When you just can't get that "10" from Confero.

There's a car wash shop I've completed three times in the last year. Each time I feel like I'll get a "10" but I've only ever gotten "8's", with no explanation about why they knocked off two points. Since I've always been paid without issue, I don't want to pester schedulers/editors with an e-mail asking why I didn't get a perfect score. Is it difficult to get a "10" with Confero? Also, for you experienced shoppers, do you think a two-point mark down is worth me looking into?

Don't waste your breath nick picking the feedback from the editors. I gotten 8 or 9's on my reports. Never a 10. I guess the editors needed to find something in your reports as their proof they went over your reports. The editors were probably instructed to find something and usually don't state why the lower score. Just be glad they didn't ask for multiply corrections and then reduce your scoring lower because they had to contact you. Just be warned- some editors are very anal.
Not worth looking into, unless it'll hold you back from other shops, which I highly doubt that it would...

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!
Always 8's or 9's with them. I have never gotten a 10. I usually don't fret over it.
I most often get 10s on their oil change shops. But when I get an 8 or a 9, there is never an explanation. That's just how they roll.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I've never gotten a 10 either, always an 8...it used to bother me a lot, but they never quibbled about payment....ever. And the shop I did for them last week with a $10.00 bonus attached got an 8 as well! Oh well, as long as they pay!
I've gotten seven 10s out of the 39 shops I have done for them. The others were 7s, 8, and 9s. Funny thing is with the 9s there was often the same comment I got with the 10s: "Great job, thank you! Nicely written! Your report was well written and required little or no editing!" Some shops got no comments at all other than a note about when to expect payment. I haven't done much for them in the past few years.
Interesting to read this thread. I've gotten three 8's in the three shops I did with them and just figured we weren't "clicking" as well for some odd reason. Maybe they only use a 1-8 scale.
They have 10s, they just aren't given often.

I had a college English professor that would never give out 100s on essays and papers. I got 98% consistently and asked him what I was doing wrong that I could not get 100%. He said, "Nobody's perfect."

The same thing has happened to me. I was curious about it last year, so I contacted them and asked politely if they could give me some suggestions for improvement so I could turn those 9's into 10's. The response I got was that my reports were excellent as evidenced by the same comments I received on the shops that did receive a 10. The reason I was given for the 9's on some reports was that the report was easier than the others and a 9 was equivalent to a 10 on a more difficult report. I didn't completely understand this logic, but hey, I'm still getting paid and they are happy with the quality of the work.

So, as long as they are happy and I'm getting paid, I don't sweat the 9's any longer.

I get 100% of the shops I apply for with Confero.
I have 179 shops and only six 10's. I also have two 8's.
Definitely don't sweat it.
I have a two digit shopper ID with them. That's how long I have been shopping for them! smiling smiley
When I researched Confero for an article I read that a 10 is considered "very exceptional" but on average they give 8's. I have only received 8's..... no matter how well the report was written.
When I received a 9 for a simple shop that only an idiot could have made a mistake, I contacted Confero. Their reply was, "We don't give 10s for those shops." They apparently have rating scores that are specific to each type of shop. So if it is a real easy shop with no narrative, you will probably never see a 10.

I contacted them as well when I got a couple of 8s and 9s instead of 10s. They said that 8s and 9s are considered very good or even excellent depending on the complexity of the shop. They said that 10s are given when the shop is more complex and your work is excellent.
The reason i was concerned was that I have received shops that are listed as only available to people with a minimum 9 average score.

Hmmmm. I hope you didn't use it on that post.
I have a single ten, on a unique project. The rest of them are an array of 8s and 9s. The 9s usually have a note that says "Well written!"

It's like being passive-aggressively negged by the incoming president.
I have been told by an editor and a supervisor that they do not give 10's because nothing is perfect. I have been told 9's are rare and and 8 is their 10. I have asked for an example of what they consider a top notch report and have never gotten that example after I asked several times. Depending on what editor you get and what mood they are in will determine your grade. You should also know that if your rating falls below 8 you can no longer self assign. This means you have to have several 8's to cancel out one 7. I have done over 200 retail shops for them and so has my husband. I always get paid but remain frustrated with the confusing aspect of their report for this one type of retail shop and the fact that no matter what you do it does not seem to be good enough.
I just completed 2 shops for Confero. I received the exact same brochures at both shops that were exactly what was expected from all the shops of this type. One of my shops was rejected since I used the exact same photo for the same brochures for both shops. I have questioned my review but I am curious of other's opinion on this detail.
You never use the same photo for multiple shops, period. It may seem unnecessary to take multiple photos when the material is the same, but the rule on this was made very clear to me when I first started mystery shopping. I understand you wanting to try to argue the rejection. If nothing on their website/instructions states you can't use the same photo multiple times, you may be able to fight it, but I doubt you'll win.
I have only received 8s from them. After my first shop, I emailed my scheduler asking what I missed and was told that everything was fine. She continued that she's never seen a 10 and only a few 9s. She said if I ever received lower than a 7 I should worry.
How can you get a hold of the schedulers I tried calling and get the message away from the phone or busy they never call back
