of the questions seemed common sense, but I still didn't expect to pass since there were still a lot of them based on intelligent guessingsmiling smiley

The issue I have with these shops is that almost a year ago they were paying $75, and now they are down to $25. I can see a small decrease, given the economy, but a $50 decrease! (And no, the shop I did for $75 was not bonused - that was the starting fee for the same shop that is now $25)
I've completed these jobs for 2 different companies since 2009. The fee was never $75 for either of them. I also received e-mails from a third company offering a bonus for a remote location, but I think the starting rate may have even been less than what Bare pays.
