Scam?

So, today I received a check for $1,680.00 and a letter that just has Marketforce logo then Customer Satisfaction Surveys. Paying me $300 to go to a store. Does that sound right?

SCAM! No one pays in advance. DO NOT cash that check and DO NOT send them any $$$

What do you think.

Run! Don't ever cash the check. Report it! Many SCAMS use legitimate MSCs' name to fool people.
Any attempt to even deposit that check will cost you money as your bank will charge YOU for depositing a bad check. Turn it over to the police or a bank.

No. this is a complete no-brainer. Think about it. How would a total stranger track you down and why would he select you out of all the available people in your area and send you $1,600? Before sending money, did he ask your education or qualifications? Did he collect your social security number? If this was legitimate, how could he pay youwhen he is required to report your earnings to IRS? That should make it clear this is illegal, right?

So many red flags. The scammer is hoping that people will be so greedy for a big payout that they'll grab it without thinking about it.
Please be aware that your bank won't immediately know it is fraudulent. It takes about 10 days for them to find out and then you are out whatever amount of money you sent to the scammers (they usually say keep 10% or 20% and wire them the rest) and if you wrote any checks, you are bouncing all over the place. Plus, it will ruin your banking status. Think about it. Who sends that amount of money to a complete stranger and pays up front for work they haven't done yet? Nobody. Take it to the postmaster at your post office as it is mail fraud, or take it to the police. Or, call the bank it was drafted on and they will tell you right away it's fake.
Like many ladies have said run , do not walk away run. I would talk to my bank , the cops and the mysteryt shopping coming to let them know what is going on. But under no means cash that check.

Are you assuming their gender?

SCAM. REPORT TO MARKET FORCE. Your local police cannot do anything but Market Force can gather many of these and make a case, plus they have attorneys that can reach into other states. I fell for something similar ONCE many years ago and I never even sent them any money just deposited the check and it caused me to have to close my bank account because a fraud alert was put on my account after it bounced. I was out money though I never even spent any of it. I called the scammer, they were like OK and oh well. No attempt to even hide it. The local police couldn't prosecute one case against the check in another state across the country. I paid bounced check fees and damaged MY standing at the bank. Just by depositing the check.
WOW! That's some story, LeslieKay111....I hope the newbies on here will learn from what happened to you. It seems to be so much more prevalent now....everyone wants "easy money", but this sure isn't the way to get it!!
The only "Easy Money" I've ever been able to get is through the old board game by the same name!! Otherwise, it's been work, work, work. No one will send us money for no reason....why is that so hard for some people to figure out???
