Mintel GNPD

A few months ago I received an email about this. It was something to do with buying new products and shipping them to London, England, I believe. I said I was interested but did not hear back. But then a few weeks ago I got another email asking if I was still interested. I said I need to know how much I would be out of pocket before being reimbursed. I did not hear back.

I'm just wondering if anyone else got the email. It might have been sent only to Canada. I wonder if it was legit and how much money you'd have to risk.

I've been with Mintel for a few months and this does not sound legit. That's based on their response time alone. Any of the times I've sent an email, whether for clarification or to accept a shop, I get an email back same day if not within an hour. This does not sound like them AT ALL!!
I just found another thread on this: [www.mysteryshopforum.com]
Not much info though. I'm not rich enough to go shopping for new products, mail them to London, and hope to be reimbursed. The worry about money would be be too much.
I do projects for Mintel regularly and their email response time is great, within an hour or two.
Are you doing this project? I'm not asking about their email response times. I'm curious about this particular project. The GNPD project.
Are you already with Mintel? I would email one of the other schedulers and ask if they have heard of the project. While it sounds odd-ball, it is not unlike some other projects they do. Another scheduler, one you already work with, could tell you if it was legit.
(If someone was running a scam, they might also know that this weird-sounding project is not that weird in the context of Mintel.)

Exactly. Mintel has interestingly offbeat projects sometimes (that pay pretty darn well for the most part). And I am pretty sure this was all hashed out on another thread (perhaps the one referenced above) a month or so ago. As I recall a Mintel rep or another shopper confirmed this was one of their projects.

Travelliz, it wasn't "all hashed out on another thread". No one who actually does the job posted.
I just wonder how much you have to be out of pocket to do this job and what it is like.

I know exactly the program you're referring to! I had joined the program but never participated as I never knew if a product was actually "new" or not.

The basic concept is this: go into stores (mainly where groceries are sold) on a regular basis and look for new products. If you see a product you've never seen before, you purchase it and send it to Mintel in England. They reimburse all shipping expenses as well as the cost of the product and they pay you a token amount for each item that is "new". They do this to maintain their "new products database". Here is a link that kinda explains what they're doing: [www.mintel.com]

So, yes, this is a legit offer from a very legit group. I've worked with Mintel on other projects. They are very good communicators and have always paid me on time via cheque in US funds. There has been slight issues that maybe have to do with conversion but it's very minor, i.e. they'd agreed to pay me $15 US per month but I ended up getting $12.16 US per month making me think they actually meant $15 CDA per month then converted it. No biggie. Easy work, easy to work with, good communication....thumbs up from me smiling smiley
Thanks. I wonder what they would do if you sent them something that wasn't "new". The money lost from that might mean you end up working for nothing.
Sorry to be slightly off-topic... Whenever I check their job board, I almost always see just a menu job. I recently got an email about a different project and completed it. Those of you who do regular work for them, is it mostly via emails that you find out about the projects? I would like to do a lot more with Mintel, but there is rarely anything posted.
When you are on their home page, you can search for open assignments by selecting Choose from Available Assignments. To look for the ongoing projects, click the Open Recruitment tab at the top, next to Home.
Right now mine says "Open Recruitment Last Modified 2016-06-13." When I click it, I currently see an opportunity for a credit union study, a new account study, and a text message collection. They post new survey weekly.
No, you won't be out any money. They reimburse everything, even if it's not a new product but you won't make any money unless the product is new. They pay a small amount if the product is new. You can ask them for clarification through email although I understand you've been having a hard time reaching them. They're usually very good about answering emails.

So sorry, must have been elsewhere I discussed it. I thought it was here.

Sometimes the special offers come via email, other times I have latched on some good ones by keeping track of the open recruitment board, and once I got a really great short term one off their job board. Mintel is one company I keep close track of regarding offers.

I did one for them before involving finding products of a certain type, buying them and informing them about some specifications...and keeping all of them. Reimbursement plus a decent payment...one of my better memories of all of last year... Hesitant to sing their praises because I want them all to myself but ...at least with that project 10/10.
Not sure if im posting in the right spot. I am new to Mintel and think they are great. Is anyone else doing the bank project? Interested in hearing from others.
I've done several various shops for Mintel...never the bank projects, tho. I have always found them to be great to work with, pay on time, and have some interesting projects at times! Enjoy your work with them!
They have several bank projects. I've been on a continuous one for about six months. I've done a different project for two years. They are one of my favorite msp.
