Maritz Yellow Gas Shops--Photo Requirements?

General question before I self-assign shops. Do the photos for the yellow Maritz gas stations shop need to specifically be from a digital camera or a tablet as the instructions state or are you able to use a smartphone camera?? I have had no issues with the blue gas shops using my smartphone camera.

The instructions are vague, in my opinion. It states that a digital camera with fresh batteries is needed but does not forbid the use of the digital camera on a smart phone. There is another brand done by Maritz that specifically disallows a camera phone. But not the yellow stations. I have used both in the past but prefer to use my digital camera rather than my phone camera. I hesitate to suggest this because you will probably not get an answer unless you can get through to a supervisor, but give them a call. The schedulers will not be of much help.
One more thing, yankeepoo. If you do decide to take some yellow shops, take plenty of photos just in case an editor decides you are too close or too far from the counter or didn't capture the logo on the canopy or didn't include enough fixtures in the rest room or whatever. The editors for this brand have a well earned reputation for being picky, picky, picky. Not so much the other brands. Good luck, have fun.
I have used my smartphone camera several times. I have not had any issues, but I haven't done any of the new round yet so I don't know for sure. Like LlJake I prefer to use a real camera, since it allows for taking a LOT of pictures and choosing from them. I find that the glare on the screen of my phone is problematic.
As long as you take plenty of photos and they're of good quality they don't care what you used to take them. Also make sure that the photos for the different aspects they ask for are unique enough. Interior shouldn't be the same as product selection etc.

Really? I've had the opposite experience with them. I never hear from the yellow editors. The worst, by far, are the incompetent green (route assigned) client. So much so that I don't think I'll be taking my Q2 routes this year. Someone else can deal with that massive headache.

Around here the only green route consists of exactly ONE location. Kind of hard to do 10% of that route per week. winking smiley

I haven't had any problems with the editors of the green stations. You may have one troublemaker in the bunch and she/he is all yours!
The one I have problems with is the blue one that could be one of two names and you have to take a picture of each pump. In my area the norm is 10 - 12 pumps, I had one that was 16 pumps. I always get put on hold for something with those. I have stopped doing them.
I think it's HMK that causes me the most trouble

I used a smartphone for them for years on 100s of those shops and it was never an issue. What they want is clear photos that show what they are supposed to show and in the 640x480 size.
When they put it in the video about using your phone as a camera I called and asked. I was told by Team 2 that it was find. 50 shops later I am still using my smart phone and when I do the safety vest with the Customer Reference Guide in the picture never had a shop declined. I try to do a shop with my tablet not hooked to WIFI or Data stream and could not get it to work. I am thinking of doing my next shop thru their app and see if it works. I had problems when I did a Dino green pop shop with the app for the Editor wanted different pictures. Told them I did it with their app and did not save the pictures taken. I have not done any since then for I am afraid of have them declined.
The app saves pictures now but you still don't have the opportunity to take more than one unless you go outside the app to take extra.

They are annoying aren't they? I hit on taking the approved picture of the entire pump and then a close up of every pump showing the POP and now the decals plainly. It gets me out of harms way faster and I have a close up if there is a problem. That being said, I once drove 2 hours to do a string of heavily bonused gas stations. ALL OF THEM had 20 or more pumps with cars flying in and out. I missed one pump because the driver left the car at the pump for over 30 minutes. Had a little problem with that one as the picture was not taken to standards. But fortunately the editor understood.
The Maritz editors are sadistic. Especially the yellow editors. The green and yellow editors make up rules never mentioned in the guidelines. The blue editors are a little bit better. IMO the blue shops are the only ones worth doing as they pay a couple dollars more then the green or yellow ones.
