I completed a shop for Maritz 3 months ago that I've been patiently awaiting pay on. I've called them about once a month to check the status. At the 2 month mark they told me it was in internal review, whatever that means. This time when I contacted the pay department I was told that "they're not going to pay you for it." The person in the pay department didn't know why, I would have to contact such and such team directly. This information was left as a voicemail so I didn't get to ask any additional questions.

I contacted such and such team and told them my story. The man didn't know why I wasn't going to be paid. He could not see that information, he would have to speak with his supervisor. And that's where I'm at now.

I guess I'm just venting or wondering if anyone else has had such nonsense happen. I should say that I've completed this shop probably 30 times with no problem. Maybe 2 or 3 times they've sent the report back and asked for some extra bit of information but that's it.

This particular shop was heavily bonused and over an hours drive from my house. I made this trip on short notice. And that's what is really frustrating about it. The other thing is that THIS shop wasn't sent back to me, no questions were raised. I was unaware there was a problem at all with it until now. What could I have possibly done wrong that I wouldn't get paid for a shop, no one would would ask questions about it, and no one would contact me.

I've apparently done something wrong enough to not get paid but not bad enough to cut me off from work because I've had ample work from them in the last 3 months. I don't lie or cheat in my shops. I have little faith in them now. I doubt I will NEVER do work with them again, but I think I'm done for a while.

pink did you submit invoices after your shops?

Was the shop ever placed on hold? As Honny pointed out, no invoice would hold up payment. I suggest you call the team again and follow up with the supervisor's findings. The schedulers usually take detailed notes of phone calls but the supervisors may not be to quick to respond. Keep after them

Honny it sounds like pink has been working with them for quite awhile and stated that it was a shop previously done at least 30 times, so certainly pink has been submitting invoices and getting paid. If it was something as simple as a forgotten invoice, they would have said so over the phone.

JAS, sometimes it's the simple things that cause the sideways problems.

This is your biggest problem right now. Patience is not a good thing when waiting for pay from a MSC. While I think politeness and tact is essential, follow up with them, daily if necessary. Make it impossible for your shop pay question to fall between the cracks. Keep in mind they are the customer (and customer is always right, even when the customer is wrong, etc., etc., etc.) but businesses don't just let customers leave without paying and you shouldn't either. And a heavily bonused shop fee is worth spending time to get, or at least to get a clear answer why you won't be paid.

Good luck. Please come back and let us know what happens. I've never had Maritz come back with questions and I have never not been paid, so I want to watch this no-pay and poor communication issue to see the outcome.

That's true, Honny. But I still think they would have told her when she called that the reason she wasn't getting paid was because of a missing invoice. Payroll would have that information and would not have referred her back to Team X who handles the shops.

I had a similar experience, and that was it for me with Maritz CX. I, too, had completed scores of the same types of shops, and this particular one was bonused, as well. After shop was approved and I was awaiting $, I got a call from their internal control dept. saying I did not follow the shop instruction, and therefore would not get paid. I questioned what part of shop instruction was not followed, and the employee replied that I was supposed to follow an outdoor scenario, which was not in the instructions. I read my instructions thoroughly before performing all shops, as I don't want to waste my time. It was pointless to pursue this, as they were not going to pay me. No more Maritz for me.

They do NOT pay for closed locations ...... yes some of you have gotten it but it is rare and not the norm. A precall was NOT required for this gas station. And yet not even half allowed for closed. Their words, well we can clean up our list now..... hmmmm Not fair.

You are the exception not the rule. I understand "cleaning up closed location? lists" but pay us for gas.

I've always been paid for locations that were out of business, as in locked up and gone. I was not paid when I shopped a location on Sunday that did not have Sunday hours, although I did all parts of the shop that I could. Not only were they closed for Sunday, their pumps were off.

I was paid for another location I shopped on Sunday that did not have Sunday hours, and again, I did all parts of the shop I could including taking pictures through glass doors and windows.

It's not clear to me what the rules are, but I believe I have been paid the full amount of the shop fee, plus reimbursement for gas if the pumps were working, for all closed locations except the one described above.

I completed two shops on the same day and was actually whining on here about non-payment of one of those shops. Turns out, something was held up in editing and no one ever emailed me to ask me a question. My associate I evaluated was the only associate in her area and there were no help buttons. I had to wait 19 minutes on help, even after going on the hunt for the associate-- she had a line of over a dozen people to help and the store was overly crowded and understaffed. I thought I thoroughly wrote all of this out, but they had questions... but never sent it back to me! I finally managed to get paid about 70 days later than I did for the first shop.... After dozens of emails and calls, someone finally mailed out a check. I was polite and never rude with anyone, I just kept asking for details on it. I found that I was finally able to get a reply thru help after submitting detailed emails and questions. Kind of bugs ya out when you pick up a bonus shop at $101 and suddenly the funds do not show up. You're all woohooo I'll take that, yes please, will do today, can be there in an hour, get that report in to ya in about 2 hours and you hold up your end and the check never comes -_- haha but I'm all squared away now and satisfied again.

I'm not really sure why this turned into a thread about closed locations when the OP never said the location was closed for the shop completed?

I was just going through my spreadsheets and realized I have not paid for June, July or August shops yet. I have always responded right away with any inquiries and have never received a notice that a shop was rejected. As far as I know I performed all of the shops correctly. They owe me several hundred dollars so this thread has me a bit worried! I emailed them but now I'm wondering if I should call them tomorrow.

Maritz is a credible company when it comes to payments. I would suggest you ask to speak with the supervisor or lead for the respective team. The team members do not appear to have access to all of the photos and data etc. If the shop was not completed correctly they will be able to provide specifics.

I'm wondering if there is a problem with changing my address. I moved in May and have not received any payments (as far as my records show) at my new address. Perhaps it's just an error in transition (or my error in recording my payments). I'll call tomorrow!

I had a similar issue to the OP. I completed a shop in July for which I was promised a considerable incentive bonus as they needed it to be done urgently. I chased them up, by email (through their website) last week: no response (which seems to be par for the course with them and email). So I emailed again today and had an email response that it appeared to be On Hold and that she would look into it for me. I later received another email stating that there will be No Pay for this shop as I did not make an objection, despite the fact that I had clearly explained in my report that there was no opportunity for such a thing as the salesperson had not attempted to suggest a product to me or to make a sale. How can someone make an objection to something which has not been offered? I have also had issues with payments from them in the past (but this was more related to them taking a ridiculous amount of time to pay me, rather than not paying me at all) and find their procedures for contacting shoppers archaic, to say the least.

I am thinking of just removing myself from their shopper database altogether as there are far more, better & well-oiled mystery shop companies out there who offer much better basic pay for their shops. It's not worth the time & effort of NOT being paid $12 for your troubles.....

I would hold off on removing yourself just yet. I'm RARELY offered the product yet I will hem and haw and say things like "Oh, I'm just not sure if I can install it myself" or "I wonder how I would get it to my house" and they'll usually respond appropriately. I agree that it is not worth the $12 but I have recently seen some HUGE bonuses on these that are very much worth it!

As a follow up to my previous comment about not being paid, apparently two of my shops were not invoiced (my bad!) and one of them has a check that is MIA. They said it was issued but it wasn't cashed in my bank account and I have no record of receiving it. I was surprised at the fast responses I received today and was assured that the two shops I forgot to invoice have been invoiced and will be on their way soon!

I have received a check today. Have no idea why you do not get paid. Did you call the 800 number and ask for the Team you worked with? Give it another shot, and see what happens.

I understand your frustration but I'm going to suggest you not deactivate yourself.
If an objection to the product offered or shown is required, the shopper has to find some way of making that objection. It is not an option, as we see from your shop not being paid. Although it's tough for a shopper to accept shopper error, what we have here is shopper error. Perhaps the instructions were not crystal clear to you, but that is still no reason to deactivate.

The company has a number of different programs, they are well organized, they pay on the dot, and they are easy to reach for communication. As far as "better" and "well oiled", those are general rather than specific terms. I consider them to be "among the very best" and "extremely well organized" as far as organization of the website, clarity of job offers, willingness to be flexible, and overall attitude toward the shopper.

The loss of all future streams of income from their various programs can be a serious handicap if you intend to be a long time shopper. Not to say that there are not probably hundreds of thousands of successful shoppers who never shop for Maritz and never will, why deliberately cut a source of revenue.

The reason you will find so many criticisms of the larger mystery shopping companies is because they are the larger mystery shopping companies. They dominate space on this forum because they dominate the business. The trend is for the smaller companies to be gobbled up by the larger companies. Deactivating from one of the larger companies may turn out to be regrettable some time down the road. I encourage you to simply back off and leave your options open.

Could it be the OP was outed as a MS; therefore, the MSC is rejecting the report? Hence no payment to MS.
